I hope I can pick up some more distilled water in a few days. I only have enough for another 2-3 days, and I didn't find any during my last shopping trip. My car is due for another oil change since the Furry Fiesta trip and food deliveries in Colorado quickly put another 3,000+ miles on my odometer.

Since the coronavirus has many businesses closed and/or working from home, there haven't been any DoorDash catering orders to deliver. This and the latest election results have me feeling depressed. I hoped delivery demand would increase with the quarantine, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

PAY for Saturday, February 22nd: 8 hours (6-11 AM and 3-6 PM)

I got a few extra hours of work this weekend. The Nevada caucus happened on Saturday, so NPR had live commentary during the caucus.

The local singles group had a Margarita Day meetup at Chili's after my shift. I had the Awesome Blossom petals appetizer. I guess Chili's doesn't give you a whole "blossom" anymore. About 2/3 of the petals I got were burnt, and the ranch dipping sauce was definitely inferior to the Big Mac-like sauce that used to go with it. I also had some chicken bacon ranch quesadillas and two of the "Hearts of Fire" margaritas.

I saw the funk band Illegal Cheese at the Hype Bar on Friday night. This is the former Red Bar, where I first saw the band. Since I had dinner earlier that night, I ordered a chicken Caesar salad, plus a few Jack-and-Cokes.

More snow fell on Sunday. The NPR feed was clear, but I swept the snow out of the satellite dish just to keep the feed clear during the afternoon. I did a few GrubHub deliveries in the afternoon to give me more money for the Furry Fiesta trip.

I need to do a better job of gathering topics for Drinking Liberally meetings, especially if I need to fill in as host. My approach most months is like a college kid waiting until the last minute then cramming for the final exam. The meeting still went very well even if only a few topics were covered.

I'll be recording the breaks for my Rabbit Hole donation drive music show. I did a rough timing of the breaks to make the total show around 55-56 minutes. If the breaks end up being much longer than predicted, I will replace the planned Temptations song "Ball of Confusion" with a shorter song (either "Cloud Nine" or "I Can't Get Next To You.")

My dad put some money into my account after I told him about my delayed paycheck. I always feel bad about asking him for help, but he's glad to do it.

Watching political shows is a bit more tolerable when I have a soundboard of cartoon sound effects.

I almost missed out on a DoorDash Drive delivery today. The DoorDash app wouldn't let me sign in or confirm my scheduled pickup. I drove to the restaurant and still couldn't sign in. The app worked after I updated it, allowing me to complete the pickup and delivery.

The wine bar above La Baguette's Old Colorado City location is closed for renovations. This is the bar where Drinking Liberally meets once a month. One member suggested meeting at the Sweet Elephant bar about a half block away. The group scheduled its November meeting for there as well.

I did some AM radio DXing this week to see which stations I could pull in. I could just barely pull in KNX 1070 Los Angeles and KOKC 1520 Oklahoma City. The former local daytimer on 1530 (KQSC) now operates at night with just 15 watts, so that station causes some interference with KOKC. Some of the other distant stations I received are KRLD 1080 Dallas, WHO 1040 Des Moines and WOAI 1200 San Antonio.

Even though I don't expect any Trick-or-Treaters this year, I bought a bag of fun-size candy for Halloween. I've looked up recipes for using leftover candy (e.g. cookie bars.)

I had the rare luck of securing two local DoorDash Drive deliveries today. That makes up for the canceled order that happened Tuesday.

I think the person who has the "Wheel O' Crazy" will be at tonight's Drinking Liberally meeting. I printed out a list of possible topics for the meeting.

I bought two packages of Jack Daniels pulled chicken and a small tub of guacamole yesterday. I had previously bought a large package of corn tortillas and ran out of meat, beans, etc. to fill them.

I renewed the Meetup page for the local Drinking Liberally group. I don't know if the group's "Wheel O' Crazy" topic selector is still with the group, so I ordered a new one as a backup.

I filled out my mail-in ballot for the local April election. A local senior center offers a ballot drop-off location, so I'll go there before a meeting tonight.

A local musician invited me to a performance which starts after my meeting. "Thegoodmorningaccordionterrorist" will be playing at the Triple Nickel downtown, along with a Texas accordion-based punk rock band called "Piñata Protest." (This bar does have a good food selection.) UPDATE (7:15 PM): They don't serve food anymore, and the taco place next door closed at 7:00.

I overslept today. Since I have a meeting at KRCC tomorrow, I'll begin doing UberEats deliveries before and/or after the meeting. I went to Bed Bath & Beyond yesterday to buy a windshield sun visor for my car. I plan to get some "safety scissors" I can use for the food coupons I'll keep in the car, as well as a new color toner cartridge for my printer.

I just filled out my ballot for the June primary election. I'll drop it off tomorrow.

There's supposed to be a little snow falling within the next few hours. The monthly Drinking Liberally meeting is tonight, but the weather shouldn't be a problem. After the meeting, I'll bake a few batches of cookies for tomorrow's Toastmasters meeting. I forgot to double-check all of my ingredients and just discovered I don't have enough butter or margarine to make cookies. I'll probably just pick up some store-made cookies on the way to Toastmasters.

My basic view of the presidential election results:

I had been too smug when the electoral votes started being tallied. Since most of the early results were from typically-red states, I mistakenly thought, "Enjoy your lead now, Donny. You'll be losing it by the end of the night."

