Back to old-fashioned stove cooking for a while

I may need to get a new microwave soon.  The microwave started and immediately stopped when I tried to heat my dinner tonight.  I reset the timer for five minutes and tried again, but the microwave only ran for about a minute before stopping.  This is the second time in about three months the microwave has acted up.  I've had the microwave for seven years, while they have typical lifespans of nine years.  If I can't find a second job early next year, I could use my tax refund to buy a new microwave.
