PAY for Sunday, August 13th: 5 hours (6-11 AM)

The announcer whose shift follows mine is able to relieve me at 11 AM tomorrow so I can go to Arvada Tails. I signed up for five phone shifts during next month's KRCC membership drive, which will more than make up for the hours missed during July's cruise reunion as well as Arvada Tails. If I can find time to do two more shifts, that would completely make up for my next vacation (either Christmas or Furry Fiesta.)

I saw the Psychedelgates play last night. The beginning of the show was a bit awkward because one of the guitarists started shouting and cursing at the others during the sound check before storming off stage. On Twitter, I jokingly called it a re-enactment of the Troggs tape. (For those who don't get the reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrXfK9Osmvs )

I've been able to attend a couple of furry meetups this week. I went to the Tuesday meet at Village Inn, and I'll go to another meet tonight at a pizza place close to my home. The Arvada Tails "RMFC" meet is 24 days away. Since it's on a Sunday, I'll ask another KRCC announcer if he can fill in for me beginning at 9 or 10 AM. I'll probably just wear my collie tail to the meet since it's outdoors and I don't want to overheat in my kigurumi or fursuit.

I had my mail held for the vacation weekend. One of the three items delivered to me last night was my new driver's license. A box was waiting for me on the front porch when I got home; it contained the director's chair I had forgotten to pick up during last year's Rocky Mountain Fur Con.

I'll tag this part for Christmas gift ideas: medium-sized pot, portable cell phone charger, new digital camera, Squatty Potty, shredder.

My Dreamwidth account is almost ready. I signed up for an account Tuesday night, and everything except the journal comments have been transferred from LiveJournal. (The comments began loading a few minutes ago.)

Since Rocky Mountain Fur Con is kaput, I was looking at other conventions I might like to attend. Biggest Little Fur Con is less than two months away. However, I'd like to find something later in the year this year. Attending an October con would depend upon when KRCC holds its Fall membership drive (usually the end of October.)

Still no federal tax refund. I'm not worried at the moment because I don't have any major expenses due this week. My next payday will be on Friday.

I never thought I'd ever have to say this, but... R.I.P. Rocky Mountain Fur Con. I didn't realize problems with the con ran deeper than just fear/hatred of certain groups. It turns out MAAAC, the organization that ran RMFC, had lost its tax-exempt status years ago. Also, the head of MAAAC sent a Cease and Desist letter banning someone (who wasn't even going to attend RMFC) for bringing a gun threat to the staff's attention.

A group is now working on a replacement con for 2018. I've heard the names Mile High Furry Weekend, Mile High Furry Con and DenFur being proposed. Leaders of other cons are mentoring the group to get things started. I'm sad about the loss of RMFC as I've been attending since 2010, but I look forward to a new and (hopefully) better-run convention.

I might need to buy a new digital camera if I can't find a specific part for my current one. The tab holding the camera's battery in place broke about a month ago. Now the camera only works when it's in its charging dock. HP no longer supports the camera (a Photosmart R817,) so buying a new one might be better. I still have the waterproof camera I bought for my Grenada cruise as a backup.

My boss at KRCC tried to contact me during my Toastmasters meeting earlier, looking for additional phone staff for the membership drive's final day.

I just saw an article about a proposed "Hyperloop" train which would serve various cities:

One of the planned routes would go from Cheyenne, WY to Houston, TX, with stops including Denver, Colorado Springs and Pueblo. I don't know if this route would stop in Dallas/Fort Worth, but there's another route linking DFW with Houston. This would be a nice system (if I'm still alive when it's completed) for traveling to Texas Furry Fiesta.

Just 20 days until my Washington, DC trip, and 124 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con!

I reserved my hotel room for this year's RMFC yesterday. Only 172 days away!

I had a few nice nights out over the past week. Last Friday, I went to Benny's Lounge to hear the Psychedelegates play. I read a good review about the lounge's food, so I had an order of their bacon jalapeño poppers. On Sunday, I had dinner with the international cuisine group at La Bella Vita Italian restaurant. I ordered a Primavera salad and lasagna. After work tonight, I'll join the Happy Hour group at a downtown bar.

