Bucktown Tiger visited Colorado this week. I had dinner with him and his wife Thursday at the Ritz Grill. I hadn't seen Bucktown in person since Furry Fiesta 2015.

My mini-vacation with the cruise reunion group in Denver began Friday afternoon. I checked into the Magnolia Hotel around 1 PM. I had bought a portable DVR to record some of the programs on the stations I can't get in Colorado Springs. The hotel has WiFi, but my room doesn't have an Ethernet connection, which the DVR requires. I didn't know my room had both a refrigerator and a microwave. I had bought a couple of meals for work which don't require refrigeration. Last night, I walked to dinner at a rooftop restaurant and bar. I had already eaten dinner at my dad's house, so I just got a plate of sweet potato fries and a few chocolate martinis. Walking back to the hotel, I bought two bottles of water at 7-Eleven, both for me and my APAP.

This afternoon, I'll go with the reunion group to the Mile High Wine Fest, followed by dinner at the Thirsty Lion. I was greeted at work by the smell of burnt coffee. The Friday evening DJ forgot to turn off the coffee pot before leaving.

I reserved a rental car for the weeks my car will be repaired. I will pick up the rental on the 28th instead of the 25th to save a bit of money. The rental will cost about $2,400 including insurance.

Some of the furry stream hosts are at Anthrocon this weekend. There was no mention of another hosted Jackbox Games stream tonight. I'll go to bed in a bit once the fireworks show at Security Service Field ends.

Furry Weekend Atlanta and Motor City Fur Con are taking place this weekend. Because of that, some of the weekend furry shows were off. Bungee Skunk hosted a Jackbox Games stream since Steelwoulfe was away. The Funday PawPet Show stream was supposed to auto-play a rerun, but there was only a black screen after the "Let Your Love Flow" intro played. Fred Bedderhead had his own stream going. I tuned in for the beginning but left to nap for a bit.

Winter appears to be gone for now, though there has been a brief return in late-April in past years.

I've been turning off my front porch light before going to bed for the past few days. My bedroom window faces my front porch. While this can act like a night light, I think it's also affecting my sleep pattern by tricking my mind into thinking it's still daytime.

One thing I like to do in my spare time is to "go back in time" to look at old LiveJournal entries to see what has changed and what hasn't. I also add tags to any old entries where they're missing:
--Last year around this date, the "Colorado Furries Plus" group was shut down due to trolls reporting some of the images posted. I was invited to a private Facebook chat group with the group members, which caused me to not get much sleep that night.
--Five years ago, Melting Temple (a co-worker's former band) released their "Hunter's Moon" EP and held a release party/concert at the Ancient Mariner in Manitou. The band asked me to wear my panda kigurumi to the concert (I had skipped a fur meet to attend) and I got to dance on stage to some of the songs.
--Ten years ago, I was growing tired of being manipulated by a woman who claimed she was needing money for food, medical bills and other expenses. The first few times she asked, I felt sorry for her and sent the money. When the requests started becoming more frequent and she ignored my pleas to stop bugging me, I blocked her and shut down my Camfrog account. I started calling her "hney" because of how she constantly misspelled "honey."

So far, I've signed up for 12 hours' worth of shifts for KRCC's membership drive next week. I need to ask my supervisor if the 9-11 AM phone shift is still volunteers-only. If I could do three of those, that would make up for the hours I'll miss during next month's vacation. There are a few other shifts I might be able to do. However, I'd have to miss some friends' music/talk streams or my Friday dinner with my parents.

"No one knows what it's like to be a dustbin in Shaftesbury with hooligans."

I might need to skip Steelwoulfe's game night tonight or just play a few games. I only got about four hours of sleep last night, and I have a meetup tonight at 7 PM. I do plan to go to bed by midnight, and the game night occasionally goes beyond that.

Things I need to do this week: Get a haircut, get my car's oil changed and tires rotated, and go through the weekend's mail.

It turns out the plastic tote my fursuit was put in is the perfect size. It's big enough to hold all the fursuit parts, yet small and light enough to carry and fit in my car. For some reason, it just seemed bulkier at first sight.

I went to Tony's Downtown Bar yesterday for a Happy Hour meetup. There was a good-sized group this time: around 65 people. I ordered a Frito chili pie and a mini pitcher of Pabst. Steelwoulfe's game night ended earlier than usual since fewer people showed up this week.
jcollie719: (Jcollie719)
Even though I'm well-rested and awake, I don't feel like going out tonight to FoxTrot. In past years, I've had to skip the December FoxTrot due to icy roads. The roads are clear this time, but I'm a bit short on cash and need to buy groceries either Sunday or Monday. Also, KRCC's Christmas party is Sunday night. I'll still take part in some long-distance furry activities tonight since Steelwoulfe's Jackbox game stream starts in a half-hour or so.

