jcollie719: (Christmas Collie)
Once in a while, I'll remember a song from an album that's out of print and not available on iTunes or other legal download sites. Luckily, I was able to find the CD for a good price on eBay. I have a few of Concrete Blonde's albums, but I was looking for the "Group Therapy" CD. I remembered the song "Your Llorona," which the Sunday 2-5 AM DJ played occasionally at KRCC before my Weekend Edition shift.

I'm thinking of taking a Christmas vacation to Las Vegas using some of the online rewards I've earned. I discovered I've earned more than enough points playing Pop Slots to pay for a two-night stay at certain MGM-owned hotels, as well as extras like food, beverages and gambling credit.

The laptop battery I ordered should arrive by the 13th or 14th.

My Drive order today will pay over $32, including the tip and on-time bonus. The extra hour with GrubHub should be more than enough to earn the remaining $16 or so.

UPDATE (5:48 PM): Since I had a half-hour to spare before my GrubHub shift and DoorDash was still busy, I did a pair of DoorDash deliveries from a Chipotle restaurant. By coincidence, the two customers lived about a block apart. Those deliveries helped me surpass my goal, and the hour with GrubHub added an extra $20.

I went on eBay earlier to order a battery for my old laptop. The first time I ordered from another site, I accidentally got the wrong type of battery and never heard back from the company about exchanging or returning it. The second battery I ordered wound up needing to be shipped from China; at the moment, no shipping updates have been provided beyond a label being created months ago (I'm not sure if COVID-19 is causing delays or not.) I hope the third time's a charm since this seller is shipping from Washington state.

I'm roughly $48 from reaching this week's delivery earnings goal. I got a DoorDash Drive order for Saturday afternoon, then signed up for an hour with GrubHub afterward. I could keep going with GrubHub after that if I'm still short of my goal.

The virtual reality headset I ordered on eBay arrived over the weekend. I explored a few sites via the headset and cell phone to relax.

I RSVP'd for a pride party next month. I'm hoping the rules on gatherings will be eased by then. I was looking through old recipes to see what I could bring for a snack/appetizer. I'm thinking about making a cheese ball and a batch of penuche.

My dad called me a bit earlier needing a ride home from an auto shop.

I wasn't able to pick up a DoorDash catering bag today because the person who was supposed to be at the meetup point hadn't shown up. I just ordered a bag from the online store. I can't find the black bag I use for UberEats, so I ordered a new one off eBay. That bag's zipper is broken, so I needed to get a new one anyway.

Note to self: Your health is way more important than making money. Eat a full meal at least an hour before your delivery shifts.

My credit union restored the money taken from my account by a hacker last week. Someone made multiple refund claims against me on eBay for "defective" items, even though I haven't sold anything on eBay in quite a while.  Each of the six withdrawals was roughly GB£59, or US$99.  I changed my eBay and PayPal passwords, then disputed the charges.

I was browsing eBay for Folkmanis puppets a few nights ago and found a German shepherd puppet for sale. This is one of the discontinued puppets I had been hoping to get.

I was nervous about whether I could actually afford my upcoming vacation since a few more expenses popped up about a month ago. The cruise reunion organizer said he was looking for roommates (and named some of the people interested) to split the cost of a two-bedroom suite. To me, that sounded like he had already reserved and paid for the suite. Instead, he messaged me toward the end of April asking me to book the suite; he paid me half of the room cost. When I called the resort, I was told the only suites remaining were one-bedroom suites. The organizer and I will stay in the suite all three nights, with another person staying Thursday night and one more staying Friday and Saturday.

I made four different budget plans for the four-day/three-night stay, ranging from $372-880. The lowest plan would involve buying some mini cereal boxes and juices for breakfasts, and not going to Universal Islands of Adventure.

I didn't get any bids on the necklace or organic soaps I listed on eBay. Those would have given my budget some breathing room.

One funding source for my upcoming vacation wound up failing me (or, rather, the failure was mine.) I had recently bought a necklace on an auction site for $55, about 10% of the retail price. I was hoping to take it to a pawn shop to get at least a few hundred. I've never used pawn shops, so I didn't know they generally don't accept gold-plated jewelry. I listed the necklace on eBay instead.

