Oklacon 2012 planning list
Nov. 1st, 2011 12:10 amI'm still waiting for a new job so I can actually afford this. I wanted to make a few notes so I don't forget them by next October. Most of these suggestions apply only if I get a lodge room again next year.
--Buy a small plastic cooler for the car to hold sandwiches and other breakfast/lunch/barbecue items.
--Pack instant meals like Ramen noodles, oatmeal, beans and rice, etc. which can use water heated via the in-room coffee maker.
--For the refrigerated food items, buy them (and a bag of ice) in Woodward, Seiling or another nearby town en route to the park.
--Bring an Ethernet cord to use the in-room Internet. (Just don't spend your whole vacation online!)
--Print detailed street maps of Watonga and other towns where stops are planned, including addresses of grocery/convenience stores and gas stations.
--Remember to include bar drinks in your budget!
--Bring travel alarm clock.
Things to remember about Oklacon:
--The concession stamps are worth 50 cents each, with most items (soda, snacks, barbecue items) costing 1 or 2 stamps.
--Little or no cell phone coverage. Give friends/family/co-workers the lodge phone number and room number if the call is urgent.
