Over the weekend, I got a box of Bisquick mix, plus milk and eggs, to make some of the pies from my Bisquick cookbook. I made a turkey taco pie last night. It was supposed to be a chicken taco pie, but I only had turkey.

An online talk show I like played some audio of the host undergoing ketamine therapy. This is one of the therapies I'm considering trying to cure my depression. The only other reference to ketamine I'm familiar with is the episode of That's My Bush! where George W. Bush accidentally takes ketamine and Marcia Wallace's character spins around saying "I'm in a K hole!"

I was looking through my Dreamwidth blog this weekend. I found a post from November 4, 2019 where I mentioned doing my first fill-in show for the Rabbit Hole, though I originally called it the DJ Collie Show.

I wish I had the energy to completely digitize my VHS library. Watching Kevin McCarthy's repeated losses while trying to become Speaker of the House reminded me of a particular Late Night with David Letterman episode from around 1986-87. During "Viewer Mail," Dave read a letter from someone named Kevin, and Dave responded by saying "You're a loser, Kevin!"

I have some VHS shows dubbed onto my old DVR, but some of the buttons on its remote don't work. I've ordered a new remote so I can more easily search through what I've saved. I actually recorded one of Steelwoulfe's game nights from back when he streamed on mixer.com. I'd like to eventually get a newer DVR since my old one is from the pre-HDTV days.

The support group meeting I wanted to attend last night didn't happen. I left a voicemail message with the group and got a response today saying certain groups weren't being held at the moment. I was given their website to look for current meetings. The Wednesday night group is held at a different location than the one listed in the pamphlet I have.

The host of the singles Thanksgiving dinner asked me to bring a different side dish since two others were bringing bread and rolls. I offered to bring a green bean casserole. The recipe I have only makes 4-6 servings, so I'll either double or triple it depending on how many people sign up. The dinner is supposed to have up to 30 people.

My dad helped me write a letter to my congressman so he can find out why my tax refund hasn't arrived yet. The senator's office had me fill out an online form giving him permission to look into the matter.

I made it to DenFur in one piece! I checked into the hotel around 3:30. Unlike last year, my room was actually available when I arrived. I drove back to Colorado Springs to attend the Drinking Liberally meet since the regular group leader will be away next month. I just hope nothing too significant happens in politics this weekend since I'll be too busy being a dog!

I was too tired to go to the pre-con party at a local nightclub. The reg LIIIINE opens in just over 4 hours.

The host of one of the weekend talk shows I listen to announced that the station she broadcasts from has been sold. I read that WWNN-AM near Boca Raton, FL was bought by Marc Paskin. Paskin had previously operated the classic rock station "Smokin' 94.1 FM" in Denver, so I hope he'll keep the show I like on the schedule. The host said she would continue doing her podcast even if WWNN dropped her show.

I didn't plan for this, but a few DoorDash deliveries and a catering order I made today totaled $66.66! Other than making deliveries, this has been a pretty uneventful week so far. I updated my therapist on how my depression occasionally makes me want to stay in bed.

A political group I belong to had its monthly meeting tonight. One of the members will be on vacation next month, so he had me take home his "Wheel O' Crazy" to bring to the August meeting. I'll try not to abuse the wheel's awesome power of [checks notes] selecting topics for the meetings.

At dinner tonight, my dad said my niece is due to deliver her second child very soon. He also told me about news stories he heard which (as usual) turned out to be false.

I've been firing up my pirate FM transmitter the past two days. Doing an online search, I found that 104.7 FM could be used for a local LPFM in parts of the city. If I can find others wanting to help, I'd love to get a legal station on the air next year.

I found a restaurant with meeting space that was available for my political group's monthly meeting on the 17th. The Wild Goose Meeting House downtown has lots of good food and drinks plus a meeting room in the back for 10-20 people. If the group approves, I will book future meetings here.

I got a Facebook reminder about a video I shared in April 2009. Although the original video link is dead, I searched YouTube and found it. It was a news/talk host's reaction to the "tea bag" protests around tax day.

It's snowing again. I need to run a few errands before dinner tomorrow, so I hope the roads won't become icy.

I have two themed sets of music planned for Sunday night's show: one based around tea and the other around dance floors.

I made two eight-letter words this weekend playing Scrabble Go! The words were "degrades" and "required."

I didn't do my planned UberEats shift Sunday due to feeling depressed. I still made a great amount of money over the previous week ($227.50) so I'm happy about that.

Since Doggy Radio talked about keeping dream journals, I thought I'd talk about a weird dream I had recently. I dreamed that a politician (I think it was Ted Cruz) was performing a "diss" rap about an opponent. At one point, he called his opponent "Cheese-and-go." I remember thinking "What kind of diss is that? It sounds like one of those snack packs with crackers and cheese."

