Immediately, immediately, immediate-L-Y
Aug. 5th, 2011 01:53 pmThe orientation for my new job went well, but it also ran longer than I thought it would. I was told the orientation would be around 2 hours, meaning I could go home, print out my Toastmasters speech and get to the meeting in plenty of time. Instead, the orientation was still going at 11:30. I told them I needed to go, so they asked me to come back Monday morning to pick up my work uniforms and shoes.
There wasn't enough time to go home and print out my speech. Thankfully I had most of it memorized. I just wrote down the inventions I planned to discuss, though I forgot the names of most of the inventors. The speech was 6 minutes 35 seconds (in a time range of 5-7 minutes.) I won the Best Speaker ribbon as well! Interestingly, I was very nervous yet one of the reviews I got said I was much more relaxed.