I'm glad my body is getting used to a semi-regular sleep schedule. Moving back to the morning shift on Saturdays at KRCC and getting an APAP machine have eliminated most of the tired feelings I get during the day. The only days I have odd sleep hours now are Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, since I nap after my Sunday shift then stay up overnight for The Rabbit Hole and Doggy Radio.

I got my haircut this afternoon. I had a coupon for a free haircut at a new location of Sport Clips, a sports-themed salon featuring TVs at each stylist's chair tuned (during my visit) to ESPN. In addition to the free haircut, the store was running a free "MVP Upgrade" promotion. This included a tea tree oil shampoo with conditioner, hot face towel, and a shoulder and neck massage. The shampoo/conditioner stations also had vibrating chairs!

My collie fursuit was delivered to me this afternoon! I'm a bit tired now, so I just tried on the head.

I forgot this afternoon's Toastmasters meeting was also the monthly potluck meeting. I wasn't sure if it was my turn to bring the main dish or another member's. I brought a "party sub," and another member brought a couple of pizzas. Others brought chicken wings, soda and desserts. No one brought cups, napkins or utensils, so I made a note to bring some next time just in case. I'll be sure to get a travel pack of wet-naps since the chicken wings can get a bit messy.

I'll be seeing the Psychedelegates in about an hour in Manitou Springs, and FoxTrot is tomorrow night! This time, I'll be sure to arrive at FoxTrot around 7:45 for dinner. Speaking of foxes, the credit union branch I went to yesterday had a large stand-up display of the Carfax "Car Fox." I wanted to take a picture of it, but I wasn't sure if that was permitted inside the credit union.

I had much more success with the APAP machine Saturday. I took a Xanax after work to make me less anxious about the mask. I was actually able to get a good night's sleep, and so far I don't hear any snoring on the recording I made. On previous weekends, I felt myself dozing off in the middle of some work shifts. Today I only felt a little sleepy about 15 minutes before the shift's end.

PAY for Friday, September 23rd: 5 hours (3-8 PM)
Saturday, September 24th: 9 hours (6 AM-3 PM)
Sunday, September 25th 10 hours (5 AM-2 PM and 7-8 PM)

UPDATE (Monday 3:30 AM): I picked up a few groceries before my Sunday night fill-in shift. After the shift, I had to refill my car's gas tank since it was almost empty. The Safeway's gas station had regular for $1.99/gallon, which was reduced to $1.79 with the discounts I had earned. I began to feel sleepy again during The Rabbit Hole, so I laid down in bed and put on the APAP machine for a bit. I took a Xanax and will likely go back to bed within an hour. Doggy Radio is about to do "The Quickening," so the show is close to ending for tonight.

Last night, I constantly had the feeling I had something I needed to do today. I slept in due to staying up last night listening to The Rabbit Hole and Doggy Radio. As I was making lunch, I noticed my jury duty notice on the counter saying I needed to serve today if needed! I called the phone number to see if I needed to report. Thankfully, my juror number was within the range of those not needed.

I finally get to bring my car in to have the hood and windshield replaced tomorrow. I initially arranged to return the rental car at 1 PM Thursday, but I have a sleep doctor's appointment then. I modified the reservation to return the rental at 11 AM. That will knock $20-30 off the bill.

Whoever organized last night's fur meet at Tom's Diner in Denver did a poor job. When I got to the diner, the staff hadn't heard anything about the group or the meet. I wondered if the organizer asked the diner if fursuiting would be okay. I don't know if the organizer even showed up since the meetup page didn't indicate who the event host was. There were 15-20 people in our group, which may have overwhelmed the staff. Also, I'm sure the staff was a bit nervous when a couple of furries popped in and out to change into suit since there were signs everywhere about cameras and warning against "dine and dash." Another furry who stayed later than I did claimed the staff eventually said the group would have to leave by a certain time. That furry said he would try to find another location for the meet.

For the most part, the meet went well and the food was great. I just hope whoever plans the next meet makes sure the venue knows about the group and is okay with having big fuzzy animals inside.

I finally got through to the woman making my fursuit. She said it is almost done!

1. Singles cruise
2. Furry Fiesta and RMFC
3. Get a fursuit (currently in progress!)
4. Get (and keep) my weight below 300.
5. Stick to a schedule for certain duties (taking out the trash, checking the mail, etc.) or just stop putting things off until the last minute.

I've accomplished the first two resolutions this year. I will contact my fursuit's maker later today to get a progress update. My weight is still hovering in the same 310s range that it was last year. I've definitely failed at the fifth resolution.

Compared to 2015, I'm doing less "okay" financially, but not poor enough to resurrect the #brokeasscollie hashtag on Twitter. I will see a doctor in a couple of weeks about the results of my sleep test. I hope a CPAP or whatever else the doctor recommends will improve my sleep. That would help me feel more alert and less cranky during the day, which would also reduce my tendency to snack/overeat due to being angry or tired.

