While my rental car was at the car wash last Friday, I bought a car cell phone holder that attaches to the A/C vents. Having the phone closer to eye level will allow me to use the GPS without taking my eyes off the road, and also hear any directions or other audio better. Also, the A/C can cool off the phone since it occasionally gets hot when operating/charging in the car for a while. The cell phone battery I ordered on Amazon was out of stock, so it won't arrive with the SD card and a new mouse. I found another seller and ordered a battery there.

This weekend, the owners of the furstre.am web site shut down the site. As a result, the Funday Pawpet Show decided to shut down after 17-18 years. I began watching FPS in 2009 and made it part of my regular Sunday night entertainment. I'll definitely miss it.

I reserved a rental car for the weeks my car will be repaired. I will pick up the rental on the 28th instead of the 25th to save a bit of money. The rental will cost about $2,400 including insurance.

Some of the furry stream hosts are at Anthrocon this weekend. There was no mention of another hosted Jackbox Games stream tonight. I'll go to bed in a bit once the fireworks show at Security Service Field ends.

My Dreamwidth account is almost ready. I signed up for an account Tuesday night, and everything except the journal comments have been transferred from LiveJournal. (The comments began loading a few minutes ago.)

Since Rocky Mountain Fur Con is kaput, I was looking at other conventions I might like to attend. Biggest Little Fur Con is less than two months away. However, I'd like to find something later in the year this year. Attending an October con would depend upon when KRCC holds its Fall membership drive (usually the end of October.)

Tonight's weather makes me wish I could have gone to Texas for Furry Fiesta this year. Right now, the wind is picking up and I'll wake up to at least an inch of snow Friday.

Southside Johnny's restaurant is closing this weekend. I'll be there Friday night to hear The Psychedelegates play. One of the singles groups I'm in is going there Saturday night, but I already RSVP'd for another meetup that night.

Since a site I use to look up TV/radio stations for sale doesn't like e-mails from Yahoo or AOL addresses, I changed the e-mail on my Google+ account to a new Gmail account.

Both of the errands I scheduled for today wound up not going as planned. I brought my car to an auto body shop to get an estimate for fixing the hail damage. I was told I needed to bring the written estimate USAA gave me (I forgot it.) Later, I went to a credit union where another Toastmasters member and I were supposed to meet to open a new club account. I waited inside for over an hour, but the other member never showed up.

I may just delete my LinkedIn account. I haven't had any luck finding a job using that site. Several of my "connections" on LinkedIn have said the site hasn't helped them either.

This afternoon, I attended a seminar about starting a business. While I already knew about half of the information presented at the meeting, the additional information and resources will give me much more help in either starting a new radio/TV station or buying an existing one.

I felt sleepy toward the end of the seminar (though not due to the seminar itself) and did my best to hide my yawns. I watched Matthew Ebel's live music stream when I got home, then fell asleep after that. My roughly four-hour nap caused me to miss the "Turn Up The Night" political talk show I enjoy. I thought I had missed the beginning of Bucktown Tiger's show, but he had started late.

I'm cleaning off my sofa as well as I can tonight and will take out the trash tomorrow morning. Updates were made to my Medicare plan, and a couple of people will be visiting Wednesday to explain the updates. I was going to do the cleaning tomorrow morning, but I will only have about 20-30 minutes to get ready since I will be answering phones at KRCC from 6-9 AM and 3-7 PM Wednesday.

I officially signed up to give my Toastmasters speech on October 7th. I let the group know I would miss the September 23rd meeting.

I'm gradually adjusting to my new weekend work/sleep schedule. The biggest adjustment I need is to make sure I take a nap after my Saturday shift so I don't get tired during evening activities (FoxTrot, Steelwoulfe's game night, etc.) I listened to a political talk show online after work yesterday (big mistake!) Furstream was down and the weekend shows which broadcast there used other services. I was too tired to stay awake for game night and slept from around 8 PM-1:30 AM.

I was cold when I woke up yesterday. I had hoped to put this off until October, but I turned on my thermostat and programmed it to be in the mid- to upper-60s throughout the day. So far, the furnace has only needed to run in the early morning since the afternoon temperatures are still warm.

I'll still be driving around in a dented car for a few more days. I dropped the car off at BumperDoc today, but they found the local rental car companies didn't have any cars available. I will now bring my car in next Tuesday, and I reserved a rental car for Tuesday-Thursday. Sadly, the rental company no longer honors BumperDoc's discount rate.

I reinstalled Troll Starver for YouTube live chats on my browser today. I had installed it previously but uninstalled it because it wasn't working for me. I discovered I needed to click-drag the troll's icon into the "block" box instead of the troll's username. It works just fine now.

I picked up a medical device this morning to monitor my sleep. I need to wear it tonight to see if I truly do have sleep apnea. I'll return it to the clinic tomorrow morning, then drop off my car to get the windshield and hail damage repaired.
jcollie719: (Luigi)
I talked to my physician on Wednesday about sleep apnea. A sleep clinic is supposed to contact me in the next few days to schedule an appointment. I scored higher on the pre-appointment depression survey, going from a score of 13/26 last time to 21/26. The recent changes at work and my general sleep problems certainly played a role in this.

Someone actually flirted with me during a friend's stream last night. While I'm flattered by the compliments, having them come from some anonymous text on a screen makes me uncomfortable. Past come-ons over the internet didn't work out well for me, which is why I try to avoid them.

