I still haven't found any southern Colorado colleges offering Bachelor's degrees in broadcasting. Another search turned up Metropolitan State College in Denver, which would be more convenient than driving to Boulder, Fort Collins or Greeley. I'm hoping the courses I took at PPCC can be applied toward the curriculum at Metro or whatever college I decide to attend and/or I can pass any tests which could allow me to skip some of the basic courses. Something even better would be to find a school in Colorado Springs or Pueblo with a BA broadcasting program.

Hopefully this time the training will better reflect the use of updated technology. The college stations where I trained more than 20 years ago still used 1960s/1970s electronics including turntables, reel-to-reel players and cart machines. The most advanced thing at KEPC in the early-'90s was a computer with RCS Selector (radio playlist program.) By that time, most commercial stations had computer-delivered music and commercials, eliminating the need for record/CD players and cart machines. Ironically, the old technology -- minus the record players -- was still in use at Business Talk Radio during the time I worked there (1999-2001.) They replaced the reel-to-reels with mini-disc player/recorders toward the end, though. I didn't get a chance to work with more advanced technology until I was hired at KRDO and later at KRCC.

I hope the classes I need won't interfere with my OA or Toastmasters meetings. I'm willing to give those up or go on hiatus if necessary.
