jcollie719: (Bankrupt Wheel of Fortune)
The WebGuest on Pawpet IRC is still requesting color drawings of various characters. I don't know if he knows that Romeo has moved on, but his requests come as I'm trying to run the Rabbit Hole. This sometimes affects both the show's flow and my overall mood as I go back and forth between the show and the drawings. Sometimes I miss conversations in IRC because I'm busy drawing. Of course, I need to use Pawpet IRC so Ricochet can link me to his Radiolawn episodes.

I got lunch from Whataburger yesterday. I got a 9-piece container of boneless buffalo wings, which Whataburger recently began selling. Since it's January, the Dr. Pepper shake is back for 2-3 months.

Before Sunday's show, WikiFur didn't come up for me for an hour or two. I'm glad it worked before my show started. I get my list of the week's furry conventions from this site.

I did another drawing for the WebGuest during Radiolawn, but the WebGuest got disconnected before I could finish it. I'll save it for next week.

"Cor, that was a loud one."

There was a brief thunderstorm an hour ago. One of the lightning strikes was close enough to create a REALLY loud boom from the thunder.

The IRC "WebGuest" who asks me to draw things for him usually signs on an hour into The Rabbit Hole. Last week, he signed on about an hour into the SECOND half of the show. I had put my drawing supplies away by that time since I thought he had gone to sleep. I'm glad I was able to draw what he wanted since I was a little confused about the request he gave last time.

This weekend, I found an opening for a part-time announcer at Westwood One in Denver. I previously worked for this company as a Colorado Springs news writer with Metro Networks. Even though this job likely wouldn't pay enough for me to live on by itself, I should be able to continue making food deliveries during my free time to supplement it.

I'm glad the IRC chatter had a reference picture from "The Bad Guys" that was easier for me to draw. I tried to do a freehand drawing of Diane Foxington using a clip from the movie. She looked more like a donkey when I finished.

It looks like I might have to "dust off the asterisk" next Sunday. Romeo may be taking more time off from the Rabbit Hole to recover.

Photobucket wouldn't let me embed this video, so I uploaded it to my Google Drive. It's a mashup of video from "The Bad Guys" and audio from a similar scene in "The Naked Gun."

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1P6FbhQJVrDmdPhE264DVCtGjeT31rDb8/view?usp=sharing

I was reminded of the Naked Gun scene after hearing Governor Diane Foxington say "Assault with a deadly reptile."

I needed to pick up a few art supplies late last night. I had about 90 minutes between that task and seeing "The Bad Guys," so I had dinner at a bar next door to the theater. I got some pumpkin risotto and two lemon drop martinis, then a Mexican chocolate martini for dessert.

The previews had two animated movies which look interesting. "The D.C. League of Superpets" is about the pets belonging to the D.C. superheroes. Another movie called "Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank" is basically a samurai dog movie with the voices of Michael Cera, George Takei and Samuel L. Jackson. Both movies come out in July.

I was the only person in the theater for "The Bad Guys" (It was a 10 PM showing.) I liked the spoofing of heist movies, as well as the storylines involving bad guys being good and vice versa. Not to spoil too much, but it's also bookended by a pair of fart jokes. I definitely recommend this movie.
jcollie719: (I Ruff You Heart)
I reserved a ticket to see the movie "The Bad Guys" Tuesday night. The IRC chatter who asks me to draw for him asked if I could draw Diane the fox from the movie next week. I'm not sure if he wants Diane drawn in her business clothes or evening dress.

During BigBlueFox's Saturday music stream, BBF played the song "Critical" by Ellis Moss. I can't find the lyrics anywhere, but part of them sounds like he's singing "J. Collie!"
jcollie719: (Collie Wink)
During dinner yesterday, I saw an older "Rhymes With Orange" comic strip featuring cows. One of the cows was holding a pitcher of milk and a plate of cookies. One of the other cows looks at her and says "Are you trying to one-up us?" This comic reminded me of one of the "zingers" Paul Lynde made on Hollywood Squares:

Peter Marshall: What are "dual purpose" cattle good for that other cattle aren't?
Paul Lynde: They give milk and cookies...but I don't recommend the cookies!

I was planning to go to a furry party tonight, but I don't really feel like going out. I'll listen to BigBlueFox's stream and take part in Steelwoulfe's game night instead.

The Sunday potluck went very well. The bar baked a pizza, and others brought green chile chicken, lasagna, and veggies with hummus. I had a couple of the bar's "Dunkelweizen" beers. The bar owner has a friendly and well-behaved Pomeranian.

"I almost forgot, fellow babies: BOOGERRRR!"

The IRC chatter who asks me to do drawings had a new request last weekend: a color drawing. The chatter linked to a kangaroo drawing, then asked me to add wings and color it blue like the flying kangaroo in "Pinwheel." I've never seen that show and couldn't find any information about it online. I just drew the black-and-white outline for the kangaroo, added wings, then colored it using MS Paint.

I had exactly 2 cups of flour left last night, so I could make the full recipe of lemon tea cookies. They turned out great!

The Doggy Radio discussion two weeks ago about animals becoming more human-like reminded me of a classic cartoon. When it was suggested that animals might use porn, I remembered one of the Charlie Brown specials showed Snoopy reading "Playdog" magazine. I found it was 1975's "You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown."
jcollie719: (I Ruff You Heart)
I caught a cold over the weekend, but it seems to be on its way out.

