I don't have a Toastmasters meeting this week since next Monday is Labor Day. Later tonight, I'll go to the local furry pizza meet.

I went to the Red Gravy Italian restaurant yesterday with a local Happy Hour group. I need to remember to park in the garage at Colorado and Nevada when I'm dining in the central downtown area. This time I could only find a space with a one-hour meter. I ordered the toasted ravioli appetizer and a local honey wheat beer since the appetizers and draft beers were half-price for happy hour.

I'm hoping my car will be ready before Tuesday since I have to return my rental car then.

I forgot that my therapist's office had moved to a new address. I went to the original location at first, then looked up the new address on my phone.

I missed the Tuesday fur meet, but I'll be going to the Thursday pizza meet near my home. I'll catch The Psychedelegates on Friday night at a bar near Powers and Galley, then FoxTrot is Saturday night.

I just got some sad news on Telegram. Richard Concepcion, the puppeteer who hosted the "Rapid T. Rabbit & Friends" show for over 30 years, has passed away. He was a guest on one of the first "Funday Pawpet Show" episodes I watched, then I found out Rapid's show preceded FPS.

Bucktown Tiger visited Colorado this week. I had dinner with him and his wife Thursday at the Ritz Grill. I hadn't seen Bucktown in person since Furry Fiesta 2015.

My mini-vacation with the cruise reunion group in Denver began Friday afternoon. I checked into the Magnolia Hotel around 1 PM. I had bought a portable DVR to record some of the programs on the stations I can't get in Colorado Springs. The hotel has WiFi, but my room doesn't have an Ethernet connection, which the DVR requires. I didn't know my room had both a refrigerator and a microwave. I had bought a couple of meals for work which don't require refrigeration. Last night, I walked to dinner at a rooftop restaurant and bar. I had already eaten dinner at my dad's house, so I just got a plate of sweet potato fries and a few chocolate martinis. Walking back to the hotel, I bought two bottles of water at 7-Eleven, both for me and my APAP.

This afternoon, I'll go with the reunion group to the Mile High Wine Fest, followed by dinner at the Thirsty Lion. I was greeted at work by the smell of burnt coffee. The Friday evening DJ forgot to turn off the coffee pot before leaving.

I scheduled my car's repair for July 25.

The rum and coke gummies turned out well. I used Captain Morgan spiced rum. The spiced rum is a good match for the sweet cola flavor of the gummies. I just drained the excess rum and drank it, so I'm buzzed at the moment.

I can now use the TSA Pre-Check line when I fly. I used some of my frequent flyer miles to pay for the Pre-Check sign-up.

As I thought, my light jacket was inside my fursuit case.

I let one of the KRCC engineers know the playlist system had Monday's playlist loaded when I came in instead of Sunday's. I don't know if the DJ from the night before clicked on the wrong date or the system itself auto-loaded the wrong date. I brought up the Sunday playlist around 6:20 AM. The "Weather Lady" called the studio this week. I hadn't heard from her for a couple of weeks, so I wasn't sure if something had happened to her. On the other hand, I haven't gotten a call from the "Slime Lady" in months; I hope she found something better to do on weekends. I think I may have forgotten to submit my time card this time. If I don't see the deposit on Friday, I'll add the hours to the next time card.

I went to Rocket Fizz after work to get some gummy cola bottles. I wanted to go to a downtown candy store, but there was no parking nearby (and some street closures) due to a motorcycle festival. I went to a liquor store later for some rum. I plan to soak the gummies in the rum to make rum-and-coke candies.

I overslept again today. Thankfully, I woke up at 5:20, giving me enough time (barely) to shower and drive to work.

I decided to skip tonight's Happy Hour meetup since I still felt sleepy earlier. Usually I'd go if I only felt a little groggy, but this was an occasionally-nodding-off kind of tired. It's a shame because the meetup location was at a bar less than 2 miles from my home.

