I decided not to suit for tonight's bowling meet. I'll save the suiting for DenFur in less than a month.

It's been a long time since I went bowling, and my scores certainly reflected that. My first game was 59, and my second was 110. Some of the bowlers on my lane left during the second game. Another bowler and I bowled in their places. I seemed to get most of my spares and strikes bowling for others rather than myself.

I should have enough time to get a haircut tomorrow before my 2:30 appointment to get a new passport. As with other pictures of me, I like to not have long, tangled hair.

I also have a meetup to attend tomorrow at 5:00. The organizer is taking a vacation for a few weeks, but I'm also in other groups that will still meet.

I signed up for Saturday's furry bowling meet. I'll probably just partial suit for this meet.

There's a furry bowling meet happening in Denver later this month. Hopefully I'll be able to go to that meet. It's been a long time since a bowling meet was held.

Once again, I am thankful that I went through my old mail.  I was a bit worried when I didn't see a bill from the toll road company in my mail since I used E-470 and the US-36 express lane earlier this month.  I found the bill Friday night and will send it off Saturday.

I wanted to go to a furry meetup at the Venetucci Farm this morning, but I still had some junk in my throat from the cold I caught last weekend. The next meetup will be November 6th at a Denver-area bowling alley.

My bowling scores this weekend were... non-existent. I was unable to view the official Facebook post about the furry bowling meet this time because it was set to private, and I wasn't given access to it for some reason. A post by someone else on the Colorado Furs FurAffinity page invited people to RSVP for the event, but it didn't mention the participants needed to pay in advance. (Everyone paid at the bowling alley during previous meets.) When I went to enter my name on the scoreboard, another fur mentioned the advance payment. I had a burger and a "Whiskey Orchard" drink, then just stuck around until around 12:20 AM.

Earlier on Sunday, I made a chocolate martini with coconut vodka, creme de cacao and coffee creamer.

This is the last weekend before KRCC switches to its new schedule on Monday. The station is switching to only having music from 7 PM-midnight, with news/NPR programming the rest of the day. When the station last changed its schedule, I got plenty of both good and bad calls about the changes. The latest change will eliminate some of the less-liked shows. "A Prairie Home Companion" will return on weekends, having been dropped after Garrison Keillor retired. Still, the elimination of the late-morning/early-afternoon music shows has already garnered lots of complaints. As much as I hate the reduced music content, I know KRCC has to do what it can to compete with the new Colorado Public Radio affiliate starting up in April.

I'll be doing some more furry bowling on Saturday night. My fursuit's maker is hosting the meet, so I'll ask if she can make adjustments to the suit body next week.

I forgot to pick up my medication refills today. I'll need to do that on Monday.

I did much better at furry bowling last night. My first game was mostly open frames, but the second and third games were much better. My scores were 88, 138 and 128. The listed host for the meet didn't show, but another furry got everyone set up.

My voice is a little rough this morning due to the last little bit of congestion in my throat and only getting about three hours of sleep after the bowling meet. I have some cough drops and green tea handy. The congestion will hopefully go away tonight since it's no longer getting worse while I sleep.

According to the other guests at the Thanksgiving dinner, the "Yum Yum Corn" dish I made lived up to its name. I mixed the corn with cream cheese and butter, with a bit of garlic, sugar and parsley.

There wasn't a Toastmasters meeting Friday, so I went bowling with members of my singles group. I didn't do as well this time partially due to my right ankle hurting. My scores were 98, 98 and 92.

One of my Christmas list items will be a floor lamp. One section of my living room barely gets any light at night. I've used my small Christmas tree to light that area year-round, but the top half of the tree's lights stopped working a month or two ago.

The library where my Toastmasters meetings are held accidentally double-booked our usual meeting room today. After speaking to a few library staff members, our meeting moved downstairs to a smaller conference room. There won't be a meeting next Friday due to Thanksgiving. My local singles group is having a bowling meetup next Friday.

I sent in an RSVP for the Bovine Metropolis Theater's pre-Thanksgiving party. I'll bring a couple of appetizers (or a main dish and appetizer) since this party usually has too few of those, and an overabundance of desserts.

My savings and checking accounts will be dry until Monday. I wanted to have a bit more cash on me for last night's bowling meet, so I took my change jar to a King Soopers location with a Coinstar machine. After the transaction fee was subtracted, I got $27.95.

The bowling meet was the first time I wore my fursuit head and tail outside my home. My fursuit's maker was also at the meet and arranged to come by my home Wednesday to make adjustments to my suit. It took a few frames for me to get used to bowling with a fursuit head. My scores were 82 and 104. My vision was slightly blurry since I couldn't wear my glasses under the head. I'm thinking of getting some prescription goggles to wear over the mask. I just had water during the meet to keep from overheating; I had wanted to order a drink or two, but I was usually bowling when the server came around. I didn't need to order food since I had a large dinner beforehand. The meet raised $366 for Nakio's Underdog Rescue.

I got about four hours of sleep after getting home. Before I take a nap later today, I'll put an ice pack on my right ankle since it's been hurting for the past week.

I tried on the body of my new fursuit tonight. I'm glad the maker said she could adjust the crotch if needed, because it's definitely needed. The suit's legs wound up still being baggy while the upper body was an inch or two short. Lowering the crotch a few inches should solve that problem. I tried on the hands and feet, and those fit just fine.

I was looking forward to wearing the suit to the bowling meet this coming Saturday. I suppose I could still wear the head and tail, or just wear my kigurumi. I'm not sure if there are any other fursuiting events I'm able to attend between the bowling meet and FoxTrot in December.