Due to security reasons and limited staff, the NIST doesn't offer tours of the WWV station in Fort Collins or its other stations. There are pictures of the stations on the NIST's web site. I don't see any information about tours offered at the "Pueblo 81009" building, but it's near the Pueblo airport.

I'm assuming the IRC chatter who asks me to draw for him thinks I'm younger than I actually am. The chatter asked if I knew about Baby Bear from Sesame Street. I stated that I wasn't sure if he was on the show when I was a kid. Baby Bear debuted in 1991, and I only watched Sesame Street until the early-1980s.

I called my doctor's office to make an appointment to possibly get a more-effective medication for my depression and anxiety. The receptionist said my doctor had retired, so I will see a new doctor in a few weeks.

I should cheer up in a bit since I ordered some Thai food for dinner.

Another thing to be happy about: the fox plushies from the "Foxes In Love" comic have arrived!
jcollie719: (Weird Al Headbanger)
Run Definitely Run kicked major ass! They currently have a Kickstarter for their album, and I found many of their songs on Spotify.

In the Dealers Den, I bought a book of the comic strip "Foxes In Love" and pre-ordered plushies of the two fox characters.

The patron dinner had a few different options. I had a chicken breast, salad, baby carrots with hummus, a roll, and an apple crumble for dessert.

Right now I'm "resting and digesting" in my hotel room. I'll get into suit around 8:30 for Avian Invasion's show.

I tuned into Firr's live stream of his VRChat DJ set Saturday night, then DJ Cosmik did a similar type of dance set Sunday for the Rabbit Hole. Both Cosmik and Firr excel at danceable mashups!

I got a DM from a Rabbit Hole listener during the show asking if I'd seen a particular cartoon aired on Sesame Street during the 1970s. I didn't recall it, but the listener gave me a link to the cartoon then asked me to draw one of the characters from it. I'm not sure why he asked me since I'm not a very good artist, but I did a so-so sketch of the character, along with two more things from the cartoon.
jcollie719: (Subaru Impreza 2005)
I bought a replacement for my car vent-mounted cell phone holder. I had accidentally thrown out a piece of my old one that I didn't think I'd need, but the holder kept flopping around without that part. I couldn't remember which company made the holder, and it didn't have a brand name or model number printed on it. I found the exact model at a store; the maker is called "Just Wireless." I'll keep the old holder as a backup just in case. I also got a digital thermometer to check for any fever after the second COVID shot later this month.

I had mainly been eating junk for the past two days, so I got lunch at Panera Bread later. I ordered a tuna sandwich and ten-vegetable soup.

One of two used CDs I ordered arrived in the mail today. I found an online listing for the "Oliver and Company" soundtrack that was reasonably priced. The other listings were asking for hundreds of dollars. I also ordered a copy of "The Best of Neil Rogers 1995." Rogers was a Miami talk show host whose CDs contained both original and syndicated comedy bits. I listen to an online show hosted by one of his parody writers, Boca Brittany Somers.

Further Confusion published its "fursuit photo" for 2021. Participants merely gathered on Zoom and the staff compiled screen captures of everyone. I'm in the fourth row down and third from the left. I was happy to find I was put next to Cassidy Civet! I also recognize Joe G. Bear further to the right, who I met last year at Furry Fiesta.

I ordered the "Saturday Morning Cartoons" CD, which has rock/pop covers of cartoon theme songs. Romeo has played at least two of the covers (Underdog and Spider-Man) on the Rabbit Hole.
jcollie719: (Christmas Collie)
The desk calendar I got for Christmas is of a comic called "The Argyle Sweater." I've never heard of this comic, but it's similar to "The Far Side." I also have a 2021 wall calendar with collies.

My 2021 resolutions:

1. Weight loss: below 300 lbs.
2. Reduce debt by 15-20% ($27.4k at end of 2020; 15%=$4,110, 20%=$5,480
3. Christmas vacation
4. Regular online music show

I likely won't be attending any in-person furry cons this year due to the coronavirus, so that should help me with the first two goals. Once I resume working at KRCC, I should know when I'd have time to do a music show at home online.
jcollie719: (Collie Lick Sign)
The cartoon on Boomer's site mentioning a "werepug" reminded me of meeting one of my neighbor's pugs. When I let the dog sniff my hand, I was a little weirded out by all the snorting it did. I kept thinking it was about to blow its nose on my hand!

I did a DoorDash catering delivery in Denver this morning, then 6 GrubHub deliveries in Colorado Springs tonight. GrubHub offered a $10 bonus for making at least 5 deliveries from 5-9 PM. The deliveries helped me keep my mind off the election.

 Animaniacs DVD Cover
A couple of belated Christmas gifts arrived this weekend. I ordered the complete series of Animaniacs on DVD, along with a headphone jack-to-USB cable.

A fellow employee called me at work this morning to tell me he left some homemade fudge in the break room fridge for me. Also at work, I solved the Weekend Edition puzzle in about a minute!

Someone was parked in my reserved space when I got home. I parked in the spaces by the community pool for an hour or so until the other car left.
