Making lemonade from a lemon HDTV receiver

Well, the Voom satellite/HDTV receiver turned out to be a dud. It was brand new, so it wasn't activated, and the people who could activate it are no longer in business. I've been able to sell the remote to someone who has a working receiver. I've paid a bit more for a reliable receiver, but it's nice to know I'm getting what I paid for.
