I'm back from having a wonderful time at DenFur!

Last Wednesday, I saw Kathy Griffin perform at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in downtown Denver. I originally planned to drive to Denver several hours before the show to do DoorDash deliveries. I got up to Castle Rock and realized I forgot to bring my ticket for the show. I was still able to drive back home, get the ticket and drive back to Denver before the show started.

I did a last-minute load of laundry Thursday morning before packing up for DenFur. Usually I begin packing a few days before a vacation to make sure I have everything. I arrived at the hotel around 1 PM and met Victor Redtail, my roommate. Victor and I drove to Broncos Field at Mile High so he could have pictures taken in his hawk fursuit holding a Kansas City Chiefs banner. We later went to JoAnne's fabrics so Victor could pick up a few items he needed. Thursday night, we saw the movie "The Happytime Murders."

I initially requested a mini-fridge for the room, but the hotel didn't have any available. Luckily, Victor brought his own fridge. Unlike my room at the same hotel at RMFC 2016, this room didn't have a microwave.

After opening ceremonies on Friday, I went to a nearby Circle K to do an ATM withdrawal and buy lunch and water. That night, Victor and I went to a Rockies vs. Cardinals baseball game at Coors Field. The Rockies lost 7-5.

Everyone at the hotel got an early wake-up call on Saturday when the fire alarm went off. One of the hotel staff members had accidentally set it off. I suited in the fursuit parade and was actually in the front row for the fursuit photo. I got lunch at Subway, then Victor and I picked up a pizza for dinner. The Guest of Honor cocktail hour happened that night.

After breakfast on Sunday, I did a few DoorDash deliveries in Aurora since there was a $2.50 pay boost for deliveries between 11 AM and 1 PM. At closing ceremonies, the con staff announced 2,086 people attended this year and raised $15,000 for Freedom Service Dogs. I got dinner at Burger King afterward, then managed to find a good parking space when I returned. I ended the night at the hotel bar with several other furries.

Victor brought his fridge and all his luggage down to his vehicle around 9 AM today. I showered and checked out of the hotel around 9:30.

 Happy Birthday, Mom! <3

I spent the afternoon making DoorDash deliveries in the Denver and Castle Rock areas. These areas sometimes have pay boosts which aren't currently available in Colorado Springs. I made a couple of local UberEats deliveries tonight as well. During the second delivery to an apartment complex, I saw one apartment had the movie Bolt playing on a big screen TV. I remembered watching the movie for the first time years ago. Susie Essman was the voice of Mittens the cat. Since Susie Essman is also known for playing Susie Greene on Curb Your Enthusiasm, I kept imagining Mittens calling Bolt a fat fuck.

Spotsu!

I bought the "Isle of Dogs" DVD/BluRay pack last week; it arrived today. I don't have a BluRay player yet, even though I own at least one other DVD/BluRay disc combo. Obviously a new player will have to wait at least a year. Ricochet from Doggy Radio discussed the video release and remarked about the poor quality of the DVD version compared to the BluRay.

I saw the film "Isle of Dogs" this afternoon. This is actually the first time I've bought a reserved seat in advance for a movie. I've been in a few theaters with expanded food options, including the Dallas-area theater where I saw "Zootopia" in 2016. This is an excellent movie!

The Psychedelegates were playing tonight at Jack Quinn's Pub. I couldn't find a parking space after driving around for 15 minutes. Instead, I did some food shopping at Safeway then drove home.

I have a dentist's appointment this morning to fill a couple of cavities. I missed my dad's e-mail saying he would go grocery shopping on Wednesday, so I'll pick up some frozen dinners and other foods after the dentist. The monthly Drinking Liberally meetup is tonight.

I might see the movie "Isle of Dogs" on Friday. I rarely see movies in theaters anymore.

My cold seems to clear up during the day, then get worse when I sleep. I put on more clothes to sleep and an extra comforter on the bed, and have also been taking Vitamin C and DayQuil. I still have a bag of throat lozenges in my briefcase in case I need them at work this weekend. I need to get more Kleenex tomorrow since I'm down to my last box tonight.

At dinner, my dad told me he had rented the movie "Sausage Party," not knowing it was rated R and had plenty of cursing.

My reaction during and after the Funday Pawpet Show "reviewed" the new Fursonas documentary:

I liked the documentary myself. As the FPS cast stated, I don't agree with the director's recording at AC without permission. However, the presentation was more balanced than some of the media portrayals of the fandom. Some of the FPS cast members said they didn't watch Fursonas or intend to, but they seemed to jump on the bandwagon of hating anything not showing Saint Kage as perfect. I got tired of all the salt being thrown on FPS and in the chat room, so I'm chilling listening to JaSonic's stream until RadioLawn begins.

