My car is in the shop this morning. I should get an estimate of the actual repair cost in a day or two. I'd love it if the repairs could be finished in less than six weeks, since I wouldn't have to spend as much on the rental car.

I did some food shopping last night to cover the next few days until I pick up my rental car on Friday.

I've been able to attend a couple of furry meetups this week. I went to the Tuesday meet at Village Inn, and I'll go to another meet tonight at a pizza place close to my home. The Arvada Tails "RMFC" meet is 24 days away. Since it's on a Sunday, I'll ask another KRCC announcer if he can fill in for me beginning at 9 or 10 AM. I'll probably just wear my collie tail to the meet since it's outdoors and I don't want to overheat in my kigurumi or fursuit.

I intended to catch Clem Hammond's performance at Front Range BBQ last night. A former co-worker plays bass for Hammond's band. The restaurant was crowded both inside and out. I was able to have a seat at the bar to have dinner and a drink. I had some jalapeño cheddar hush puppies for an appetizer, followed by a spicy brisket sandwich called the John-Alex (named for a late local blues musician, John-Alex Mason.) When I finished, the opening band was still playing and there were no seats available in the performance area. I decided to head home instead and take part in Steelwoulfe's game night.

I bought a portable charger for my cell phone (and other electronic devices) recently. This will be very handy for vacations when I'm sightseeing and needing to recharge my phone and camera. I also recently deleted a couple of apps I don't use which were huge memory hogs.

After work on Sunday, I went to a barbecue in Colorado Springs at one of the cruiser's homes. The home has an outdoor pool, but I hadn't brought my bathing suit. Instead, I just had a couple of hot dogs, along with beers and chicken salad. I drove one of the cruisers to a local hotel so she could take a shuttle to the airport. After driving back to the Magnolia Hotel in Denver, I slept for about five hours. I tried to listen to The Rabbit Hole and Doggy Radio last night, but the streams kept buffering on the hotel's wifi. I gave up after about 30 minutes then went back to sleep.

Bucktown Tiger visited Colorado this week. I had dinner with him and his wife Thursday at the Ritz Grill. I hadn't seen Bucktown in person since Furry Fiesta 2015.

My mini-vacation with the cruise reunion group in Denver began Friday afternoon. I checked into the Magnolia Hotel around 1 PM. I had bought a portable DVR to record some of the programs on the stations I can't get in Colorado Springs. The hotel has WiFi, but my room doesn't have an Ethernet connection, which the DVR requires. I didn't know my room had both a refrigerator and a microwave. I had bought a couple of meals for work which don't require refrigeration. Last night, I walked to dinner at a rooftop restaurant and bar. I had already eaten dinner at my dad's house, so I just got a plate of sweet potato fries and a few chocolate martinis. Walking back to the hotel, I bought two bottles of water at 7-Eleven, both for me and my APAP.

This afternoon, I'll go with the reunion group to the Mile High Wine Fest, followed by dinner at the Thirsty Lion. I was greeted at work by the smell of burnt coffee. The Friday evening DJ forgot to turn off the coffee pot before leaving.

I may not like the taste, but I'll suck it up. (That's what SHE said!)

Last night, I added a small amount of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water to help me with a medical issue (lipomas.) I managed to drink about 3/4 of the glass. It seems to have worked as the lipoma under my right arm is almost gone.

I was able to add another night to my hotel stay in Denver for this weekend. I'm hoping I won't have to change rooms on Sunday. If I do, I'll check out Sunday morning before driving to work, then check in again after the afternoon barbecue. I will shop today for a couple of items I need for the trip.

I reserved a rental car for the weeks my car will be repaired. I will pick up the rental on the 28th instead of the 25th to save a bit of money. The rental will cost about $2,400 including insurance.

Some of the furry stream hosts are at Anthrocon this weekend. There was no mention of another hosted Jackbox Games stream tonight. I'll go to bed in a bit once the fireworks show at Security Service Field ends.

I scheduled my car's repair for July 25.

The rum and coke gummies turned out well. I used Captain Morgan spiced rum. The spiced rum is a good match for the sweet cola flavor of the gummies. I just drained the excess rum and drank it, so I'm buzzed at the moment.

I can now use the TSA Pre-Check line when I fly. I used some of my frequent flyer miles to pay for the Pre-Check sign-up.

As I thought, my light jacket was inside my fursuit case.

I let one of the KRCC engineers know the playlist system had Monday's playlist loaded when I came in instead of Sunday's. I don't know if the DJ from the night before clicked on the wrong date or the system itself auto-loaded the wrong date. I brought up the Sunday playlist around 6:20 AM. The "Weather Lady" called the studio this week. I hadn't heard from her for a couple of weeks, so I wasn't sure if something had happened to her. On the other hand, I haven't gotten a call from the "Slime Lady" in months; I hope she found something better to do on weekends. I think I may have forgotten to submit my time card this time. If I don't see the deposit on Friday, I'll add the hours to the next time card.

I went to Rocket Fizz after work to get some gummy cola bottles. I wanted to go to a downtown candy store, but there was no parking nearby (and some street closures) due to a motorcycle festival. I went to a liquor store later for some rum. I plan to soak the gummies in the rum to make rum-and-coke candies.