In spite of this, there were a few bright spots in the election. Sheriff Joe Arpaio lost his re-election bid in Arizona, Colorado's minimum wage measure ($12/hour minimum wage by 2020) passed, and several state and local candidates I supported won their races. Sadly, the "ColoradoCare" measure (Amendment 69) lost by at least 80%. With that defeat and the possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act, I may be without health insurance again unless the new leadership actually does come up with a better alternative.

Even though I dropped off my ballot long ago, I can't wait to say "Bye, Felicia" to this election cycle tomorrow.

My sleep schedule yesterday was a bit different. Instead of napping during the hours after work, I stayed up and watched the Funday Pawpet Show. The Rabbit Hole wasn't on afterward due to the host being away. Another furry hosted a game stream playing Quiplash 2, Tee K.O. and a couple other games. I napped for a few hours after that, then got up to listen to Doggy Radio.

I picked up a medical device this morning to monitor my sleep. I need to wear it tonight to see if I truly do have sleep apnea. I'll return it to the clinic tomorrow morning, then drop off my car to get the windshield and hail damage repaired.

I can't really go into details about this, but I will be unemployed by the end of this year. Though I would no longer be a paid employee, I said I would be willing to be put on the volunteer substitute list for music shows. I also offered to fill in for other paid workers during the months I have left as a paid employee. I guess my streak of being laid off at the end of a presidential term is still going. Coincidentally, I had also planned and paid for a cruise prior to my last layoff in 2008.

While I'm sad about losing a great job, my weekends will soon be free for more of the fur meets and singles meets. Also, if I need to make extra money, I could always sell things at the flea market or a community garage sale (both of which happen on weekends only.) The downside is my plans to attend Furry Fiesta and/or BLFC next year will likely be affected.

Speaking of work, I noticed the same episode of "All Songs Considered" was loaded twice instead of two different episodes. This happens occasionally, and I noticed it ahead of time this time. I brought up a different episode on the studio computer and played that during the second half-hour. (Someone else screws up, I fix it, I get laid off. Hmmmm...)

P.S. The "Bubba & Dubya" reference is from an LJ post in September 2008. I don't know if The Jeffersonswould be a model for an Obama spinoff, but maybe 227.

UPDATE: Thankfully I was wrong about the first paragraph. I'm still employed at KRCC, though I now work weekend mornings and early afternoons. This still makes it easier for me to attend weekend meets in the evenings.

I brought my laptop to work Saturday to attempt an "auto-pilot" stream on iVlog. Some of my settings were not correct since there was initially an audio echo. I got rid of the echo and restarted the stream, but I wasn't sure if the video was working or not. I gave up on streaming around 4:30 since "Oh! Pawpets" was doing an actual in-studio show (though not a full pawpet stage show.)

As an older cartoon said, "My desire to be well-informed is currently at odds with my desire to remain sane." Between the elections, the shootings in Orlando and other events, I find myself listening to news reports and podcasts only 5-10 minutes at a time before pausing them to "recover."

I wanna run through the halls of my high school
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs
I just found out there's no such thing as the real world
Just a lie you've got to rise above

I went to my precinct caucus tonight at my old high school. I haven't been inside the school since 1989. It had an addition built in the courtyard area around 2006, and some of the caucuses were held in classrooms in the new section. Originally, the administration and counseling offices were located toward the middle of the school; their new location is at the west end, where some art classrooms used to be.

The reduced amount of daylight during Fall/Winter tends to lower my energy level. It's only 8:50 PM as I'm typing this, but it feels like it's after midnight. Thinking about next year's vacations in Dallas and Grenada makes me even more anxious about the winter.

I read articles on Facebook about presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson launching a campaign advertisement with a rap song. I was reminded of two Bloom County comic strips from 1988 in which Opus caused the enaction of a "rap ban treaty."

With the recent Supreme Court ruling about same-sex marriage, I was expecting a certain person to call into KRCC to complain about it during All Things Considered and Weekend Edition.  Surprisingly, I didn't get any complaint calls about that.  There was just one call saying the station's Web stream was too soft.  I double-checked the program playlist on Saturday to make sure the current episode of The Moth Radio Hour was loaded (It was.)

One of my tooth caps came loose tonight. Unlike a previous time, this one didn't break.  It appears to be securely back in place, but I'll make an appointment to re-glue it just to be safe.

Today marks:
120 days until my Singles Cruise reunion in South Dakota
135 days until Rocky Mountain Fur Con

The trip to Deadwood, SD (about 450 miles) will be the second-longest car trip I've taken by myself.  The longest was my trip to Oklacon 2011 (525 miles.)  This trip should take around 9-10 hours, including 2-3 rest/meal stops.

I got a political robo-call yesterday.  Calls like this are annoying enough, but this one had a guy yelling about taxes, jobs, etc. before shouting his endorsement for one of the mayoral candidates.  I've already sent in my mail-in ballot, and I definitely didn't plan to vote for this candidate even before the call. EDIT: According to the Gazette, the phone message was actually against the candidate.  I had hung up halfway through the call so I didn't hear the rest of it.

My cold appears to be almost gone. My nose is still stuffy, but my entire head doesn't feel congested anymore.

I have an interview later today for yet another temporary job. If hired, I will work for a state senator's local campaign office.
