I talked online with a doctor about my COVID-19 diagnosis. I was given a 5-day prescription for Paxlovid, told to isolate until at least Tuesday, and wear a mask for another week.

I watched the movie "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" on the Roku Channel this weekend. It's really funny and definitely doesn't take itself seriously. It reminded me of the "E! True Hollywood Story" of Joan Rivers that was mostly made up and aired on April 1st.

This weekend, I found an opening for a part-time announcer at Westwood One in Denver. I previously worked for this company as a Colorado Springs news writer with Metro Networks. Even though this job likely wouldn't pay enough for me to live on by itself, I should be able to continue making food deliveries during my free time to supplement it.

I'm glad the IRC chatter had a reference picture from "The Bad Guys" that was easier for me to draw. I tried to do a freehand drawing of Diane Foxington using a clip from the movie. She looked more like a donkey when I finished.

It looks like I might have to "dust off the asterisk" next Sunday. Romeo may be taking more time off from the Rabbit Hole to recover.

Photobucket wouldn't let me embed this video, so I uploaded it to my Google Drive. It's a mashup of video from "The Bad Guys" and audio from a similar scene in "The Naked Gun."

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P6FbhQJVrDmdPhE264DVCtGjeT31rDb8/view?usp=sharing

I was reminded of the Naked Gun scene after hearing Governor Diane Foxington say "Assault with a deadly reptile."

I needed to pick up a few art supplies late last night. I had about 90 minutes between that task and seeing "The Bad Guys," so I had dinner at a bar next door to the theater. I got some pumpkin risotto and two lemon drop martinis, then a Mexican chocolate martini for dessert.

The previews had two animated movies which look interesting. "The D.C. League of Superpets" is about the pets belonging to the D.C. superheroes. Another movie called "Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank" is basically a samurai dog movie with the voices of Michael Cera, George Takei and Samuel L. Jackson. Both movies come out in July.

I was the only person in the theater for "The Bad Guys" (It was a 10 PM showing.) I liked the spoofing of heist movies, as well as the storylines involving bad guys being good and vice versa. Not to spoil too much, but it's also bookended by a pair of fart jokes. I definitely recommend this movie.

I reserved a ticket to see the movie "The Bad Guys" Tuesday night. The IRC chatter who asks me to draw for him asked if I could draw Diane the fox from the movie next week. I'm not sure if he wants Diane drawn in her business clothes or evening dress.

During BigBlueFox's Saturday music stream, BBF played the song "Critical" by Ellis Moss. I can't find the lyrics anywhere, but part of them sounds like he's singing "J. Collie!"

I was buying a new container of Coffee Mate creamer at a 7Eleven on Saturday when the cashier commented about my eyebrows, calling them "American Pie" eyebrows. For some reason, my eyebrows want to grow upward instead of to the sides. I occasionally use hair gel to point the hair in the right direction.

I need to buy more AA batteries today. I usually change the batteries in my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on April 15th and October 15th, but I only have one AA battery left.

My April 17th fill-in show for the Rabbit Hole went very well. Other than my laptop occasionally freezing when I loaded songs into Mixxx, I didn't notice any audio problems.

I downloaded the mono version of CCR's "Suzie Q" today since I didn't like how the stereo version sounded last weekend. I mainly played the song to go with the other songs and bits about Twinkies and junk food.

I had a nice time at Saturday's cheese-smoking meet. I now have a half-pound block of smoked gruyere in my fridge. According to the host, it won't be ready to eat until next Saturday. The host made a hot cheese dip using cheeses he had previously smoked, which was great. The group watched "Zootopia" and a few other movies.

I had Sunday brunch with my local singles group. It was at a restaurant and coffee shop south of downtown called Urban Steam. I had the "Sierra Madre Azul" breakfast: two eggs (I had them scrambled,) carnitas pork, black bean salsa, and pepper jack and cheddar cheeses on a blue cornmeal waffle. (Make sure to include "cornmeal" if you Google that last term!)

I got an e-mail from the local classical radio station yesterday. The weekend position I applied for was filled by someone else. I'm thankful that I got a response since most companies never call or write back when people apply and are rejected.

"Hit pay dirt with K-Dirt!"

I saw there is a low-power FM station called KDRT in Davis, California (west of Sacramento.) That call sign was also used for the fictional "K-Dirt" in the movie "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane."

In place of some of the Jackbox games, Steelwoulfe played "What the Dub?!" Saturday night. The players have to type a line of dialogue to replace one line in an old movie clip. This was fun and a nice change of pace from the other games.

My singles group held a Mardi Gras meetup yesterday at Springs Orleans downtown. I had two "Hurricane" drinks, a cup of gumbo and étouffée fries (AY-too-FAY,) which is sort of like Cajun poutine.

I ran out of baking soda, so I picked that up along with some soups and a few other groceries before the meetup. The soups are perfect since it's been snowing this week.

Cinder Collie's stream today is about certain heart conditions. The discussion about defibrillators reminded me of the "muscle stimulator" bit from the first Jackass movie.

I ordered a coffee mug with a picture of one of the "Awoo" comics. The mug says "Don't awoo until I've had my coffee."

Tonight, I'll be chopping up the sweet potatoes to prepare them for tomorrow's casserole. I'll only make a quarter of the recipe since the full recipe makes 12-14 servings. I have a package of stuffing which can be cooked in the microwave, and some premade mashed potatoes, to which I'll add some garlic and mascarpone cheese. Everything else just needs to be heated before dinnertime.

