Light up the...whoops!

Two of the adhesive hooks holding my Christmas lights in the window came loose yesterday. I couldn't reattach the hooks and push pins wouldn't hold the lights in place, so I've got them draped over the fireplace and TV. During the move, part of the cord dropped and one of the bulbs shattered. I wish I had gone shopping last night to pick up some new bulbs. Half the bulbs in the strand are burned out.

Before going to bed, I had a depressing thought and an encouraging thought. The depressing thought was whether or not I'll ever get married. The encouraging thought was if I save the money currently in my Roth IRA (using the Rule of 72) it will grow to about $448,000 by the time I'm 68.

I don't know if I'll be hearing from my last date again. I've called her three times since the date and gotten her machine, but she hasn't returned my calls. The only reason I'm still using this dating service is because I spent a huge amount of money on it and can't get a refund.

Wikipedia had its article on Frank Zappa listed on its main page today, which is the 15th anniversary of his death from prostate cancer.

EDIT: I've just been told the New Year's Singles Cruise reunion in San Diego was canceled due to a lack of response. The organizers said a Halloween reunion will be held next year in Las Vegas. That would be a bit easier for me since one airline offers nonstop flights between Vegas and Colorado Springs for $69 each way. I've been to Vegas once before with my grandmother and had a great time.

Writer's Block: Gone but Not Forgotten

[Error: unknown template qotd] I miss Arrested Development. I loved how it was able to be funny without needing a laugh track, and how it worked references to its battle to stay on the air into the show (i.e. having one season reduced from 23 to 18 episodes and rumors of being picked up by HBO or Showtime.) I'm glad I have all three seasons on DVD.