I hope to keep another goal alive for next year: attending Biggest Little Fur Con. I tried to book a hotel room online when the room block opened, but I couldn't find any available for the entire weekend. I'll see if anyone with a room is looking for roommates, or hopefully the room block will be expanded later on.
jcollie719: (Jcollie719)
I got home from RMFC and realized I forgot to pick up one of the items I got as a Super Patron. At registration, one of the things I got was the personalized back of a director's chair. I was told I could get the rest of the chair at Con Ops, but I kept forgetting to go there. I was unable to meet with the person who made a badge for me. After work Sunday, I planned to ask him to bring the badge to my hotel room, but he had to leave the con early.

I had a good time at RMFC, though I wish work hadn't interfered with how long I could stay. I missed the late Friday/Saturday and early Saturday/Sunday events due to my KRCC shifts (and not finding a sub for them.) I registered for next year's RMFC on Sunday night. The con will be back at the DTC Marriott then.

If I-25 traffic is backed up tomorrow afternoon, I'll take Highway 83 back to Denver. There's not much difference distance- or time-wise. I had gone the opposite direction this morning, heading west to Palmer Lake then north to Larkspur. Sadly, the I-25 traffic was still backed up a little in Larkspur. I'll be working at KRCC from 5 AM-3 PM Sunday since a co-worker needed me to fill in from 2-3 PM. This will still get me back to RMFC in plenty of time for the closing ceremonies. If I'm not too tired Sunday night, I might even go to the dance or karaoke. Tonight, I'll likely go to bed after the cocktail party. If I'm not tired then, I'll probably go to the Match Game.

The fur who made a badge for me said he'd be at the cocktail party, so I'll pick it up then.

My KRCC co-worker recently got a bunch of Whoopie Pies. Today, he gave me a peanut butter/chocolate pie to take home (or to the hotel in this case.)
jcollie719: (Panda Kigurumi)
I arrived at the RMFC hotel around 12:30 PM Thursday. Today is a slow day for me. I only attended the opening ceremony and will head down to the Guest of Honor dinner in less than an hour.

I just noticed the letters U and N in the Sunkist logo are conjoined. It makes the name look like Sinkist.

I keep missing private messages from a furry who made a badge for me. I'm not constantly monitoring FurAffinity, so I don't read the messages until an hour or two after he sends them. I know we follow each other on Twitter, so I had asked him to either message me there or send a text to my phone.

Mopping up

I still haven't heard from the woman making my fursuit. I checked my e-mail's spam folder to see if any messages ended up there, but nothing from her. I wonder if she started using a new Internet device this year since the last DM I got from her was last December.

A plumber just came over and found there is water leaking in the crawlspace. He is currently fixing the leak. He said other homes in the area had similar problems due to older pipes and recommended replacing them. He also called someone else to come over and remove the water from the crawlspace.

UPDATE: One of the leaky pipes was replaced, but the people drying the crawlspace found another pipe had begun leaking. The plumber will return tomorrow morning, followed by the crawlspace guys in the afternoon. I'm considering the plumber's initial recommendation of replacing all the pipes, possibly while I'm on vacation. My condo was built in 1982, and the plumber said the pipes in my building were either recalled or banned in the 1970s.

For some reason, I haven't been receiving Facebook private messages from the woman making my fursuit. The last message I got was from last December. She replied to one of my regular posts to say she had been trying to send me updated pictures of the suit. I gave her my e-mail address and am hoping that works.

Well, some good things happened this weekend: I was able to get a good night's sleep Friday night/Saturday morning, my new front door access card for KRCC worked, and I wasn't too tired when my Saturday night shift ended.

Now for the bad news: My allergies really acted up during the Saturday morning shift, though taking a Zyrtec before the afternoon/evening shift alleviated them. Also, a closure on I-25 after work caused me to be stuck in traffic for over 40 minutes. By the time the traffic cleared, I didn't feel like going to FoxTrot and just drove home to get more sleep.

Before work, I set up an "auto-pilot" stream on my home laptop of furry videos on Ustream to watch during down times at work. Unfortunately, one of the videos had some sort of glitch. I'm reformatting that video to see if the problem goes away. Also, I'll try using Furstream or iVlog next time since Ustream airs ads every 15-20 minutes.

38 days until my cruise!

I went to Sprocket and Grizdog's furry bowling meet Saturday night. Since I didn't arrange to be on a team ahead of time, the organizers picked a lane which needed one or two more players. Three of the others on my lane turned out to be members of the Furry Raiders. Contrary to the drama surrounding the group, they were very friendly to me, though some other furries complained about them being loud and obnoxious.

If this bowling meet continues to grow, I hope the organizers will spread out the furries a bit more. I know cost is a factor, but I'd love to have either three hours of bowling or more lanes reserved next time so only three or four bowlers will be on a lane. With five people per lane, some of the lanes couldn't complete two full games within two hours; my lane ended the second game in the 9th frame. My scores were 91 for the first game and 100 for the incomplete second game.
