I made an appointment for Wednesday to get a flu shot and COVID booster shot. I'll be going to a meetup later that day, so I hope the shots won't make me feel sluggish.

DenFur just released its attendance numbers for this year. They had 3,623 attendees, or about 600 below last year's total.

I tested negative for COVID. Even though FoxTrot is tonight, I will skip this one. Several attendees at DenFur reported catching COVID. I'm just nervous about someone not knowing they have COVID showing up at FoxTrot, or someone who knows they have it but comes anyway.

My right knee is feeling better today. It feels a bit stiff, but there's no pain and I'm not limping anymore. I was afraid the knee might be broken, and I was prepared to go to the hospital today if I was still in pain. I will take it easy and try not to put too much weight on the knee for a few days.

I will test myself for COVID tomorrow. I don't have any of the symptoms, but a few people I know who went to DenFur tested positive.

Calendar titled "Dogs Pooping in Beautiful Places"
https://www.amazon.com/Dogs-Pooping-Beautiful-Places-Calendar/dp/B0CGF88NK3

There's plenty of similar calendars as well. I didn't realize the market for pooping dog calendars was so high!

The light bulb in my bedroom lamp burned out this week. I wouldn't make a big deal out of that normally, but the lamp uses a specific type of bulb instead of the ones most light fixtures use. I ordered a box of bulbs which I hope will actually fit the lamp. The lamp's warning label said to only use an S11 bulb, but that's the type of glass. I don't know if the base of the bulb is the right one, but it looks like the old bulb.

From now on, I'll get any needed injections in my right arm. I got my COVID shot in my left arm, which makes it difficult to sleep on my left side.

Note to telemarketers: You're the main reason my dad's phone number is unlisted (and my listing is only my number without my address.) My dad and I both get calls once in a while from someone claiming to want to buy our homes.

I've noticed that sometimes my phone has a different ring pattern. Instead of one regular ring, my phone does a short ring/long ring/short ring pattern. I wonder if that's to indicate a robocaller.

I'm getting my COVID booster Thursday afternoon.

Since I attended FoxTrot last weekend, I tested myself today to see if the icky feeling I'm having is COVID. Luckily, I tested negative for that.

As of now, Tropical Storm Idalia is somewhere between Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. It should head into the Atlantic Ocean around 2 AM Eastern and head toward Bermuda.

A few furries announced they had tested positive for COVID after Furry Fiesta. I tested myself Friday and got a negative result. I will do another test on Sunday night just to make sure I'm safe.

Mime farts are silent but deadly.

Dad said my federal tax refund should be in my account in a week or so. (UPDATE: I checked my credit union account. The refund will be deposited on Monday!)

I took a COVID test a half-hour ago and tested negative!

Today's weather didn't warm up enough to melt the snow on my walkway. I slid on a small patch of ice but thankfully didn't fall. Saturday is supposed to have a high of 50°, which should definitely melt it if the winds aren't too strong.

It looks like only two of my New Year's resolutions were accomplished this year:

1. Weight below 290
Even before Christmas, I wasn't even close to meeting this goal. I weighed 315 this morning.

2. Reduce debt by 10%
I actually increased my debt this year. My federal tax refund would have helped me meet this goal if I'd received it sooner. Instead, I applied for another loan which helped cover expenses, but gave me more to pay off.

3. New higher-paying job or self-employment
I can't seem to find anyone who can help me start my own radio station. The job counselors I work with are clueless about how difficult the broadcasting industry is for finding employment.

4. Furry Fiesta and DenFur (if COVID doesn't affect either)
I made it to both of these conventions and avoided catching COVID at them!

5. Christmas with friends or on my own
I also accomplished this goal.

I haven't thought of resolutions for next year. I may just recycle the first three and add others as I think of them.

I saw a Tweet from Ed B. Collie that a radio station in Wisconsin was stunting with all "Weird Al" Yankovic songs. I'm not sure how long the stunt will go on before a new format debuts, but it's nice to hear Weird Al's decades-long library in one place. The station is WKZG 104.3 FM near Green Bay, Wisconsin. It's fitting that the stunt began on the 27th since Weird Al refers to the number 27 in a lot of his songs.