On YouTube, I found a couple of cheesy comedy movies from the late-'80s/early-'90s that I watched as a kid. "Glitch!" is about a pair of thieves who break into a movie producer's home, are mistaken for the producer and director, and end up casting a sex film. The other film, "Zoo Radio," is about a pair of brothers who compete for their father's inheritance using their competing radio stations. Coincidentally, both films feature a title song with the same melody but different lyrics.

My singles group held a meetup this afternoon at a Mexican restaurant. Fuzzy's Taco Shop has some nice frozen margaritas, which are perfect for summer!

My Blu-Ray copy of "The Fandom" arrived today! I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet, but I'm planning to get one later this year.
jcollie719: (American flag)
I watched the premiere of "The Fandom" on YouTube yesterday... It's at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iv0QaTW3kEY

This is a very well-made documentary about the origins of the furry fandom. It was interesting hearing about furry conventions being spun off from sci-fi cons, how two of the originators of furry cons were an LGBT couple dealing with a largely-straight (at the time) fandom, and how the person considered the first fursuiter was a person of color. The documentary also briefly touched on some of the bad parts (the Burned Furs, the Furry Raiders, *that* CSI episode, etc.) without glamorizing them. Overall, "The Fandom" is an organized, thorough look at furries from yesterday and today.

I appear for a few seconds about 62 minutes in during the DenFur photoshoot. As I've joked many times, I was better lit in that 3-second shot than I was in the actual fursuit photo.

This afternoon, I'll be doing some DoorDash deliveries since there's a $3 boost from around 11 AM to 4:30 PM.

I missed another KRCC online meeting because the link I have must be outdated. I called the operations manager to let him know. He will ask the meeting organizer to e-mail me the correct link.

I found Mtn Dew Baja Blast in a store! I picked up a few bottles of the Zero Sugar version at a Family Dollar store. I saw a recipe for making a copycat version, but I'd like to have at least one bottle of the real thing to compare the taste.

I contacted my Drinking Liberally group with the suggestion of using Google Hangouts for an online meeting. The group will test that out tonight.

My DVD of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie arrived today, along with a couple CDs of 1960s music.
jcollie719: (Tiger Jump)
I slept in longer than I expected today. Anxiety caused partially by bad dreams and current events made my sleep very erratic.

I ordered the Sonic the Hedgehog movie on DVD.

One of the videos I watched on my new VR headset was a 360-degree video promo for Isle of Dogs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqXC46b1uUg

When looking at the "back" of the video, I could see the crew members and equipment. That action was very choppy since this is a stop-motion animated video. About 3.5 minutes into the video, "King" the dog walked to the front of the video. I actually leaned my head back a bit because it felt like we were nose-to-nose!
jcollie719: (Tiger Jump)
The Sonic movie was awesome! I liked how the movie flowed between action, comedy and drama (plus a bit of romance) without overdoing any of it.

What happened after the movie wasn't very awesome.

The phone repair shop told me my phone had a "PMIC" issue (Power management integrated circuit,) which happens when excess heat causes the chip to become unsoldered. The repair shop said fixing it would only be a temporary fix and recommended the cheaper option of buying a new phone. My phone is only about a year and a half old, but it's gotten pretty banged up in that short period of time. I just ordered a new phone and upgraded to an unlimited data plan for just $5 more than my old 6GB/month plan.

I got a letter in the mail saying my health insurance was cancelled at the end of 2019 for non-payment. My bank account records show I've made my payments for that year, and the payments for January and February of this year were refunded to my account. I was shuffled back and forth between the Colorado health exchange and Kaiser Permanente until Kaiser's offices closed at 6 PM. I'll have to call them again tomorrow morning.
jcollie719: (Lipton Lolly)
My cell phone has been acting weird lately. It used to charge no matter which charger I used (including my portable charger and the USB outlet in my car.) Now it only charges with its original charger. The phone either freezes and restarts or I get a "moisture detected" message when I try to charge using the other chargers. I made an appointment after the Sonic movie ends at a store in the same shopping center. I'll be seeing the movie in less than an hour!
jcollie719: (License JCollie719)
I will be seeing the Sonic the Hedgehog movie Wednesday afternoon. For Christmas, one of my gifts was a card for a free movie ticket, so I used that to reserve a seat at the Cinemark about a mile east of my home.

I'm hoping there isn't any rain or snow in the forecast during the week of my trip to and from Dallas for Furry Fiesta. I want to drive some of the old roads I skipped last year, but I'm worried that some dirt roads and sites like the Cadillac Ranch might be too muddy. Last March, 8 of the 10 Cadillacs were in a large puddle, while the other two had slippery mud under them.

It is lightly snowing at the moment in Colorado Springs. I should be able to make it to my OA meeting later. UPDATE: (6:55) I made it to the meeting, but no one could let us into the building because the combination for the front door key box had been changed.

I still have a couple of Visa gift cards from Christmas I can use. One of the cards has just under $12 left on it, while the other has $100.

The Rabbit Hole is live tonight after all! In the event I needed to fill in, I had a mini-playlist of songs I wanted to play for the first hour, along with a three-minute tribute to Buck Henry. The tribute had truncated versions of Buck Henry's roles from the Scarface parody in "The New Show," "Heaven Can Wait" and the Lord and Lady Douchebag sketch from SNL.

I was taking an after-work nap today when my phone reminder went off. I had signed up for a cider-tasting meetup. I quickly shaved and showered then drove to the cider house. The "apple pie" cider I had actually tasted like apple pie! Afterwards, the group had dinner at Shuga's on the south end of downtown.