I partially suited last night at the FoxTrot meet. The fursuit's case just barely fit in my car's back seat; I had to move the driver's seat forward and force the case in a bit. The case is 20 inches wide, so I will look for a case that's only 16-18 inches. I didn't see as many friends at the meet since some of them are in Reno at BLFC. I had a cheeseburger, a couple of rum-and-cokes and a few glasses of water before putting on the suit's head, hand paws and tail. There were no chairs in the headless lounge, so I skipped putting on the foot paws. My belt broke during the meet, but it was able to hold my tail for the 20-25 minutes I was in suit. It was slightly dark in the club and difficult to see without my glasses. I got a few hugs and at least one person took my picture. After getting out of suit, I realized I had forgotten to put on a fresh layer of deodorant before the meet. Also, the burger made me a bit farty for a while. I'll do a better job of pre-meet bathing from now on.

UPDATE (8:35 AM): I found a couple of Rubbermaid containers that would fit my car: the Roughneck 66-quart tote (16.5 inches wide) and a large FlexTote (15.7 inches.) The latter has a zipper closure to make it more secure for flying. Both are clear.

I got a haircut on Tuesday.

My yearly eye exam happened yesterday. The doctor said my vision is a little better than last year. After the exam, I went to dinner in Castle Rock with one of my Meetup groups. The Vista Vino restaurant had its Happy Hour during the time we were there. I got a bowl of white bean chorizo soup and sausage crostini, a couple glasses of Riesling, and caramel mascarpone cheesecake for dessert. I drove a bit further north after dinner and used my portable TV to watch some of the diginets available in Denver.

I don't have a Toastmasters meeting this week since next Monday is Memorial Day. Tonight is the monthly "Drinking Liberally" meeting in Old Colorado City.

KRCC hosted a party for its staff and members yesterday at Jack Quinn's Pub. About 30-40 people showed up. Finding a parking space downtown is almost always difficult. Luckily, a car was backing out of a space right in front of the pub just as I arrived. I had a couple of the pub's creme brulee martinis and the shepherd's pie in a bread bowl.

One of the TV channels I like is no longer available. Laff was previously carried on my cable system via Blue Highways TV. I read the company that owned BHTV went bankrupt. I've contacted the local TV stations in the past about carrying channels like Laff and Antenna TV, but I haven't gotten any response from them. The "diginets" I can receive over the air are Grit, MeTV (shared with MyNetworkTV,) Ion and Cozi TV. I have regularly dreamed about owning a radio or TV station. I think it would actually be cheaper just to buy a house/townhome in the Denver area.

UPDATE: Channel 13 recently added the Heroes & Icons (H&I) channel to a subchannel.

My Washington, DC vacation started out a bit shaky but quickly got much better. Since my tax refund -- around which I budgeted my trip -- won't arrive until next month, I applied for a $1,500 loan through the Lending Tree website in the week before the trip. A local branch of One Main Financial completed the loan and said the money would be in my account on Thursday, the day I flew out to Washington. My mood was dampened a little Thursday morning when I got an e-mail from Lending Tree saying the loan wasn't approved. I greatly reduced my spending that day, then got an e-mail that night from One Main saying the loan actually was approved and the money was in my account!

THURSDAY
My first flight from Colorado Springs to Chicago was very peaceful because no kids were on it. I had a cup of orange juice and a stroopwafel on the flight, then got a tomato and mozzarella sandwich and a bottle of water during the layover in Chicago. There was a kid on the flight from Chicago to DC, but it didn't make a lot of noise.

The singles group went to Whitlow's restaurant in Arlington for dinner Thursday night. I had a barbecue bacon cheeseburger, chocolate cake for dessert and a rum-and-coke. Instead of separate checks for each person, the restaurant gave checks to each table of 5-6 people. I didn't have any cash on me at that point. The bill for the table was $120; the others at the table offered to reimburse me if I paid for the table with my credit card. I figured this would still leave me with enough money left on the card for the hotel and one or two nights of dining, along with cash in my wallet (This was a few hours before I learned my loan was approved.)

Taking the subway back to the hotel, I thought the train's announcer was beatboxing and calling himself "Willie Rest-In-Peace." Looking at the signs, I realized he was saying the train was headed toward the "Wiehle-Reston East" station and the "beatboxing" was just the announcer clumsily putting the microphone in its holder.