UPDATE: The station announced the new format will start on January 3rd at 3 PM Central.

As I usually do, I gained weight over the Christmas weekend. The seat belt on my flight to Las Vegas fit me, but I needed to request an extender belt for the flight home. I gained 13 pounds, but I've already lost 5 of those.

I don't feel sick, but I will test myself for COVID-19 on Thursday or Friday to make sure I'm safe. I wore a mask while flying and in certain other public areas during my vacation.

Cha-CHING!

I had been dealing with a cold and COVID since Halloween, so I forgot to check my credit union account for my tax refund. The refund was deposited on October 26th. At least my account has some breathing room now.

I tested myself for COVID earlier today. My test came back negative!

My singles cruise group is holding a reunion in Pittsburgh next June. I wish I could stay after the reunion and attend Anthrocon, but there's a two-and-a-half-week gap between both events.

I just saw a third Whataburger location is being built here. This location will be even closer to me than the Dublin & Powers location.
jcollie719: (Hi JCollie)
My idea for a Christmas vacation won't be as cheap as I thought. I read the fine print when looking up the "complimentary room stay" offers on Pop Slots; the offers can only be used Sundays through Thursdays and don't include holidays. My initial plan was to stay on Friday and Saturday night then check out on Christmas on Sunday. While a free room wouldn't be possible in this case, I looked up the room rates for Christmas weekend and found a single king room at the MGM Grand would only be around $218 total for two nights. There are other hotels I found that are much cheaper, though they don't have discounts through Pop Slots.

The combination of isolating due to COVID and not wanting to go out due to depression has caused me to put off taking out my trash for a while. I bagged it up today to take out later.

I still have a slight throat tickle and cough, but the other COVID symptoms I had appear to be gone. I rescheduled some of my appointments for next week since I should be well enough to not be contagious.

My energy has just been zapped all week. I think my body is trying to catch up on the sleep I didn't get the week before. My sense of smell is back just a little bit.
jcollie719: (Weird Al Headbanger)
I talked online with a doctor about my COVID-19 diagnosis. I was given a 5-day prescription for Paxlovid, told to isolate until at least Tuesday, and wear a mask for another week.

I watched the movie "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" on the Roku Channel this weekend. It's really funny and definitely doesn't take itself seriously. It reminded me of the "E! True Hollywood Story" of Joan Rivers that was mostly made up and aired on April 1st.

I got it

The pharmacy that gave me my COVID test this week texted the results to me tonight. I tested positive for COVID. I was obviously hoping to get a negative result since I can still taste my food. I just figured the lack of a sense of smell was due to a cold. The cold symptoms are mostly gone, so I just feel icky from the COVID.
jcollie719: (Weird Al Headbanger)
Organizers of last weekend's FoxTrot meet announced someone at the party had tested positive for COVID-19. I don't feel like I have any COVID symptoms, but I scheduled a test for Friday afternoon at a nearby pharmacy. I hope the cold I have is only a cold.

I should probably get a COVID booster shot soon since it's been almost a year since my last shot.
jcollie719: (I Ruff You Heart)
I wanted to correct a statement I made last week that turned out to be inaccurate. Romeo Rabbit is only taking Saturday off this weekend for a vacation, but will do the Rabbit Hole on Sunday.

I just used a second at-home COVID test to make sure I didn't catch the virus at Furry Fiesta. I accidentally put more than three drops on the test strip this time. Hopefully that doesn't affect the accuracy. The test came back negative!
jcollie719: (I Ruff You Heart)
I used one of my at-home COVID-19 tests this morning. Several people tweeted that they tested positive for COVID after Furry Fiesta. Luckily, my test got a negative result. I'll do a second test in a day or two just to be safe.

I had gained about 6 pounds over Furry Fiesta weekend. Most of that has come off again as I get back to a diet that's not mostly fast food.
