I attended my first Overeaters Anonymous meeting tonight. It's a 12-step program much like Alcoholics Anonymous. I received some good advice on avoiding "distracted eating" (i.e. eating while watching TV or using the computer) and resisting the temptation to snack right after a meal. I actually used one of the member's tips tonight when I started to get a sugary snack out of the cabinet. I'm hoping the support I get from this group can encourage me to actually focus more on losing weight instead of only working on it when I'm motivated (which is rare.)

I will be attending a social anxiety group meeting this weekend. I don't know if this is the regular meeting time, but the get-together (at a restaurant) is this Saturday at 6 PM in Denver. My Saturday shift at KRCC runs from 2-8 PM. The DJ who comes on after me said he could come in at 4:30 or 5:00 this Saturday to cover for me. I offered to cover his Sunday shift (1-4 PM) so I'll work the same total number of hours this coming weekend. I hope the group offers meetings at other days/times, otherwise it might not work out for me.
