I wanted to pass along the details of this auction. This Colorado Springs artist is a fan of My Little Pony and Doctor Who. She is auctioning a custom-painted blue pony with a Tardis for the "cutie mark." Proceeds will go to the local Red Cross to help victims of the Waldo Canyon Fire. The auction will begin on July 4th and end on the 14th. Starting bid is $10.

The Waldo Canyon is currently 55% contained and has burned over 17,000 acres. Almost 350 homes in northwest Colorado Springs and surrounding areas were completely burned, with an unknown number of homes sustaining smoke and/or heat damage. Two people were found dead inside one of the homes late last week. Some residents have been allowed to return home, but about 10,000 remain evacuated. Tonight, the estimated containment date was moved up from July 16th to the 11th due to the progress made.

I had the front tires on my car replaced Tuesday. I noticed they were low on air a few weeks ago, so I used my dad's air pump to refill them. Last week, they were back to being low. I was hoping they just needed to be repaired. Unfortunately, the mechanics found a nail in one tire which punctured the sidewall. The other tire was damaged because I drove on it while it was flat. I wanted to just buy one tire to go with the one in the trunk, but the store didn't have one that matched.

KRCC put its membership drive on hold this week due to the Waldo Canyon Fire. I am worried about it spreading further into Colorado Springs since the estimated containment date is July 16th. Also, I don't know if the Vocational Rehab office is open since it's either in or near the mandatory fire evacuation zone.

As many people are aware, the Waldo Canyon Fire was sparked late last week and has now burned over 15,000 acres in parts of western Colorado Springs and El Paso County. I'm currently fine as I live on the east end of town, but some of my friends and co-workers have had to evacuate.

I've heard that a little rain began falling in town earlier. Hopefully more will come soon.

Finally, as much as I hate to steal one of Bucktown Tiger's bits, Today's Not Cool Award goes to two groups: The scumbags posing as United Way workers asking for donations door-to-door (The Pikes Peak United Way confirmed those people are NOT with the organization) and the scumbags misusing the #waldocanyonfire hashtag on Twitter to make political or other unrelated statements. People have lost their homes and others are unsure if their homes are still standing, yet all you care about is drawing attention to your unrelated posts.
