Meatless Monday and Car of the Future
Jul. 4th, 2011 10:19 pmEven though I didn't plan this, I ended up not having any meat today. I try to have at least one vegetarian meal per day to help with my diet. I ended up having cheese ravioli for breakfast, veggie corn dogs for lunch and veggie burgers for dinner, with sea salt chips for snacks.
I'll try to get to bed earlier tonight. I couldn't sleep last night, so I got up and fooled around on the laptop for a bit, then fell asleep from about 6:30-11 AM. I'd like at least three nights in a row where I can relax and not worry/panic about everything. I also want to wake up just before 8 AM so I can catch an online talk show I enjoy.
Vocational Rehab wasn't open today due to Independence Day. I need to contact my new counselor and meet with her about the jobs I'm seeking.
I won't need a new car for another five years or so, but I've been looking up the gas mileage of this year's cars. I'd like my next car to be a station wagon or a small SUV so I can drive to more places instead of flying or taking the bus/train. My former and current Subarus are great cars, but my current one (a 2005 Impreza) only gets about 22 MPG. This year's Outback and Forester models aren't much better (23 and 24 MPG, respectively.) I saw a couple of diesel models which get at least 30 MPG, along with the Honda Fit and Pontiac Vibe. The Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen would cost about $7,000 more than the Outback/Forester, but the annual savings in gas purchases would make up for that over 10 years.
