Hopefully my sleep schedule will be back to normal later today. I had to work on Labor Day, even though I only had to do half as much work. I wound up sleeping for about 4 hours after getting home, waking around noon, then going back to sleep around 7 p.m.

For the first time in over a week, the local newspaper's Web site has the correct day's paper displayed instead of being a day behind. Now if only they could provide more actual news content. This is a good-sized city (380,000 or so.) More than three things happened, right?

52 days until the cruise! I've downloaded more music from my CDs onto my iPod and iTunes for the trip. I went ahead and bought downloads of some of the albums since I only had them on cassette.

It's Tuesday, so why does the local paper's Web site still have Monday's paper up? They were a day behind yesterday, too. Oh well, it gives me an opportunity to goof off here for a bit longer. ;) I'm actually re-writing the stories from the TV newscast (in between visits here) until the paper's site decides to update.

The work VCR didn't record last night's news report because of a late-running football game. The station's Web site doesn't have any audio stories I can use, just two features from the morning show. My boss told me he would get me a TiVo system for work to replace the VCR. I actually bought the VCR to replace the ancient one the company had.

I'll do some grocery shopping this afternoon. I forgot to give my dad my shopping list this week. There's no Primerica meeting tonight, so I can go to sleep after getting home from dinner.

With the exception of a couple of very brief naps, I've been up since 10:15 p.m. Tuesday. I tried to sleep yesterday afternoon, but three things decided to happen:

(1) I called my latest match from the dating service. She asked if she could call back later since she was driving, but she didn't call back.

(2) As I tried to take a nap after the call, my supervisor from Primerica text-messaged me (my phone beeps when I get a text message) saying he was holding an important team meeting after the regular meeting.

(3) As I made a second attempt at a nap, two maintenance men from the condo community came to my door asking to inspect my crawl space. Apparently there was a water leak below the units and they wanted to find the source. That meant I had to take the boxes from my walk-in closet where the crawl space door is and put them on my bed(!!!) until the men finished their search.

I managed about two hours of sleep last night. After arriving at work about 15 minutes late, I dozed off for another hour or so (No one else is there at that time, so it didn't matter.)

I managed to really cut back on caffeine the past few days. I drank a soda before going to work, then brought bottled water with me. I made it about 3-1/2 hours before starting to doze off, so I had a cup of day-old coffee. I got about 5-1/2 hours of sleep after returning home.

My work computer's Internet access went down an hour after arriving, so I had to use one of the computers in the main office, the only one that still works when the others go down.

I've noticed Craig Ferguson's talk show has added a segment and commercial break before the opening titles and monologue, sort of a pre-monologue monologue.

I've known for quite some time how isolated I am. That fact really came to light last week when someone posting to my home city's LJ said he/she was moving here and wanted to know about any local nightlife, attractions, parks, etc. near his/her address. I felt embarrassed that I could only offer a limited amount of information about the area, despite living here for most of my life. I think I could still take 4-5 days off from work and still have enough vacation time left for the Halloween cruise. I'll make an appointment with my psychiatrist this week to discuss some of the trip-related anxieties I still have (namely crowds and getting dirty.)

I'm glad the Denver office hasn't asked me to cover any shifts because my local DirecTV doesn't carry the Denver stations. (Comcast, which I had at my old home, carries three of Denver's network stations and the secondary PBS station.) I'll check the stations' websites to see if any of them offer streaming video of their entire newscasts. I know some offer videos of individual stories.

I'm using one of the computers in the front part of my workplace since the fluorescent light in my office is nearly burnt out and flickering like mad.

On my way home, I'll pick up a couple more fans (hopefully with quiet motors) to help circulate more cool air in my condo. Even with my windows open and the kitchen ceiling fan at full speed, I can't get the condo below 78 degrees. I wish I could save some of that heat for the winter.

I got some great news a few minutes ago. Someone from my car insurance company called to say all the claims arising from my auto accident exactly three years ago have been settled. Other than the faint sign of the surgery scar on my right knee, my body is pretty much back to normal (as normal as it can get, anyway.)

Ecch, I've fallen back into the pattern of napping in the morning and getting a reduced amount of sleep in the afternoon/evening. As much as I like my job -- especially since I got a raise this year -- the hours make things like dating and attending the Primerica meetings difficult.

For the first time in about three years, I'm late to work. I had set my alarm for 10:40 p.m., but I forgot to actually turn the alarm on. I wound up waking at 11:53. I didn't get to bed until 6:30 or 7:00, so that extra hour and 10 minutes of sleep didn't hurt.

At KRCC, I filled in for the person who normally comes in after me. One of the Sunday programs is the Thomas Jefferson Hour, where an actor portrays Jefferson and gives his view on both his presidency and the modern world. At the end of the show, the announcer invites listeners to submit their questions and comments to Jefferson. I imagined George Costanza from "Seinfeld" asking Jefferson about what they used for toilet paper back then.