FRIDAY
The day started with a group tour of the Capitol building. There was nothing really going on since Congress wasn't meeting at the time. The group had lunch in one of the Dirksen Senate Building's cafes (I had chicken and fries.) A member of our group took us on a tour of the Senate's TV and radio studios.

The group went to Chadwick's bar before the dinner cruise. The cruise went up and down the Potomac river. I had the parmesan chicken for dinner. After the cruise, the group took an Uber ride to the Crystal City Sports Pub near the hotel. The pub was too crowded, so the group went down the street to Bar Louie instead. I had a couple of s'mores martinis.

SATURDAY
I wasn't able to sign up in time for the White House tour (The deadline had passed before I committed to go on this vacation.) I was told the group would meet at Arlington Cemetery for a bus tour at 1 PM. I took the subway and got there by about 12:50. I waited inside the visitors center and asked the group on Facebook when/where the group was supposed to meet. When I didn't get a response by 2:00, I headed back to the hotel.

That night, the group had a few drinks in the hotel bar, then headed down the street to Ted's Montana Grill for dinner. I had a "Red Rock" bison burger and some "Mountain Breeze" martinis (no relation to the Mountain Dew knockoff from Safeway.)

I got back to the hotel around 10 PM, then played some of the games on Steelwoulfe's Jackbox stream for a couple of hours.

SUNDAY
The group had a brunch buffet at the Crystal City Sports Pub. I got some andouille sausage with peppers and onions, some biscuits with chipped beef, and a mimosa. My ankles had blisters from all of the walking I'd done so far. I decided to just have two of the instant pasta cups I packed for lunch, then had dinner later in the hotel's restaurant. I couldn't stay up to listen to all of Doggy Radio because I needed to get some sleep before my flights.

MONDAY
United Airlines had given me two one-time passes to their "United Club" lounges for this trip. I had a two-hour wait at both DC and Chicago's airports, so I visited the lounges at both locations. I had a light snack at each location, along with coffee in Chicago. My flight from Chicago to Colorado Springs left about 40 minutes late. There was a loud kid a couple rows in front of me on this flight. I had eaten an edible before the flight, so I was thankfully relaxed and unaffected by the kid. The flight wasn't too far behind schedule, arriving 10-15 minutes late.

I thought I had lost weight during the vacation due to all the walking I did because the planes' seat belts fit comfortably on all of the flights. When I got home, I saw I had gained 11 pounds. I don't know if I have less body fat than before or United recently installed longer seat belts. I've had to request seat belt extensions on many of my past United flights, but none this time.

Another cruise reunion is scheduled for July in Denver. That will be much easier and cheaper for me.

A few more "talking" breaks were inserted this week into some of the prerecorded programs I run at KRCC. The 10 AM-Noon shows now have a 15-second and two 30-second silent segments per show.

The local Happy Hour group met after work last night at Jack Quinn's Pub in its upstairs bar. I got a plate of "Frickles and Frings" (fried pickles and onion rings with Marie Rose sauce) plus a "90 Shilling" beer, a rum-and-coke and one of the bar's creme brulee martinis. The meetup cut into my normal after-work nap, and being restless overnight limited my usual sleep to about 2 hours.

I forgot to check the mail yesterday, so I'll do that when I get home. My new driver's license should have arrived. I actually didn't realize my current license expired three months ago.

Tonight's weather makes me wish I could have gone to Texas for Furry Fiesta this year. Right now, the wind is picking up and I'll wake up to at least an inch of snow Friday.

Southside Johnny's restaurant is closing this weekend. I'll be there Friday night to hear The Psychedelegates play. One of the singles groups I'm in is going there Saturday night, but I already RSVP'd for another meetup that night.

Since a site I use to look up TV/radio stations for sale doesn't like e-mails from Yahoo or AOL addresses, I changed the e-mail on my Google+ account to a new Gmail account.