The furry bowling meet in Denver was held at the same alley (Celebrity Lanes in Centennial,) but it was in a more private "party room" with four lanes this time. Some furries brought cakes and cupcakes to celebrate a couple of birthdays. For dinner, I ordered a barbecue bacon cheeseburger and two "Whiskey Orchards" (Crown Royal, Peach Schnapps, Angry Orchard cider and Grenadine.) The lane I was on had a faulty scorekeeping system. The bowlers would sometimes be credited with more pins than they actually knocked down, or given strikes when they only knocked down 7-9 pins. My scores were 156 for a complete game, and 121 for a seven-frame game. The group's photo shoot interrupted the bowling, and most of the bowlers opted to leave after the shoot. Even though my score was partially "enhanced" by faulty equipment, I got a Guardians of the Galaxy mug with a dancing Groot figure as a prize for the highest score.

The next bowling meet I will attend is on October 29th in Colorado Springs. I'll have a little something special for that meet.

I'm at work at KRCC at the moment. I didn't get much sleep last night due to the meet, so I'll sleep for a few hours once I get home. I should be awake for at least part of The Rabbit Hole and Doggy Radio.

KRCC's membership drive ended at noon today. I felt good for most of today, though my mood took a huge dip in the last hour of the drive. About 20 minutes before the drive ended, the general manager decided to change plans for the on-air pitching. I was able to handle the changes, though I was a bundle of nerves. I wish the manager would think of these things in advance and plan accordingly (e.g. using "pledge-friendly" show episodes with shorter segments and more breaks.) Thankfully, my mood was boosted an hour or two later by a (drunk/high?) caller who had an idea about a different type of anti-drunk-driving PSA. I also got to take a late caller's pledge.

I'll be heading to the Denver area in a little bit for tonight's bowling meet. At least I can relax there and work off the little bit of frustration I have left.

Now I (sort of) have one of the TV "diginets" I've wanted to receive. Yesterday, I upgraded my cable service to the next tier. I mainly did this to receive some of the news networks like BBC World News, and also the additional entertainment channels. One of the channels, Blue Highways TV, carries the diginet Laff's programming during a large part of its schedule. This channel carries mostly 1980s-2000s sitcoms like Ellen, Night Court, Grace Under Fire and The Drew Carey Show.

I answered phones at KRCC from 6-9 AM and 3-4:30 PM. The phones were really busy most of the morning since there were a couple of "matching funds" challenges.

I'll be going to a furry bowling meet in Denver Saturday night, and another one in Colorado Springs near the end of the month.

The monthly furry bowling meet in Denver is tonight. The CDOT website doesn't list any closures for I-25 tonight, so I shouldn't be caught in any traffic jams this time. Before the bowling meet, I'm going to a dinner at a Japanese restaurant with one of my singles groups.

UPDATE (8:35 PM): I can't believe I ate the whole thing! Actually, I ate half of my Japanese dinner and brought the rest home. The singles group was in the grill section where the chefs prepare the food in front of the customers. I ordered the garlic butter steak with white rice, vegetables and noodles, then had green tea ice cream for dessert. It started raining around 4:30, with a little bit of hail/graupel in my neighborhood. According to the weather radar, the storms are moving south, meaning my drive to Denver in a bit should be fairly dry.

38 days until my cruise!

I went to Sprocket and Grizdog's furry bowling meet Saturday night. Since I didn't arrange to be on a team ahead of time, the organizers picked a lane which needed one or two more players. Three of the others on my lane turned out to be members of the Furry Raiders. Contrary to the drama surrounding the group, they were very friendly to me, though some other furries complained about them being loud and obnoxious.

If this bowling meet continues to grow, I hope the organizers will spread out the furries a bit more. I know cost is a factor, but I'd love to have either three hours of bowling or more lanes reserved next time so only three or four bowlers will be on a lane. With five people per lane, some of the lanes couldn't complete two full games within two hours; my lane ended the second game in the 9th frame. My scores were 91 for the first game and 100 for the incomplete second game.

One of the local singles meetups went bowling Sunday afternoon. The meet was originally for miniature golf, but this weekend's snowstorm canceled that. During the two games, I experimented with 14, 15 and 16-pound balls. Once I worked on not hooking the ball to the left, I got the best results with the 14-pound ball. My scores were 89 and 140. The group went to Old Chicago afterward. I got the beer bratwurst mac and cheese.

I'll be going to two furry bowling meets later this month. The south Denver meet is next Friday, then the Colorado Springs meet is the following Saturday.
jcollie719: (Jcollie719)
I actually did well during the bowling meet Friday. For the most part, I managed to avoid hooking the ball to the left. I think using a slightly-heavier ball (14-15 pounds?) helped keep my arm from going wild. My scores were 111, 126 and 133. One of the Denver furs I know who regularly goes to FoxTrot showed up, though he didn't bowl. It took just under an hour to drive to the bowling alley since it is in Greenwood Village, on the south end of the Denver area. Driving home took longer this time since a heavy snow storm started while I was bowling.

I thought the recently-enacted "no food in the studio" rule at work only applied to the production studio. A co-worker on Saturday let me know it also applied to the main studio.

I got a long-overdue haircut on Thursday.

There was very light rain falling when I drove home from my parents' house tonight. I heard there are a few road closures in the mountains due to snow. More snow is expected in Colorado Springs between tonight and Monday or Tuesday. Later tonight, I'm headed to Denver for a furry bowling meet.
jcollie719: (Jcollie license)

Snow began falling again on Monday. The roads were just a little wet when I drove to a meeting tonight, then snow-packed (but not icy) on the drive home. A couple of errands I need to run will have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday when it will be sunny again.

I attended a furry bowling meet a week ago. This time, the meet was at the Summit Lanes on the north end of the city. I was much more relaxed this time. Unlike the last bowling meets, the games didn't use "9-pin strike" rules. My scores were 118 and 97.
