Seeing more furries and fewer pounds!
Mar. 12th, 2011 12:08 amMy finances have taken a bit of a nosedive, but I hope they'll recover in the coming week. When I put my federal income tax refund into my account, I had arranged to put about $450 toward a credit card payment the day before I left for Furry Fiesta. Unfortunately, the payment took an extra day to post, meaning I had to pay for the hotel stay with a check. Both the check and credit card payment wiped out most of the refund. Thankfully, I used the credit card to pay a couple of bills to avoid an overdraft. I also deposited my state tax refund earlier this week. My next paycheck will be deposited next Tuesday.
On the bright side, a fur meet in Aurora (just east of Denver) moved to Thursday nights last week. I finally found a meet on a non-busy night within reasonable driving distance. I recognized one of the attendees from the Howl-O-Ween party last year.
I need to work on giving evaluations at Toastmasters. I was assigned the evaluator role in both of the last two meetings. I basically have to listen to a person's speech, then give a summary a few minutes later of the speech's good and bad points. The evaluation has to be 2-3 minutes (although it can technically be 1:30-3:30.) The evaluations I gave this month were 2:17 and 1:34.
The AuroraFurs meet is held at a Village Inn restaurant. I went way over last Thursday (2,850 calories) mainly due to a high-calorie lunch earlier. This Thursday wasn't as bad with 2,384. I couldn't find any calorie information about Village Inn's food on their Web site nor on MyFitnessPal.com. The LiveStrong site has info about some dishes. At least if I want to treat myself with a piece of pie, I now know a slice of coconut cream pie has over 200 fewer calories than French silk pie. I had gained four pounds over the Furry Fiesta weekend (276-280.) I quickly lost that and am down to 272 now.