Having a great time at Furry Fiesta! Here's a brief recap:

FRIDAY
I had an apple and cereal for breakfast, then went grocery shopping for soda, water and my "brunch" (chicken salad croissant.) Fox Amoore and Alexander James Adams played for a bit prior to opening ceremonies. I took a nap around 3 PM. Matthew Ebel's concert happened at 6:00, then Ebel held an after-party in his room. Everyone at the party went down to watch the Bandthro rehearsal, followed by the "Foxes and Peppers" concert.

SATURDAY
TFF's Super Sponsor lunch was at the Studio Movie Grill in Plano, where the group got to see the movie Zootopia. I ordered the Asian salad with chicken for my lunch. The movie definitely lived up to all of the positive reviews I've seen. I fell asleep around dinnertime and missed the evening panels I wanted to attend. Thankfully, Sunday's schedule is fairly barren before noon, so I shouldn't need a nap.

I forgot to pack two items: a belt and envelopes for leaving housekeeping tips.

Twenty-something days until Furry Fiesta! (It's late, sorry.)  EDIT: 25.

I got an e-mail from the Furry Fiesta staff saying this year's Super Sponsor lunch will be at a theater showing the new movie Zootopia. There are furry meetups scheduled in Colorado Springs and Denver on the opening weekend, but those are on Saturday when I work.

PAY for Sunday, February 14th: 10 hours (5-9 AM and 1-7 PM.)

(4:58 PM) I was originally supposed to fill in until 5 PM, but the employee called and asked me if I could stay until 7.

My co-worker's band is playing a couple of gigs Friday: The 4/20 Freedom Fest in America the Beautiful Park and later that night at the Zodiac nightclub. The Freedom Fest starts at 1 PM when my Toastmasters meeting ends, and my co-worker said his band is up first, so I'll likely miss that performance.

Another event I'll miss is a local fur meet on Saturday. I'm headed down to Pueblo after work that night for an Earth Day concert featuring Pato Banton.

I saw a talent agent this afternoon about casting for a 1950s-era movie. I don't have any head shots, other than a photo taken nine years ago. I can't use that one publicly since the copyright went back to the photographer in 2004.

My laptop is lagging again since I rebooted it yesterday morning. I need either a new laptop or a new RAM stick for this one.

I really wish my voice was stronger and had more range. Whenever I don't get enough sleep before my KRCC shifts (which is the case on most Sundays,) my voice sometimes becomes hoarse and/or slurred. If I can eventually afford new health insurance, I don't know if it would cover speech therapy.

I know this is late for the Fourth Of July, but...

My dad rented the movie "Imagine That" from the library. This was the movie in which I was a paid background extra (Its working title at the time was "Nowhereland.") I was a pedestrian in some scenes and a driver in others. I was hoping at least one scene where I could recognize myself would make it into the final picture, but it didn't happen.

0:08:38 Red car in background might be mine?
1:34:03 Not seen, but I was in the enclosed wooden construction sidewalk in this scene.

My voice is a little better. I'd say it's around 30% recovered. I'll see a doctor if my cold/cough hasn't gotten better by Wednesday.

I went on another blind date Saturday night. It went well, but I felt that way about my past dates as well (They wound up going nowhere.) I'll call her Monday morning or afternoon to see if she wants to go out again.

While looking up the premiere date for "NowhereLand" (the Eddie Murphy movie in which I was one of the extras) I discovered the movie's title has been changed to "Imagine That." It's supposed to debut on June 12. Depending on what scenes are kept for the movie, I will either be one of the pedestrians or background drivers, most likely a quick blur on the screen.

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 of these films, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook or LJ account, paste this as a note [or update]. Then, put Xs next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.

The list... )

Metro isn't offering any online work-from-home positions. However, the company will pay for a month or two of COBRA insurance. Beyond that, I have to pay for it myself. I'll be calling and sending resumes to the various stations which currently use Metro's news and traffic to see if they have any openings.

I'm currently dubbing two movies from my DirecTV DVR to my DVR/DVD recorder: the "Strangers With Candy" movie and "Gym Teacher: The Movie," both of which star Amy Sedaris. I loved her in the "Strangers With Candy" TV show and her talk show appearances, along with her and her brother David's books. There's actually a local TV news anchor I refer to as "Jerri Blank" because her hairstyle and teeth remind me of Jerri (without the braces and heavy makeup, of course.)
