Are you ready for the REAL dessert?
Aug. 8th, 2010 09:37 pmIt's the last night of RMFC. I'm confident I will be in better financial shape by the time next year's con rolls around. Next year's theme is "I/We Need A Hero." I thought of a cute name to put on a cape if I'm able to afford a collie fursuit by then.
GREAT
--Ice cream social. I limited myself to just one scoop of chocolate ice cream with syrup and whipped cream. A few of the people at my table were making everyone laugh.
--Free Can Cook. How is the audience at Free Can Cook like a gynecologist? They can smell it, but they can’t eat it! I had read about Freefox’s excellent cooking ability, but I didn’t know he was an apprentice at the Broadmoor. His cooking smelled damn good from the audience, though.
--Tonight's dance. Someone complimented me on my kigurumi and I got a hug from a fursuiter during the 35-40 minutes I was there.
--From the night before, a great room party. I actually talked with a few other furries there.
NOT SO GREAT
--While in the lobby at one point, I think I was seated next to Drama Central. Someone was going on and on about something that happened last night and saying he would report the hotel to the Better Business Bureau.
--The fact that I can't dance very well or that I feel uncomfortable dancing alone. When I see others dancing well, I always think of the Danny Glover line "I'm gettin' too old for this shit!"
I made a few notes about how I could improve myself for next year. The three main points were: attend more panels, LEARN TO DANCE and try to meet more local/Colorado furries in person rather than just over the Internet. I am hoping to find more fur meets that can fit my schedule. I think I spoke more at the room party (alcohol can do that) than during the rest of the con. Since my con badge had the name "Jerzei Collie" rather than my screen name (like I had at Furry Fiesta) I need to work on properly introducing myself to people whom I've friended online, saying something like "You probably know me online as jcollie719" or "We're mutual friends on LJ; my account name is lunchiesdogangl." Obviously the most important thing to do is find a new job as soon as possible so I can actually afford both the con and -- someday -- a fursuit.
