Be careful what you wish for
Sep. 20th, 2011 09:30 pmIn the words of Hank Kingsley, "Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!"
I received a letter today from Service Source saying my Fort Carson dining hall job will end this Friday due to a reduction of services in the dining facilities. I was originally told the job would start out as temporary, but I hoped I would be eventually hired permanently. I'll contact Vocational Rehab tomorrow morning to see if any other temporary jobs are available (or preferably permanent jobs that begin after Oklacon.) I may even call Luce Research to see about available shifts. (Yes, I'm that desperate!)
On the bright side, I don't need to find a substitute at KRCC this weekend, I won't have to miss any more Toastmasters meetings after this week (at least until I find another job) and I won't have to file a leave request for Oklacon. As Bucktown Tiger would say, I get to "spend my time like it's MY time" again, though I will still be struggling financially for a while.
