At my parents' house on Friday, Dad said my grandma's death came after having kidney troubles. Dad said my uncle hadn't contacted him so he didn't find out about the death until Thursday when another relative sent him a condolence message.

The roller coaster weather is still going on. It snows for a day or two, then I get a few days of 50s and 60s.

My dad e-mailed me earlier tonight to say my maternal grandmother passed away on Tuesday. She previously lived with my parents for a while, but my dad was having a hard time taking care of both my mom and grandmother due to Grandma showing signs of dementia. She lived the past few years of her life with one of my uncles, who had lived in Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica and Florida. The last time I saw her was in October 2012 when she visited Colorado to have surgery for colon cancer.

My grandmother needed to go to the hospital last week. She was having trouble breathing due to the high altitude, even with an oxygen tank. She also contracted pneumonia, but she seemed to recover from that fairly well. Prior to this, she had undergone surgery for colon cancer. My uncle (with whom my grandmother had been living) flew in from Jamaica on Thursday. Gran will likely return with my uncle to Jamaica, where she can breathe easier closer to sea level.

My grandmother's colonoscopy was postponed, but something happened to me today that was just as painful as a colonoscopy.

My Vocational Rehab counselor called this morning to tell me something I kept trying to avoid. Since most jobs locally would require working weekends, I would have to quit my KRCC job in order to earn more money. I let her know I would be willing to make the sacrifice, though I definitely wouldn't be happy about it. I'm not mad about having to take a mediocre job with okay pay. I'm mad about having to give up a great job (with low pay) to get it instead of just finding a second job to supplement working at KRCC.

I guess everything I studied and worked hard for in my adult life has been in vain. One of my radio jobs disappeared in 2008 because Metro Networks closed offices. Now I'll likely have to give up the other radio job just to make a little more.

I went to another job fair on Thursday, which turned out to be a waste of time. To begin with, there was a huge line outside the hotel because the job fair was held in a small conference room. Thankfully the line moved quickly and I only waited outside about 10 minutes. Once inside, I found about two-thirds of the companies hiring had previously rejected me (some multiple times.) I didn't qualify for the other positions being offered. The local Clear Channel stations had a table, but they only had two part-time weekend positions available.

I got to see my grandmother at dinner yesterday. This week was her 93rd birthday. She'll be undergoing a colonoscopy in a few days.

My dad was on the phone with the hospital when I arrived for dinner tonight. He said my grandmother had started to have dizzy spells, along with high blood pressure and fluid in her lungs. The doctors think one of Grandma's medications may be causing this, so she's being kept for observation. I hope they're able to clear up what's wrong.

I'm co-hosting one of the afternoon membership drive slots at KRCC on Saturday (either 2-5 PM or 2-8 PM.) I've been writing down some station-related lines and topics I could bring up in case I get stuck trying to find something to say.

On Sunday, I fell asleep at home because I was so exhausted after working a double shift at KRCC. I completely forgot that my family was holding a 90th birthday party for my grandmother. My dad and grandmother told me they understood, but I still feel like crap for missing it. I forgot to write the event on my calendar and/or type a reminder on my cell phone. I've done both now for the KRCC membership drive dates where I volunteered to answer the phones.

Back home after a dinner of Mexican leftovers at my parents' house. I drove my grandmother downtown to a doctor appointment earlier today, then we both went to Josh & John's for some ice cream and La Baguette Cafe to pick up some bread.

My body was starting to get used to waking at 7 a.m. for my telemarketing job. Even though I didn't get to sleep until about 1:30 a.m., I still kept waking up between 7 and 9 a.m. When I re-apply, I'll request an afternoon shift.

My mom fell and broke her ankle last week. She came home from the hospital a few days ago.

There was a scary moment a few minutes after Mom's return: She was using her walker to stand while my dad brought her wheelchair inside, but she leaned back a bit too far. (For some reason, walkers tend to tip backwards more easily than they should. Just a warning in case anyone reading this needs to use a walker one day.) She fell, hitting her head on a chair. Luckily, she wasn't seriously hurt.

A day or two before Mom came home, my grandmother announced she would be moving to San Diego. I'll miss her, but hopefully I'll be able to visit her sometime.