PAY for Saturday, August 4th: 8.25 hours (1:45-8 PM and 10 PM-midnight)
Sunday, August 5th: 10 hours (5-9 AM and 1-7 PM)

I get to run the "Oscillation Propagation" music show tonight, then fill in for the Sunday afternoon announcer this weekend.

I should bring a couple of 1-2 gallon Ziploc bags to RMFC. There's a Subway a few blocks from the hotel, so I could get a footlong sub and have that for lunch and dinner (a money-saving tip I read on another furry's FA journal.) I've already bought an 8-pack of mini cereal boxes and a box of granola bars for breakfast and snacks.

I put three DVDs up for auction on eBay last week. I know they have some watchers, but no bids yet with about 22 hours left. Getting the minimum bid on all of them would put another $40 in my pocket.

I wanted to pass along the details of this auction. This Colorado Springs artist is a fan of My Little Pony and Doctor Who. She is auctioning a custom-painted blue pony with a Tardis for the "cutie mark." Proceeds will go to the local Red Cross to help victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire. The auction will begin on July 4th and end on the 14th. Starting bid is $10.

More information and pictures: http://mylittleponymadness.weebly.com/1/post/2012/06/pony-charity-auction-and-a-plea-for-your-help.html

The Waldo Canyon is currently 55% contained and has burned over 17,000 acres. Almost 350 homes in northwest Colorado Springs and surrounding areas were completely burned, with an unknown number of homes sustaining smoke and/or heat damage. Two people were found dead inside one of the homes late last week. Some residents have been allowed to return home, but about 10,000 remain evacuated. Tonight, the estimated containment date was moved up from July 16th to the 11th due to the progress made.

PAY for Sunday, May 13th: 8.25 hours (5-9 AM and 12:45-5 PM)

While looking up watch prices on eBay, I noticed a few listings for non-working watches. I have a few watches whose batteries were dead when I ordered them wholesale years ago. The others I got still worked and I was able to sell them for a nice profit. My leftover inventory includes three Winnie The Pooh clip watches and three limited-edition, numbered Barbie watches in black mirrored compacts. I'm thinking of having new batteries installed once I find a job and can afford it.

PAY for Saturday, May 12th: 11 hours (9 AM-8 PM)

I get to do a double shift at KRCC today! There's a training class going on in the next studio, so I won't be able to go to 7-Eleven for food until later this afternoon. I only put one frozen meal in my briefcase.

I've sold seven tubes of the glow stick bracelets on eBay so far. I shipped five of them on Thursday; the other two will be mailed on Monday. If there are any tubes left when the auction ends, I may re-list them at a higher price. The $9 price was supposed to cover the cost of the bracelets and shipping, but the total item/shipping cost for each one ended up costing about $10.50.

A couple of weeks ago, I bought a case of 200 wholesale CDs for $99. The lot does have a few artists I've actually heard of, along with some karaoke collections. Since these came from overstock liquidations, most of the CDs are compilations (mostly rap and Christian rock) from regional artists. Surprisingly, someone has bid on one of the rap CDs I'm offering on eBay for $9.95, and it currently has 17 watchers. (UPDATE: It now has 4 bids and is at $14.50 with less than 4 hours left.) I also have two more of the same CD in the lot. A few of the Spanish music CDs are listed by others on Amazon for $20-45, but I don't know how well they're selling. Some of my eBay auctions are about to end.

My laptop should be ready sometime today. I called the repairman yesterday. He said he'd try to have it ready that night, but I never got another call from him.

I recently visited an anagram Web site to see what my real name and fursona names could spell. My first and last name was turned into "Jet via north." With my middle name, I got "In the vast, hot major." An anagram of Jerzei Collie became "I, Jezreel coil." (Jezreel is the name of a city and valley in Israel.) In an amazing coincidence, the anagram of Mel O. Yellowtail was "Well! A timely loo."

94 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con!

