Getting my car in traveling shape
Feb. 6th, 2018 01:50 pmMy Subaru is in the shop to get its head gasket replaced, along with a free "birthday" tune-up. It should be ready to pick up tomorrow afternoon. I had a dentist's appointment scheduled tomorrow, but I rescheduled that for later this month. I should still be able to make Wednesday night's Happy Hour meetup, even if I'm a bit late.
I bought enough frozen meals to last through next week. Either before or after the Happy Hour meetup, I'll pick up some edibles in Manitou.
Checking GasBuddy.com, I'm glad most of the cities where I plan to stop have regular gas for $2.20-2.40 per gallon (Raton, NM is the exception, where $2.59 is the lowest price listed.) I budgeted $70 each way for gas, which works out to two full tanks at $2.50. The money I'll save with both the lower prices and better highway gas mileage should be enough to pay for another tank.