I couldn't find my light jacket this morning before work. Luckily, the weather was just warm enough (with no wind) to go out without the jacket. If I don't find it at home, I'll contact some other places I've been recently to see if I left it there. The last time I definitely remember wearing it was June 3rd during FoxTrot. I may have put the jacket inside my fursuit case after taking off the suit at the meet.

I wanted to make an appointment today for my car's hail/dent repair. Unfortunately, the computer system at the shop wasn't working when I called. I'll try again on Monday.
jcollie719: (License JCollie719)
The second auto body shop I visited Tuesday said the larger hail dents in my car would likely add at least $800 to the original damage estimate I got. The time quoted for repairs was half the time compared to the first shop: 2-3 weeks.

I was too tired when I woke up today. I decided to skip this week's Toastmasters meeting since I hadn't signed up for any roles. I don't know if the tired feeling is depression since I don't really feel sad or happy. I made sure to drink two large glasses of water after getting out of bed since I've been slacking off on drinking enough water.

My Subaru's dealership recommended a body shop in Old Colorado City. The person who answered the shop's phone was upfront about their business "not being the cheapest," which is fine. Online, the reviews for the shop are almost all excellent. I will take my car in Tuesday morning for an estimate.

I'll be having dinner with the international cuisine group tonight at Uchenna, the Ethiopian restaurant we visited a few months ago. I plan to try a meat dish tonight since I tried a vegetarian dish the last time.
jcollie719: (Jamie pawpet)
I will call my local Subaru dealer Monday to see if it has a body shop or can recommend one. I'd like to get a second opinion on repairing the dents and hail damage to my car since it shouldn't take over a month to complete. If the work can be done during the weekend of the Denver cruise reunion, I could just rent a car then.
jcollie719: (License JCollie719)
The auto repair shop told me it would take 4-6 weeks to completely repair the hail damage and dents in my car. The shop doesn't have any "loaner" cars, but I can get a discounted rental rate through Enterprise with my car insurance. Renting a car for six weeks at the regular rate would cost me $1,700-2,400. Renting one for Friday-Monday only each weekend wouldn't be much cheaper ($1,600-2,200 total.) My dad might loan me his Oldsmobile during that time, but I'm not sure how he'd feel about me driving it back and forth to Denver for the cruise reunion or for FoxTrot in August if my car isn't fixed by then. I may rent a car just for those two weekends.

My face got sunburned a few days ago. I put some aloe vera on my forehead Saturday night, then spent a large portion of today peeling off the dead skin.

There were a couple of glitches at KRCC this weekend. The recording of "This American Life" ended about 10 minutes early on Saturday, even though the timer on the final track said it would end at :59 after. On Sunday, "A Prairie Home Companion" ended about 4 minutes early. I played music both times to fill the time until the top of the hour.

I overslept again today. Thankfully, I woke up at 5:20, giving me enough time (barely) to shower and drive to work.

I decided to skip tonight's Happy Hour meetup since I still felt sleepy earlier. Usually I'd go if I only felt a little groggy, but this was an occasionally-nodding-off kind of tired. It's a shame because the meetup location was at a bar less than 2 miles from my home.

I booked my hotel room yesterday for Furry Fiesta 2018, and booked a room today for the Denver cruise reunion. I will ask a co-worker at KRCC if he can come in at noon on the Saturday and Sunday of the reunion. This way, I'll only need to make up five hours of lost time during the next KRCC membership drive in October. Working an additional 17 hours during the drive will make up for missing work during Furry Fiesta. The Denver hotel only had rooms available for July 7-9. If I'm unable to get a room for an additional day, I will need to find someone else with bed space for Sunday night or check out around 4 AM Sunday since I will be working until the noon check-out time.

I partially suited last night at the FoxTrot meet. The fursuit's case just barely fit in my car's back seat; I had to move the driver's seat forward and force the case in a bit. The case is 20 inches wide, so I will look for a case that's only 16-18 inches. I didn't see as many friends at the meet since some of them are in Reno at BLFC. I had a cheeseburger, a couple of rum-and-cokes and a few glasses of water before putting on the suit's head, hand paws and tail. There were no chairs in the headless lounge, so I skipped putting on the foot paws. My belt broke during the meet, but it was able to hold my tail for the 20-25 minutes I was in suit. It was slightly dark in the club and difficult to see without my glasses. I got a few hugs and at least one person took my picture. After getting out of suit, I realized I had forgotten to put on a fresh layer of deodorant before the meet. Also, the burger made me a bit farty for a while. I'll do a better job of pre-meet bathing from now on.

R.I.P. Bandit, the border collie belonging to Funday PawPet Show founder Yappyfox.

UPDATE (8:35 AM): I found a couple of Rubbermaid containers that would fit my car: the Roughneck 66-quart tote (16.5 inches wide) and a large FlexTote (15.7 inches.) The latter has a zipper closure to make it more secure for flying. Both are clear.

"I drive a bucket/This ain't Rolls-Royce shit."

I brought my car to an auto body shop today to get an updated estimate for repairing the car's dents and hail damage. The estimate came out to around $6,500. The employee who did the estimate said the repairs would cost more than the car is worth. He recommended just leaving the car as is. I would like to have all the dents taken out since I'll likely be driving it for at least another 5-10 years and would like it to look nicer.

If I can't find a more flight-friendly case for my fursuit (one with a zipper closure instead of the action packer.) I may either drive to Furry Fiesta next year or arrange a ride with someone else. The trip would be about 50% longer than my 2011 trip to Oklacon.