Someone from Sears called me earlier today about a job opening I was seeking. I thought this was going to be a "give me your basic information" call before scheduling an actual in-person interview. Instead, I was asked questions like "Tell me about a time when you went above and beyond the call of duty to provide exceptional customer service." I don't remember every detail about my past work experience and these types of questions always catch me off-guard. I told her I couldn't remember a specific example, and she abruptly ended the call.

I was pissed off for a while. I reflected on my feelings for a while and realized it was silly to get worked up over not getting a job I wasn't exactly crazy about, especially when I need to focus my energy on getting a job at the newly-launched radio stations in town. I left voice mails for my Vocational Rehab counselor and the new employment agent who's working with me.

After tonight's OA meeting, I went to a group member's house for tea then took a walk around the neighborhood with her. I definitely feel more relaxed now.

A few weeks ago, I discovered I mistakenly entered an online payment for the wrong company. I entered the amount under my credit card company's name instead of my phone company's name. I've scheduled the phone company payment for May 2nd.

I ordered the correct size boxes to ship the glow stick bracelets I plan to sell on eBay.
jcollie719: (Jackass Fish Slap)
My glow stick bracelets arrived yesterday. I discovered the packages are about three inches longer than I expected, meaning they won't fit in the shipping boxes I ordered (The boxes haven't arrived yet.) At least I can use some of these boxes to ship other items I'm selling on eBay.
jcollie719: (Tiger costume)
I almost didn't go to Gerlypalooza yesterday. My mood was up and down all morning and I was too stressed and sad to take a nap after work. I decided to take a bubble bath instead. That perked me up enough to motivate me.

Gerlypalooza was held at the Southern Colorado Gaming and Events Center in Pueblo (the old greyhound track.) John Gerlock, the event's namesake, was able to play this year. He played drums for Carlos Crull, then played guitar and sang with his own Big Cat Band. It wasn't as crowded as it was last year and (thankfully) very few kids were there.

I ordered a bulk load of glow stick bracelets and shipping boxes last week. They should arrive sometime this week, then I'll put them up for sale on eBay.

I decided to shuffle when I would do certain things during March. I originally planned to get my laptop fixed and register/book a room for Rocky Mountain Fur Con after my tax refund arrived (around March 15th.) Instead, I will fix the laptop and register after my March 1st paycheck is deposited, then book the RMFC hotel room after getting my tax refund.

The rest of the tax refund and my March 15th paycheck will total about $1,000 due to the phone shifts I'll be working over the next week and a half. I thought about using half of that to buy a bulk load of glow stick necklaces at a discount price, then resell them online to make more money. I'm currently listing some old books and my mailbox stickers on eBay. The last time I tried to sell the stickers, the winning bidder from another country refused to send payment to me and never responded to any of the messages I sent over nearly two months. I finally canceled the auction, and the bidder left negative feedback saying I expected him to pay for shipping to his country.
jcollie719: (Jackass Fish Slap)
I'm having second thoughts about going back to school. While it may help me a few years down the road, it won't solve my current money problems. The only thing that will solve those is a full-time weekday job as soon as possible.

Speaking of money, two of the DVDs I listed on eBay last week have sold. That will give me $32 plus shipping costs. If I had remembered this earlier tonight, I would have gone to see my co-worker's band play in Manitou Springs.
jcollie719: (Ryan Stiles Finger)
Bad news: I spent $8.42 (more than I expected) to mail a DVD set to an eBay winner. This was nearly all the money I had on me.
Good news: $19.61 from the DVD sale will be deposited into my account within 4 days.
Bad news: The $41 check I wrote to the group sponsoring the Overeaters Anonymous meetings I attend (I'm the treasurer, so I write them a check and reimburse myself from the treasury) will probably clear in a few days, putting my account balance back below $0.
Bad news: I'll have to skip the two fur meets I planned to attend tonight and tomorrow night in Denver (both are at restaurants.)
Good news: My next KRCC paycheck will be deposited on the 31st.
Bad news: This hasn't stopped my mood swings and anxiety attacks over my lack of employment.
