"Kiss my grits!"
Oct. 28th, 2008 07:23 pmWhile registering yesterday for the Senor Frogs party in Grand Cayman, I was greeted by a visitor from my past.
It was my roommate from my first cruise in January 2006. He wasn't wearing his bead necklace, so I didn't originally know if he was part of the singles group or just on the same ship. He was at tonight's karaoke event, though, so he's part of the singles group.
Monday night was formal night. Unlike last year, people noticed and complimented me on my tuxedo. The pants were too long and I had no safety pins. Other than that, the tux fit (although it was filled to capacity.) I spent dinner on Monday with a couple of guys who had signed up for the singles group just days earlier. One of them was wasted and behaving like your typical loud drunk. I ended the night watching Thomas Brown at the midnight comedy show.
It was raining today in Grand Cayman. As soon as the singles group got off the boat, the rain shifted into overdrive, like it was "sock it to me" time and we were all Judy Carne. The ship couldn't anchor off the docks due to the choppy water, so we ended up further east at Spots Bay. The rain calmed down a bit as we got into town and drove to the Turtle Farm. I've got a picture of me holding a turtle which I'll post when I get home (due to my laptop being out of commission.) The group also visited the Tortuga Rum and Cake shop and the coral formations known as Hell. Most of us decided to skip Senor Frogs because of the weather and the different location of the ship.
I decided ahead of time I would not let anything, including the weather and anyone on or off the ship, ruin my vacation since I may not be able to take another one for a while. My '06 roommate started pressuring me at the karaoke party to get up on stage. I moved to the front of the room just to get away from him. Missing the Senor Frogs visit was disappointing, but tomorrow the weather in Cozumel is supposed to be much better. I've signed up for the Carlos 'n Charlies beach party.