PAY for Sunday, February 5th: 10 hours (5 AM-3 PM)

I decided to bring my kigurumi instead of my fursuit to FoxTrot last night. I currently don't have a container that's both large enough to store the fursuit and small enough to fit in my car. I plan to buy a container in a week or two so I can bring my suit from now on.

The meet's new bar, the Denver Wrangler, is in the building where Howl-O-Ween had been held for a few years (formerly the ExDo Annex and the Eden nightclub.) I ate dinner at home before driving to the meet, but the Wrangler does have food service including pizza, burgers and nachos. During the meet, an RMFC staff member let me know the director's chair I forgot to pick up last year would be shipped later this week.

I went to a New Year's Eve party last night. The party was hosted by a member of my singles group; about 60 people attended. I napped for a few hours between work and the party. I had hoped to stay past midnight. Unfortunately, I found myself starting to feel sleepy again around 11:15 (and wanting to get some rest before work) and headed home. I made sure to alternate between drinking alcohol and water so I wouldn't get drunk at the party or be hung over in the morning.

I'll go ahead and start this countdown: 222 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con!
jcollie719: (Turtle Farm)
1. Singles cruise (yes!)
2. Furry Fiesta and RMFC (yes!)
3. Get a fursuit (yes!)
4. Get (and keep) my weight below 300. (no.)
5. Stick to a schedule for certain duties (taking out the trash, checking the mail, etc.) or just stop putting things off until the last minute. (no.)

It felt very good to finally meet some goals that were financially impossible before. I finally have a collie fursuit, though I still need to arrange for its maker to make an adjustment or two so it fits properly.

This year, I began sessions with a new therapist. I hadn't seen a therapist since my former one retired in 2014. I had a few medical issues, including an infection which caused my lower lip to swell up. I finally asked a doctor about being tested for sleep apnea and now have an APAP machine to help me sleep better.

2017 GOALS
Weight below 280
Second vacation (BLFC or DC singles reunion)

The second vacation goal might not be possible if the singles reunion is the same weekend as KRCC's spring membership drive.

I got home from RMFC and realized I forgot to pick up one of the items I got as a Super Patron. At registration, one of the things I got was the personalized back of a director's chair. I was told I could get the rest of the chair at Con Ops, but I kept forgetting to go there. I was unable to meet with the person who made a badge for me. After work Sunday, I planned to ask him to bring the badge to my hotel room, but he had to leave the con early.

I had a good time at RMFC, though I wish work hadn't interfered with how long I could stay. I missed the late Friday/Saturday and early Saturday/Sunday events due to my KRCC shifts (and not finding a sub for them.) I registered for next year's RMFC on Sunday night. The con will be back at the DTC Marriott then.

If I-25 traffic is backed up tomorrow afternoon, I'll take Highway 83 back to Denver. There's not much difference distance- or time-wise. I had gone the opposite direction this morning, heading west to Palmer Lake then north to Larkspur. Sadly, the I-25 traffic was still backed up a little in Larkspur. I'll be working at KRCC from 5 AM-3 PM Sunday since a co-worker needed me to fill in from 2-3 PM. This will still get me back to RMFC in plenty of time for the closing ceremonies. If I'm not too tired Sunday night, I might even go to the dance or karaoke. Tonight, I'll likely go to bed after the cocktail party. If I'm not tired then, I'll probably go to the Match Game.

The fur who made a badge for me said he'd be at the cocktail party, so I'll pick it up then.

My KRCC co-worker recently got a bunch of Whoopie Pies. Today, he gave me a peanut butter/chocolate pie to take home (or to the hotel in this case.)

I arrived at the RMFC hotel around 12:30 PM Thursday. Today is a slow day for me. I only attended the opening ceremony and will head down to the Guest of Honor dinner in less than an hour.

I just noticed the letters U and N in the Sunkist logo are conjoined. It makes the name look like Sinkist.

I keep missing private messages from a furry who made a badge for me. I'm not constantly monitoring FurAffinity, so I don't read the messages until an hour or two after he sends them. I know we follow each other on Twitter, so I had asked him to either message me there or send a text to my phone.

