"Balloon Boy" found hiding in attic
Oct. 15th, 2009 04:53 pmFalcon Heene, a.k.a. "Balloon Boy," wasn't in the balloon at all. He was found hiding in a box in the attic above the garage. The link to the story from my local NBC affiliate is in the Tweet below:
RT @NewsFirst5 Missing boy found safe---he was in the attic. http://bit.ly/3D743c
Whoever wrote the Wikipedia article for this story needs a geography lesson. The article stated:
"The balloon came down south of Prospect Springs, near Colorado Springs."
Here is the actual landing spot of the balloon, according to Denver NBC affiliate KUSA-TV:
"The balloon traveled about 50 miles [from Fort Collins], reaching 15,000 feet in the air, before it made a soft landing northeast of Denver International Airport and five miles east of Prospect Reservoir."
Some source(s) confused Prospect Reservoir with Prospect Lake in Colorado Springs (There is no city/town called Prospect Springs.) The two sites are over 90 miles apart.
In any event, I'm glad this story didn't have a horrific ending.