I'm glad the catering order I just delivered included a big tip. Usually Chipotle is good about getting orders ready on time. This location was really busy for lunchtime, so my order wasn't finished until about 8 minutes after the pick-up time. I didn't get the $2 on-time bonus, but the order itself paid over $50 including the tip. I picked up a Whopper meal at Burger King for lunch afterward, then dropped off my election ballot at one of the city's drop boxes.

The singles cruise group I belong to is hosting an online Halloween weekend party on Zoom. I don't usually get Trick-or-Treaters at my condo; I've only gotten a total of one in the 13 years I've lived here. I may put together a few small bags of candies just in case I get one or two visitors this year.

While I am still officially employed by KRCC/Colorado Public Radio, my role at the station has been drastically reduced. I no longer announce on the weekends, but I will (supposedly) be able to do board-op work and maybe fill in for vacationing announcers. I also still have my food delivery jobs. Still, I hope this is a sign that certain politicians will not continue to serve past January 2021.

I'm currently having a few glasses of chardonnay while listening to The Rabbit Hole.

I had signed up to do GrubHub deliveries for an hour after dinner tonight, but I didn't get any orders. I signed up for an afternoon shift for Saturday.

While I want to build my accounts back up between now and Christmas, I want November 3rd to hurry up and get here.

I bought a mini 10-pack of soda yesterday after a DoorDash shift. I've been drinking much less soda for the past week or two. I'm alternating the soda with sparkling water, coffee and Crystal Light.

I got my hair cut and my car's oil changed later, then did another DoorDash shift.

My phone keeps briefly disconnecting from its data connection. I don't know if it's a problem with the phone itself or something else. I will contact my provider later this morning to see if there have been any signal issues. If not, a repair shop suggested my phone's motherboard might be going bad. The phone is covered by a protection plan, so I hope that can get me a replacement phone if I need one.

I forgot to be at home during the afternoon when a package I needed to sign for was scheduled to be shipped. UPS will try again Thursday night between 6 and 8 PM, when I'll be at home for my monthly Drinking Liberally meeting. I have a DoorDash Drive delivery schedule right after that from 8:30-9:15.

I got lightly buzzed earlier with some Jack-and-coke. I'm currently winding down and simultaneously waking up with some weed, coffee and stroopwafels.

I don't know if Google Meet or Hangouts allows people to connect to meetings via telephone with just a Google account. I may need to upgrade to a G Suite account to do that.  I'd like to invite Drinking Liberally members to this week's online meeting who may or may not have the technology to connect online.

My Congressman got back to me regarding my federal tax return. He said my return had an (unspecified) error, and the IRS is delaying processing tax returns due to their staff's COVID-19 restrictions. Hopefully the IRS can resume working in the next few months.

I have an afternoon DoorDash Drive order to do in Castle Rock. I'll do a bit of food shopping afterwards since I'm running low on a few items.

My mood with all of the tragic news this week alone.

I missed another KRCC online meeting because the link I have must be outdated. I called the operations manager to let him know. He will ask the meeting organizer to e-mail me the correct link.

I found Mtn Dew Baja Blast in a store! I picked up a few bottles of the Zero Sugar version at a Family Dollar store. I saw a recipe for making a copycat version, but I'd like to have at least one bottle of the real thing to compare the taste.

I contacted my Drinking Liberally group with the suggestion of using Google Hangouts for an online meeting. The group will test that out tonight.

My DVD of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie arrived today, along with a couple CDs of 1960s music.

Governor Polis announced Colorado would enter a statewide stay-at-home order beginning tomorrow at 6 AM. After doing a few deliveries for GrubHub, I bought about two weeks' worth of frozen dinners just in case my dad is unable to go to the commissary tomorrow.
jcollie719: (Collie Wink)
I picked up an extra hour of work time Saturday. I was asked to stay late due to a White House briefing on the coronavirus being aired live between 10 AM and noon.

After work today, I went to Wendy's to try the new breakfast items. I had the "Breakfast Baconator" combo with seasoned potatoes (similar to steak fries) and a chocolate "Frosty-ccino." The sandwich's taste comes pretty close to homemade. I just hope Wendy's doesn't ruin it later by changing to cheaper ingredients.

I got a call today complaining that the station's coverage of coronavirus was racist. I had seen complaints about the president calling it the "Chinese virus," but I didn't notice anything racist being said by the commentators. Considering the location of the caller, maybe he didn't like hearing that white people got the virus.
jcollie719: (License JCollie719)
KRCC sent the staff an e-mail stating nearly all of the station's evening and weekend shifts will be automated temporarily starting in a week or two. The change will hopefully be short-lived until the coronavirus threat goes away. An online staff meeting is being held tomorrow. My therapist also sent an e-mail saying my appointment tomorrow can be conducted online. At least I can attend both without having to drive all over the city!

I paid my medical, dental and credit card bills today since my SSI check was deposited.

When Donald Trump became president, I half-jokingly remarked that we elected Todd Margaret (David Cross' character from The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.) With a global pandemic in progress, it looks like we're about halfway through the show's second season. I just hope we don't meet the same end with a nuclear explosion.
