vrghr was excellent. The dinner included shrimp for the appetizer, pork roast with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, dumplings and black-eyed peas. We rounded out the evening watching various movies and animated specials. Vargr even gave me a few days worth of leftovers to take home. Many thanks for being a wonderful cook and host!
For New Year's Eve, I went up to Aurora for the "Danewood" party. I went to the wrong address at first, but I called the party and got the right address. The house contained a few Great Danes and one or two smaller dogs, hence the "Danewood" name. One of the Danes and a smaller dog had cuddled up next to me on the sofa for a while. I made the mistake of drinking on a nearly-empty stomach (only having a couple slices of pizza) so I became buzzed after only two drinks. I drank only water after midnight and felt clear-headed again around 1 AM. I stayed until 3:20 just to make sure I was completely sober.
My old job counselor e-mailed me to say she would resume working with me instead of the new counselor, who never returned my calls. She asked me to come to a job fair tomorrow for Service Source. She obviously forgot I already worked for this company for a month or so in 2011, had a horrible time with them and was laid off due to cutbacks at the Army dining hall where I worked. Much of the work also gave me back pain, so I always had to bring pain relievers along with my regular medication.

Might be a "smoke-out special" on the smoker and grill, or perhaps a reason to "break in" the new deep fryer Christmas prezzie. Or just a big plate of nibblies and nosh's for super bowl. Who can say?
Anyway, thanks very much for dropping by - food always seems to taste better when shared with friends.