A car insurance agent came to my condo Monday to look at my car's hail damage. My insurance will cover most of the damage, estimated at about $4,400. I just need to pay the $500 deductible.

I had been put on a wait list for a lunch meetup yesterday, and a spot opened up later. After lunch, I picked up a few things I need for RMFC. For my KRCC work shifts, I bought meals that didn't need refrigeration. I know the RMFC hotel's suites have refrigerators, but they aren't listed for the regular rooms.

I had intended to go to the local furry meetup at Village Inn last night. Unfortunately, my afternoon nap lasted an hour or two longer than I had planned. I was still sleepy when I woke up around 5:30 PM. I decided to just go back to sleep for the rest of the night. I need to remember to drink water more often since my lack of energy seems to be linked to dehydration. I'll bring a refillable bottle with me to RMFC.

A KRCC co-worker called me today asking about the station's plans for us over the next few weeks. After talking with the general manager, it appears I will be working 6 AM-2 PM on Saturdays and Sundays since the former Saturday morning announcer left earlier this week. The co-worker who called me would work 2-10 PM both days.

My new schedule actually works better for me since I've been trying to move back to Saturday mornings/early afternoons for years. The FoxTrot meet in Denver is this Saturday, so I could take a nap for 2-3 hours after my shift then head to the meet. Almost all of the events at RMFC begin after 10 AM, and most of the ones I want to attend are in the afternoon and evening.

"It's a blessing and a curse. It's a blurse."

A listener called to compliment me at KRCC this morning. He said I was one of the best announcers at the station. This brightened my mood considerably, but it was also a bit depressing as I know my paid time at the station is coming to an end. I wish more people like this actually owned stations or had ways to get me hired at a commercial station. Maybe I should take the caller's (and others') advice to say my name on the air.

The FoxTrot meet in Denver is this coming Saturday, then the following weekend is Rocky Mountain Fur Con!

I have to give USAA a call tonight. Last night, a large hail storm battered my car. The hail was actually strong enough to put six large cracks in my windshield and dozens of dents in the hood.

Today was a potluck day at my Toastmasters meeting. The club president originally said she would bring a main dish, but I got an e-mail this morning asking me to bring it instead. I stopped by Little Caesar's on the way to the meeting to get a couple of pizzas.

My dad's oven malfunctioned today before I arrived for dinner. Dad said this was the second time the broiler came on while he was baking something. The sandwiches he prepared had burned, but he quickly made a few more for me.

I looked at the just-released schedule for RMFC. Working until 4 PM Saturday at KRCC wouldn't interfere with too many events on the schedule. The cocktail party happens at 6:00, then Match Game will be at 8:30.
jcollie719: (Jcollie license)
31 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con! How much time I'll actually spend there will depend on my work schedule. Beginning this weekend, I will be working from 12-8 PM Saturdays and 5 AM-1 PM Sundays. I don't have RMFC's schedule yet, so I'm not sure which events I'll be missing. I'm considering asking someone to fill in for part of that Saturday (4-8 PM) so I can get more sleep that night.

I still have nose and throat congestion, but I'm slowly getting better.
jcollie719: (Collie Wink)
Today marks 100 days until the cruise, and 141 days until RMFC!

Before the cruise, I need to get a new battery for my HP Photosmart R817 camera. I'd hate to have the battery die while I'm on one of the islands. The ship cabins have AC outlets, but I'm sharing a cabin with someone and don't want to constantly hog the outlet(s). I'm both excited and nervous about not having to go by a schedule on this trip.

Tomorrow Thursday, I need to get the haircut I've been putting off for about three weeks.
jcollie719: (Jcollie719)

I was startled by a loud noise Monday afternoon. When I went outside a few hours later, I saw the above chunk of shattered ice on my walkway. Wednesday's high was in the lower-60s, so much of this snow and ice is gone now!

I booked a hotel room for RMFC a few hours ago. I got a room with two double beds. I'll wait until June or July to look for roommate(s).

I saw a new therapist today. I let him know about my anxiety/depression issues and what I hope to accomplish through therapy. He suggested I take another look at getting a Bachelor's degree in broadcasting. The only school in the area which offers that is CSU-Pueblo.
