More phone expenses

My cell phone's power button fell off sometime between my last delivery and when I got home. The phone's volume and Bixby buttons had fallen off a few months ago. I looked around my condo and in my car for the missing button but couldn't find it. I took the phone to a repair shop this morning. It will take a couple days to get the new buttons since my phone is so old (Samsung Galaxy S9+.) It should be ready by Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm looking for a new phone online. My cell service provider has lots of good options with monthly payment plans.

I bought a new cell phone holder for my car since my old holder doesn't stay attached to the car's vertical air conditioning vents. I also got a pair of phone charging cords because the cord I have doesn't work anymore.

Thanks to a game show clip, I now say "chickennnn!" every time I get a delivery order from Popeye's Chicken. This is from the Canadian version of Family Feud: Popeye's favourite food is... Chicken? | Family Feud Canada

Once again, I wish Telegram had a "do not disturb" feature. I hate when two or more people message me at the same time then ask why I'm not responding right away. I'm not a juggler.

In one of Saturday Night Live's books, a writer talked about a moment when Lorne Michaels cut them off by saying "conversation over." I really need to use something like this (maybe a more polite phrase) when dealing with people who try to converse with me while I'm either working or playing Jackbox games online.

There was mostly rain today. For a brief moment, I saw either a little snow or frozen rain mixed in with the regular rain.

I'm actually working on a brand-new playlist for this Saturday's Rabbit Hole. The past few weeks have used playlists from previous shows since I've been so busy with deliveries.

There's supposed to be rain and snow on Thursday through Friday morning. Hopefully it won't be too severe.

After making deliveries to the far west, north and south of the county, I got a few deliveries this week that were out east.

Asking me to not get annoyed almost guarantees I will be annoyed.

Getting insured again

I've spent the last hour or so on the phone trying to get my Anthem health insurance reinstated. I had cancelled it on March 31st to sign up for a state Medicaid plan. I just got a letter saying I was not approved for that plan because I didn't submit a specific piece of information.

UPDATE (8:50 PM): I went online to Colorado's health exchange website and signed up for a new insurance plan from another provider. It will be slightly cheaper than my old Anthem plan, but it's still $700 per month.

Sour stomach but great haul

During one part of the Rabbit Hole over the weekend, I had forgotten to turn off my microphone after a break. I didn't realize this until I had quietly cursed between two songs. I'm glad this wasn't at a commercial radio job.

At the end of Sunday's delivery shift, I had three Walmart orders. I was able to deliver two of them, but the customer for the third order never came out of the hotel where he was staying and didn't respond to messages from me or UberEats. I had to return the order (a bunch of bananas) to Walmart afterward. I had still made enough deliveries to get an extra bonus. My total for the past week was an all-time high of $1,050.18.

I had been dealing with acid reflux for part of Sunday. I took a break to both recharge my phone and go to a drugstore for some Pepcid AC.

Smelly car

Yes, the brussels sprouts are definitely in this bag!

I had one delivery for dinnertime which included brussels sprouts. I could still smell them in my car even after I delivered them.

I know that Colorado's DMV skipped over certain three-letter combinations when issuing license plates if the combo resembled a four-letter obscenity. I wonder if they still do that now that plates have four letters. When I got my new car, I was hoping to get a plate starting with ERP for effective radiated power. Having K as the fourth letter would have been a great bonus.

I accomplished what I thought would be a difficult delivery goal for this week. I made 50 UberEats deliveries between Monday and tonight, so I earned a $100 bonus.

One of my deliveries tonight was a HUGE grocery order from Walmart. I had to deliver it to an extremely rural part of the county with not just dirt roads, but really rough dirt roads. These roads didn't have potholes, they had canyons! Even though my Subaru could have handled them easily, I still took it very easy so I wouldn't damage any of the groceries.

Not a smooth day

In addition to yesterday's car oil change, yesterday's workday was interrupted by taking my dad to a routine doctor's appointment and my cell phone's battery dying. I bought a new wireless charger since the phone's wired charging port doesn't always work. I hope I can eventually get a new phone.

I haven't gotten a poop cup in the mail yet for my doctor's colonoscopy request. I also haven't received a ticket in the mail yet for speeding in a school zone earlier this month. Hopefully I've been let off the hook for that.

I had a catering delivery today. I ended up making the delivery about 15 minutes late because a delivery before that had to go all the way to Woodland Park. Another delivery later today ended up being late because an accident closed part of the street I was on. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get out of the jam and onto a detour.

I'm fine, really

I've found myself using the word "fine" a lot when people ask me how I am. Most of the time, fine means not great but not terrible. When I use it with the furry artists who message me while I'm working, there's usually an unspoken "now quit bugging me" after it.

During my last delivery Monday night, the customer asked me to take a picture with his friend who was passed out drunk in the back of a truck.

While delivering today, I discovered my car was overdue for an oil change. In a bit of perfect timing, I got a catering order for an hour later after I pulled into a quick lube place.

A really nice 69 (dollar bonus)

Happy 4/20!!!

UberEats offers drivers bonuses for completing a certain number of deliveries during the week or the weekend. Between Friday and Sunday, I completed 20 deliveries for a $43 bonus, then another 10 deliveries for $26, making a total of $69 in addition to the regular delivery pay and tips. My delivery total for the week was $838.56.