One thing I hate is when TV news reports introduce a story, then say "We'll bring you more about that story in a moment, but first...." I know the station is just trying to keep people tuned in, but it's frustrating when I write down the subject for the first story, only to discover it won't be covered until later.

Yesterday was pretty dull, mainly because I slept more than half the day to catch up on the sleep I missed the day before yesterday. I visited my parents so I could pick up more of my clothes, plus my pillows, comforter and hair dryer. I forgot to bring my razor back home. I'll pick that up and buy a new set of blades today.

I think I need to bring either a Xanax or St. John's Wort pill with me to work. I seem to become panicky between 3:45 and 5:00, sometimes leading to seizures.

I read that Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien will be doing new shows again (without their writers) beginning January 2nd. I think David Letterman is coming back also, but I forget if a date was announced. It will be nice to have new shows again.

I got a sneak peek at two of the Christmas presents I'll be getting this year. Since I'm moving into my new condo shortly, my parents got me a microwave and a set of dishes. At least they're things I can use rather than more clothes or handheld video games (I already have more than enough of those.)

This Friday is a double pay day for me (Metro and KRCC.) I'll go by the station tomorrow morning to make sure I submitted my time card for this half of the month.

Tonight's Conan rerun was the episode where Quackers the duck took a dump on the floor then stuck his beak in it.

I'll do my best to have a positive attitude about my job. Even though no one's here at night to watch me complain about it, I'm hoping being more positive will somehow encourage the company to give me a raise. I've gotten lots of positive feedback from the stations which use the news service, so I know I deserve a higher salary.

I packed my tux, suit, costume and a few pairs of pants in my garment bag yesterday. There's still some space left in it if my suitcase gets too crowded. Since I won't be going on any snorkeling excursions, I decided to leave my snorkeling gear at home this time to save space/weight. If the opportunity does come up, hopefully there will be gear available.

Thirty hours from now, I'll be at (or driving to) the airport for my flight to Orlando. Less than six hours from now, I won't be getting seizures from listening to the police radio at work. I've got my office door closed, so the radio isn't bothering me as much today.

I was finally able to get in touch with Primerica to withdraw the money from my Roth IRA to pay off my loan and pay down my MasterCard bill.  The check(s) should arrive in 2-3 days.

My boss at Metro installed a new TV antenna for me.  Now I get excellent reception on channel 5's analog and digital signals!  I noticed a slight amount of interference on the digital signal whenever people moved around the office, so I reprogrammed the VCR to record the analog signal at 5 p.m. and the digital signal at 6 and 10 p.m. when there's less chance of interference.

21 days until the cruise!  I found out last night that one of the people I met on last Halloween's cruise was hospitalized.  He was involved in a head-on collision, then he suffered a heart attack while in the hospital.  The latest news I heard was he was resting and that some of the fractures he suffered may be able to heal without surgery.  Hopefully he'll be able to recover in time for next Halloween.

If no one shows up here at work by 5:40, I'll just take off. There's no reason for me to stay. It's not like I'm being paid anything extra for working on a holiday.

Oh, crap. Someone showed up. So much for that plan.

I haven't received any calls or e-mails telling me not to come into work for Labor Day, so I'll show up. I'm sure if it's only a "half-load" day (one news summary instead of two), there will be a note on my desk.

I received some reassuring words from the Fursuit Lounge community about whether I'd look good in a collie suit. They let me know that the weight issue isn't really important, and the design of the head and body can work in my favor. I will work to get my weight down below 270 by next Halloween.

I sometimes post in the [profile] 5gratitudes group (where people list 5 things which made them happy that day.)  Today was one of those days where I couldn't find 5 happy things, so I thought I'd just list 3 things which either frustrated or angered me today, then 2 things that made me happy:

1) As I mentioned yesterday, the HDTV antenna I bought didn't work in the office because the windows don't face the transmitter location.

2) Thanks to "hney" requiring hospitalization, I am nearly broke.  Since my next credit card payments aren't due for a while, I've put those and my vacation payments off so I can rebuild my account balance.

3) The conference call system for my web business isn't recognizing my password for some reason.

And now,the things which made me happy:

1) I found an ad in the local paper seeking actors/models for local films, TV and print ads.

2) Downloading a movie of a kitten licking the screen to my cell phone from theslurps.com.

I picked up my work VCR from the repair shop an hour ago.

Wow, I'm still awake!

I received another match from the dating service yesterday. The service said this woman pre-approved me, so I hope that's a good sign. My $84 transfer from PayPal into my checking account should happen Thursday or Friday, which would give me enough if we schedule a date for this weekend.

I slept almost the entire day after getting home yesterday, so I should be able to stay awake this morning to follow up with more of my web business prospects. I need to sign up at least two prospects by August to guarantee I can afford the Halloween cruise, just in case the Trek settlement doesn't arrive by then.

Sharon is back at work! I thought she had quit for good when Robin left, but she was either on vacation or was able to be lured back.

I hope this stuffiness isn't a cold. It doesn't feel like one, but it feels slightly worse than a normal stuffy nose.