Mopping up

I still haven't heard from the woman making my fursuit. I checked my e-mail's spam folder to see if any messages ended up there, but nothing from her. I wonder if she started using a new Internet device this year since the last DM I got from her was last December.

A plumber just came over and found there is water leaking in the crawlspace. He is currently fixing the leak. He said other homes in the area had similar problems due to older pipes and recommended replacing them. He also called someone else to come over and remove the water from the crawlspace.

UPDATE: One of the leaky pipes was replaced, but the people drying the crawlspace found another pipe had begun leaking. The plumber will return tomorrow morning, followed by the crawlspace guys in the afternoon. I'm considering the plumber's initial recommendation of replacing all the pipes, possibly while I'm on vacation. My condo was built in 1982, and the plumber said the pipes in my building were either recalled or banned in the 1970s.

For some reason, I haven't been receiving Facebook private messages from the woman making my fursuit. The last message I got was from last December. She replied to one of my regular posts to say she had been trying to send me updated pictures of the suit. I gave her my e-mail address and am hoping that works.

I brought my laptop to work Saturday to attempt an "auto-pilot" stream on iVlog. Some of my settings were not correct since there was initially an audio echo. I got rid of the echo and restarted the stream, but I wasn't sure if the video was working or not. I gave up on streaming around 4:30 since "Oh! Pawpets" was doing an actual in-studio show (though not a full pawpet stage show.)

As an older cartoon said, "My desire to be well-informed is currently at odds with my desire to remain sane." Between the elections, the shootings in Orlando and other events, I find myself listening to news reports and podcasts only 5-10 minutes at a time before pausing them to "recover."

"I didn't get no sleep 'cause-a y'aaaall! Y'all never get no sleep 'cause-a meeee!"

One of the Facebook groups I belong to was shut down a day or two ago. The group organizer set up a private chat room for the members. In a bit of bad timing, my cell phone private message tone began sounding around 11:00 last night as I was trying to fall asleep. I decided to stay up for a couple of hours to chat, then signed off and went back to bed. My attempt to fall asleep again was foiled by someone posting to the group just after 3 AM. I set my cell phone to "Do Not Disturb" mode, but allowing the wake-up alarm. I got maybe 10-15 minutes of sleep. I'll get more sleep after work today.

I discovered quite a few online radio stations I listen to are going dark by January 1st due to increases in music licensing fees on that date. One of the stations I currently have playing is a furry-run station called Furocity Radio.

I've been fantasizing again about owning a radio station. Since two potential signals for sale are in a rural area east of Colorado Springs and Denver, I pictured using "Hank FM" (a country variety format similar to rock/AC-based Jack FM) or a country-rock hybrid format for them. I've also thought about news/talk or rhythmic oldies for a few other stations.

KRCC's membership drive will likely wrap up this weekend. This is the first drive in a long time where I wasn't constantly stressed out during my Saturday/Sunday shifts. So many positive things have happened in my life since last October, and I made sure to get enough rest and nourishment before each shift. Breakfast for the morning shift usually arrives/is made around 7:30, but I used to feel grumpy when I came to work at 6:00 on an empty stomach. Having a light snack before work alleviated that.

Speaking of so many positive things happening in my life, my 10-year anniversary on LiveJournal will be in a few weeks. Back in May 2005:

* I was still living with my parents since I couldn't afford an apartment.

* I was recovering from an April 2005 auto accident. I had broken my right knee, right ankle and left wrist.

* I worked two jobs: Board operator/announcer at KRCC-FM (which I still do today) and news writer at Metro Networks (2001-2008.)

* I hadn't heard of the "furry fandom" until the following year, but I liked to pretend I was a dog ever since I was a teenager.

* I created the LJ account mainly to comment on a Web comic (Purple Pussy) that shut down a few months later.

Today I live in a condo (though my dad had to buy it for me,) the Subaru Impreza I bought after totaling my previous car is still in great condition, I haven't broken any bones since then, and I'm debt-free. I set up accounts with MySpace, Twitter, Facebook and Fur Affinity. MySpace is the only account I haven't updated recently.

My new modem and Prism TV service were installed Wednesday. It's nice to watch/listen to Web shows on my laptop again instead of a smaller smartphone screen. Having a super-fast connection makes for a more pleasant experience with little to no buffering.
jcollie719: (lunchiesdogangl)

My WiFi should be up and running again in 13-17 hours. I tried to watch [livejournal.com profile] bucktowntiger 's stream tonight, but Anthrochat and Furstream had trouble running properly on my cell phone. I hope the new modem lasts much longer.

jcollie719: (weird al yankovic shocked)

I bought a new microwave oven today. Since I have some plate covers, this oven should remain cleaner for a longer time.

My modem stopped working properly yesterday. I can still play some streams through iTunes, but all of my other online stuff will be done via cell phone. A new modem will arrive next week. I also opted to switch from DirecTV to PrismTV.

jcollie719: (Jackass Fish Slap)
I've been fasting since late last night for a blood test.  I'll head to the hospital in about an hour.

I took a "media mug shot" picture.  The coffee mugs are from KRCC-FM (where I work weekends,) local NBC affiliate KOAA-TV, and two online political shows I enjoy: Turn Up the Night with Kenny Pick, and the Bob and Chez Show.