Some new art I got (A.I., sadly) shows Jerzei working at a bakery called Twilight Treats. Just out of curiosity, I searched the name and found there is a store with that name in Massachusetts.

Today's snow wasn't too bad. Visibility was a bit lower, but it was just warm enough for the snow to not stick to the roads.

One of my UberEats customers called me after I had picked up his order but before I delivered it. He said he was called into work unexpectedly and didn't want his ice cream to melt while he was away, so he canceled his order and said I could keep it.

Brief return to Winter

The forecast for Colorado Springs shows a 40-50% chance of snow showers on Friday and 20% on Saturday morning.

My delivery shifts usually start out on the north end of the city and gradually work their way south to Fountain and Fort Carson. Monday went in the opposite direction, starting up north but moving further north to Monument and Black Forest.

I really hope one of the furry artist's claim of a medical emergency is authentic and not a repeat of another scam from about 20 years ago. Back in 2007, I had sent several hundred dollars to a woman from the Philippines who I dubbed "hney" because of how she misspelled "honey."

Bigger payday

For some reason, the GPS directions' voice stopped playing over my car's Bluetooth when the radio is playing. I downloaded classic hits station KDZA's phone app so I can still listen to it while being able to hear the GPS voice.

The past week's delivery earnings were $714.05. I'll need to work even harder this week since I need to pay the bills for my Visa card, telephone/internet and license plate renewal.

I uploaded one of the recent artworks I got to FurAffinity Sunday night. Almost immediately, I got a few comments saying the art was AI. I deleted the submission so I wouldn't get in trouble.

Deja vu show

I didn't realize I had forgotten to pay to renew the Second Life server that I use for the Rabbit Hole. I purchased a new server with the Lindens I have and made a note on my phone calendar when the server rental is about to expire.

Today's Rabbit Hole was kind of a rerun. I was so busy during the week, I couldn't put together a playlist for the show. I just took one of my playlists from last November and played four hours from that.

Two of the furry artists I've been trying to pay off over the last few months decided to do more "surprise" art for me. Even though I'm working more and longer delivery shifts, I'm making just enough to keep my account in the black. The certificate of deposit I had forgotten to cash out last year is maturing later this month, so I will cash it out then. I won't make the same mistake with this as I did with my tax refund.

I need to get a haircut soon. I'm also waiting for something from my doctor, who wanted me to get a colonoscopy. He'll be sending a kit in the mail to send him a stool sample.

I took my change jar to the credit union to pad my account a little. I was expecting to only have $30-40 worth of change based on past trips. This time, I had $88.29!

One of the reasons I hate driving at night is that the delivery customers sometimes don't turn their house lights on. If I ever owned an actual house, one thing I'd do is paint the address numbers in glow-in-the-dark paint to make things easier at night.

UPDATE (10:20 PM): I had forgotten that my dad was going to take me out to dinner tonight. We went to Cracker Barrel because Dad heard great things about their fish and chips. I had a hamburger steak with corn and mac & cheese, along with some "biscuit beignets" for dessert. Those are biscuit pieces covered in cinnamon and sugar, and served with a butter pecan dipping sauce.

I wish Telegram had a "do not disturb" feature. I hate when I'm trying to relax and one of the furry artists messages me, especially late at night. If I decide to respond to the artist, the others decide to message me since I'm online. I haven't had as much time to relax lately, so anything that disturbs that puts me in a bad mood.

Gotta not go fast

I might be getting a ticket in the mail soon. While I was delivering yesterday, I passed one of the city's new "photo enforcement" vehicles and then noticed I was driving 29 MPH in a school zone.

Even though doing more deliveries can be tiring, I'd love to have more weeks of high earnings like this one. I'm at about $450 and still have Sunday to go.

I canceled my YouTube TV subscription since I only use it to watch one or two channels. This will keep another $83 each month in my account.

Something unusual happened during my deliveries tonight. I had a couple deliveries to Fort Carson. When I went on base during the first delivery, the soldier at the entrance gate said he liked my mustache. I thanked him.

I wanted to accept a two-delivery UberEats order listed for today, but I wasn't sure how big the orders would be. The last time I accepted a three-delivery order, I discovered two of the orders would not have fit in my car. I wish UberEats would let its clients review the exact contents of the orders to make things easier.

More dashing week

I made over $300 last week doing DoorDash and UberEats deliveries. A large portion of the UberEats deliveries were made to the Fort Carson Army base. Getting on base is sometimes tedious because there's a long line to get on base during certain times. Thankfully, the digital pass linked to my driver's license is good until April 4th, so I still have a few days of less hassle.

I wish getting gas didn't take about one-third of my earnings. At least I use the Upside app to get a few dollars back.

UberEats' GPS system reads the initials N, S, E and W as directions. I had a delivery Sunday from Rock N Roll Sushi, which the GPS read as "Rock North Roll Sushi." Later, directions involving Milton E. Proby Parkway were read as "Milton East Proby Parkway."

I helped my dad make another of my mom's recipes Friday. This time it was spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was completely made from scratch. I took home some of the sauce and meatballs after dinner, and Dad had given me a box of spaghetti with my groceries on Thursday.
