I searched a listing of psychologists covered by my health insurance. I found one doctor's office located close to home. I'll give it a call on Monday or Tuesday to see if the doctor is accepting new patients. I've been feeling stressed this afternoon.

The roads were mostly clear on my route to work. There's still packed snow/ice on a few of the roads in my neighborhood, but the rest were either cleared or slightly wet from melting snow.

I began shoveling my front walkway when I got home from work. As I opened the door, I heard a few short beeps. When I heard them again, I discovered my carbon monoxide detector was doing the beeping. It kept beeping after I put new batteries in, so I called Utilities. While speaking with an employee, I read the back of the detector and found the beeping pattern (five chirps every 60 seconds) meant the detector needed to be replaced. Utilities sent someone over to inspect my condo and the furnace. Everything was good. The same thing happened back in November at KRCC when someone accidentally set off the CO detector there.

One of the student DJs caused a carbon monoxide detector to go off during my shift on Saturday. I called the utilities company to check out the station. Thankfully, no CO was detected anywhere. It turns out the alarm went off after it was unplugged (the DJ accidentally bumped it.) Utilities said the detector is from 2009 and should be replaced soon. When I came in the following morning, the overnight DJ said the detector started going off again during his show. I left a note for the GM explaining what had happened.

During past membership drives, the Sunday portion of the drive began at 7 AM. When no one else showed up at that time, I looked at the shift sign-up book to find pitching would begin at 11 AM, two hours after my shift ends. I had already begun noting the start times of the news stories to schedule pitching breaks.

I should be more financially stable in 2016. I no longer have a mountain of debt to pay off (just the occasional molehill.) I've got most of my upcoming vacation expenses paid. Unless several more things break next year, I won't have to spend money on repairs.

I went to the Black Sheep tonight to see Suicidal Tendencies perform. While waiting to be let in, I was in line behind someone who... well, "drunk" would be an understatement. The guy had trouble standing, and the bouncers eventually told him he wouldn't be let in. I didn't see my co-worker who had invited me to the concert. The lineup of The Mostly Don'ts, Retox and Suicidal Tendencies was excellent.

I'm glad I've been able to meet more Colorado furries over the past 5 years. I was actualy able to socialize a bit more at Saturday's FoxTrot. Having a couple of "Adios Mother Fuckers" really helped with that.

I haven't heard whether the annual Howl-O-Ween party will happen this year. According to the bits of info I heard, the venue from last year had been sold. KRCC's membership drive starts on October 19th. The station is aiming for a 10-day drive, so it shouldn't interfere with Halloween plans unless it somehow becomes a 13- or 14-day drive. If Howl-O-Ween doesn't happen, I'm still looking forward to the bowling meet in November.

UPDATE: I just got word that Howl-O-Ween will be on Friday the 30th instead of Saturday at Mile High Comics. At least I don't have to worry about missing work.

A few weeks ago, I thought I was having a stroke because I kept smelling a rusty/burning scent. It turns out the plastic grease tray from my George Foreman grill, which was in the top rack of the dishwasher, had fallen out during a wash and started melting and smoking in the bottom of the dishwasher.

My weight is still in roller coaster mode. It went up to 313 lbs. last week, but I was back down to 310 last night. I need to do a better job of actually eating healthier in addition to counting calories. Those cans of vegetables in my cupboard aren't just there for decoration!

Step 1: Change the formats on all of the company's stations.
Step 2: Don't advertise the new formats.
Step 3: ???
Step 4: PROFIT! (or not.)

SoCo Radio flipped the formats of their FM stations again.  The "Kiq'n" country format formerly on 93.9/94.7 has moved to 103.3, giving it a stronger signal again. The new 93.9/94.7 format is classic hip hop called "Buzz."  Easy 101.3 has changed to ESPN.  I didn't listen during the week, so I don't know if 101.3 will be all-sports or still carry the midday Radio Shopping Show (which is also on two AM stations.)

Saturday was another "Even Steven" day, though it ended on a sour note. I got a note in my mailbox saying I will get a raise this month. My good mood was spoiled by a caller who got upset. She wanted to buy tickets at a venue for a performance that night and bring them to the station for us to give away. She was disappointed that I couldn't do this, due to the office being closed to the public on weekends. Since none of the managers are in on weekends, I took the caller's name and number and left a note for the operations manager.

People need to realize that, even though most radio stations run 24/7, the evening/weekend staff can't always help the public with everything. That's why the stations' offices are almost always closed on the weekends.

I wish I had a straitjacket handy. There's a particular person who constantly calls into the station and spouts crazy crap. Today, I "learned" from this person that Thomas Jefferson's policies were responsible for cattle mutilations in Colorado. The sad thing about this is: If I did a show where I presented this garbage as fact, I would probably have a national audience of fools that actually believe it.

I actually got a good night's sleep Saturday night. I fell asleep sometime around 9:00-9:15 PM and slept about seven hours. Unfortunately, I felt sleepy earlier than usual on Sunday night and went to bed around 10 PM.

I don't think I'll get the temporary political job since I haven't heard back from the campaign office (which said they'd call within 24 hours.) My depression is starting to increase again since I keep feeling like giving up everything I'm currently involved in (Toastmasters, furry meets, online chats, etc.) due to lack of both money and motivation. I will be working extra hours at KRCC next Sunday to fill in for one person's shift (and possibly a second.)

I brought my car in for a long-overdue oil change Saturday. While waiting at the shop, another customer began a conversation with me about Subarus. He commented about how reliable and durable they are, but how maintenance is more expensive compared to other brands due to needing specialized parts. Given the fact that my Impreza is nine years old, is still in great shape and has only 65,000+ miles, it should last at least another 10-15 years (as long as I don't total it like I did my previous car.) The other customer said I could get a small truck or SUV and drive that during the summer, then use my Subaru during the winter. I'd obviously need to get a second job, finish paying off my debt and possibly move into a house/townhouse with a garage before considering a second vehicle.

Duct tape would be a good metaphor for my life at the moment. I haven't literally needed it for anything, but I've needed to put off replacing/repairing/upgrading certain things due to lack of funds. My car actually needs a new battery, but my budget was stretched enough with the oil change and changing some of the other fluids.

It's a bit sad when I receive e-mail notifications of a LiveJournal member's birthday, only to find the person hasn't posted a message in at least 3-4 years.

I forgot that my dad went food shopping on Monday last week instead of Wednesday. I picked a few things up after work since I had some coupons for a loaf of bread, lunch meat, cheese and soda.

I still have discomfort from the medical issue I mentioned last week. The stool softener I'm taking has lessened the pain a bit. I have a follow-up appointment with my regular physician later this week.

I needed to park down the street from my condo for a couple of days this week due to my street being repaved.

Since I can't seem to find a full-time (or even part-time) job that only requires Monday-Friday work, I'm torn between keeping my weekend job and being unhappy about my finances, or taking a (not much) higher-paying job Sunday-Saturday and possibly being unhappy about having to quit a job I liked. A minimum-wage job would only pay approximately $11,000/year (30 hours/week) to $15,000 (40 hours.) I would still be partially relying on my dad, though not as much. Years ago, I estimated I would need to make at least $22,000/year to truly live independently. Keeping my weekend job and adding a M-F job would allow me to make at least that much.
