So-so morning
Jan. 6th, 2009 02:41 pmI volunteered to fill in for the morning announcer at KRCC today. I got a few complaint calls about a crappy signal from the translator antenna in Salida. One caller says the signal is receiving interference from another station, even though it's a good distance from our translator on the dial (93.7 vs. 95.7 FM.) When the mid-morning DJ came in, she told me the engineer wasn't able to get to the antenna because of all the snow on the hill. I don't mind living in a snowy climate (sometimes,) but the antenna trouble is one of the downsides of the climate, especially in the higher elevations like Salida and Buena Vista.
I know the listeners there are frustrated, but there's honestly nothing I can do except tell them "I'll let the engineer know about it."
