Meeting to Kung POW! anxiety
Jun. 26th, 2010 11:51 pmPAY for Saturday, June 26th: 2.5 hours (2-4:30 PM)
Sunday, June 27th: 7.5 hours (5-9 AM and 1-4:30 PM)
I went to a dinner for people with social anxiety. I had hoped leaving work around 4:35 would allow me to get to the restaurant about 5-10 minutes early. I checked I-25 traffic online before leaving and saw a slowdown between Interquest Pkwy. and North Gate Road, so I tried to detour around it. Unfortunately, I forgot that Voyager Pkwy. connected with North Gate and would be a much quicker detour, so I probably spent as much time going around the area as would have if I'd stayed on I-25. Getting close to Denver, I noticed my gas tank was nearing empty. I was still on schedule then, so I pulled into a station to refill and pick up a few items I needed. In Denver, I was slowed down both by the local I-25 traffic and by the heavy rain. I called the dinner's organizer while stopped at a light to let her know I'd be a bit late. I arrived at about 6:05.
During dinner, I didn't talk quite as much as I would have liked to, but I managed to contribute a bit to others' conversations. I told them about my radio work and belonging to a Toastmasters club. This group only meets once or twice a month and doesn't have a set meeting time, so I may be able to join them again next time.
Thanks to my friend the Internet, I was able to get a rough estimate of how many calories I consumed at dinner. Some of the information didn't include serving sizes and the members of the group actually shared some of their dishes with others. I estimated I had 750-800 calories. I had eaten about 1/3 of my dish, shared some with the others and took the rest home for Sunday morning.
