Apparently my laptop is on vacation, too. I plugged it in at the hotel in Tampa to recharge it, but it would not recharge. Since the laptop itself was working (briefly) I guess the power cord got damaged during the flight.
I got a message to call a woman when I checked into the hotel. I thought she may have been a staff member from the singles cruise company, but she was actually a lady from Wales who was cruising with the company for the first time (She had gone on a previous cruise with a different company.) She just wanted to know more about how the company and cruise operated. There are quite a few people from different countries on this cruise, including the UK, Iceland and Japan.
The cruisers who arrived on Friday had dinner at Ricks On The River. The shuttle driver had a Mapquest map and directions in his hand as he was driving, yet he still managed to miss the turns he needed to make. The journey to Stump's Supper Club the following night went much more smoothly. After dinner, several cruisers and I went around the corner to the Howl At The Moon club. It featured a funny piano-playing duo which interacted well with the audience. I wanted to stay later, but after standing for several hours I wound up catching the shuttle back to the hotel around 12:45. Let's just say the spirit was willing, but the feet were pooped.
I dropped by the drugstore Saturday to buy a comb, toothbrush, razors and Dove dark chocolates for the trip.
I overdid it the first night of the cruise. I had finished a rum and coke and had ordered a second one during the group's first party. The waiter who took my order kept saying (paraphrasing) "it's coming, and in the meantime, here's a beer." I like beer, but I'm not too crazy about the side effects. I may not know much about women, but I know they don't exactly like men who burp every three seconds.
Well, it's currently day two of the cruise. I've had breakfast with some of the cruisers, including the lady from Wales. Later today is the speed meeting, and tonight is formal night and the captain's cocktail party. I plan to take it easy (well, easier) tonight so I can make the midnight comedy show.