My bowling scores this weekend were... non-existent. I was unable to view the official Facebook post about the furry bowling meet this time because it was set to private, and I wasn't given access to it for some reason. A post by someone else on the Colorado Furs FurAffinity page invited people to RSVP for the event, but it didn't mention the participants needed to pay in advance. (Everyone paid at the bowling alley during previous meets.) When I went to enter my name on the scoreboard, another fur mentioned the advance payment. I had a burger and a "Whiskey Orchard" drink, then just stuck around until around 12:20 AM.

Earlier on Sunday, I made a chocolate martini with coconut vodka, creme de cacao and coffee creamer.

Things I need to do this week: Get a haircut, get my car's oil changed and tires rotated, and go through the weekend's mail.

It turns out the plastic tote my fursuit was put in is the perfect size. It's big enough to hold all the fursuit parts, yet small and light enough to carry and fit in my car. For some reason, it just seemed bulkier at first sight.

I went to Tony's Downtown Bar yesterday for a Happy Hour meetup. There was a good-sized group this time: around 65 people. I ordered a Frito chili pie and a mini pitcher of Pabst. Steelwoulfe's game night ended earlier than usual since fewer people showed up this week.

I reserved my hotel room for this year's RMFC yesterday. Only 172 days away!

I had a few nice nights out over the past week. Last Friday, I went to Benny's Lounge to hear the Psychedelegates play. I read a good review about the lounge's food, so I had an order of their bacon jalapeño poppers. On Sunday, I had dinner with the international cuisine group at La Bella Vita Italian restaurant. I ordered a Primavera salad and lasagna. After work tonight, I'll join the Happy Hour group at a downtown bar.
jcollie719: (Headbanger Weird Al)
My co-workers' band, The Psychedelegates, played at Jack Quinn's Pub last night. I only had $40 in my wallet, so I spent $29 on one martini and three local beers. I ate dinner at home beforehand, both to save money and soak up the booze.

The organizers of the FoxTrot meet were able to find a new club for next weekend. The group will be at the Denver Wrangler bar, which also has food service. My next paycheck will be deposited on Tuesday, so I won't have to worry about skimping.

PAY for Sunday, January 22nd: 10 hours (5 AM-3 PM)

I had dinner with the local Happy Hour group Friday at Jose Muldoon's on the east end of town. I've been to the downtown location with the group a few times, but the east location is less than a mile from my home. I got a dinner plate piled high with nachos (and this was a HALF-order!) I wanted to get the restaurant's Horni Blue margarita, but they were out of blue Curacao. Instead, I had a couple of Black and Gold margaritas.

I went to a New Year's Eve party last night. The party was hosted by a member of my singles group; about 60 people attended. I napped for a few hours between work and the party. I had hoped to stay past midnight. Unfortunately, I found myself starting to feel sleepy again around 11:15 (and wanting to get some rest before work) and headed home. I made sure to alternate between drinking alcohol and water so I wouldn't get drunk at the party or be hung over in the morning.

I'll go ahead and start this countdown: 222 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con!
jcollie719: (Xmas Vigoda)
A mix of rain and snow began overnight. It was mostly rain by the time I got up at 4 AM. The roads and sidewalks are slushy, but not slick. This wet snow and enough of the leftover snow from last week will make this a white Christmas. If I'm not feeling too sleepy by the end of my shift today, I will have dinner with my family tonight.

My co-workers' band, The Psychedelegates, played at Jack Quinn's Pub on Friday night. I initially planned to try the pub's shepherd's pie, but I thought it would be too much. I got a reuben sandwich instead. The jalapenos used for the bacon-wrapped jalapeno appetizer were much bigger than I expected. I also had a few creme brulee martinis.
jcollie719: (Foot Up Your Ass Frank)
I enjoyed the KRCC holiday party Sunday night. The restaurant where the party was held is awesome and has great food. However, I need to remember to have a light snack before the party since the food isn't served until 30 minutes or so later. I got a beer when I first arrived. I only took a few sips before the food came out because drinking on an empty stomach triggers my acid reflux. The party this year was much more relaxing for me because no one brought kids.
