I partially suited last night at the FoxTrot meet. The fursuit's case just barely fit in my car's back seat; I had to move the driver's seat forward and force the case in a bit. The case is 20 inches wide, so I will look for a case that's only 16-18 inches. I didn't see as many friends at the meet since some of them are in Reno at BLFC. I had a cheeseburger, a couple of rum-and-cokes and a few glasses of water before putting on the suit's head, hand paws and tail. There were no chairs in the headless lounge, so I skipped putting on the foot paws. My belt broke during the meet, but it was able to hold my tail for the 20-25 minutes I was in suit. It was slightly dark in the club and difficult to see without my glasses. I got a few hugs and at least one person took my picture. After getting out of suit, I realized I had forgotten to put on a fresh layer of deodorant before the meet. Also, the burger made me a bit farty for a while. I'll do a better job of pre-meet bathing from now on.

UPDATE (8:35 AM): I found a couple of Rubbermaid containers that would fit my car: the Roughneck 66-quart tote (16.5 inches wide) and a large FlexTote (15.7 inches.) The latter has a zipper closure to make it more secure for flying. Both are clear.

I took a Zyrtec before bed last night since KRCC had its "Chili Challenge" this morning. Chili is a golden retriever therapy dog, and her owners help the station during its membership drives. A few people who pledged in person mistakenly thought the station had already moved into its future location on Tejon Street. That move likely won't happen until late this year or early next year.

My federal tax refund hasn't been direct deposited yet. If it's not in my account tomorrow morning, I'll take my change jar to the credit union to pad my account a bit. I still have about $150 in my accounts, but a little more wouldn't hurt.

I went to a couple of get-togethers on Saturday after work. The first was with a local Happy Hour Meetup group at the Wyndham Mining Exchange. This was the hotel where Donald Trump had gotten himself stuck in an elevator. The bar offered 2-for-1 appetizers, so I had popcorn chicken and green chili cheese fries along with two local beers. Later that night, I attended a friend's birthday party at a bar on the west side called Cerberus Brewing Company. I had a few rum-and-cokes and a dessert of "puppy chow" (granola coated with peanut butter, chocolate and powdered sugar.) After the party, I bought a couple of souvenirs from the bar: a collar/bottle opener and a plastic bowl.

Things I need to buy before my cruise: Clip-on sunglasses, Kleenex travel pack(s), Travel laundry soap, snacks (mints/candy), flip-flops
Things I need to do: Get haircut, clip fingernails

On Saturday, KRCC began playing the new (to the station) show "Invisibilia" during the hour before my shift. Just past 1:30, the board operator who precedes me saw that the loaded episode of "Invisibilia" was only 40 minutes long instead of 59. Since there was only a minute or two to make a decision, I took an instrumental album from the jazz rack and had her play it on the air to fill in the time until the top of the hour. During this time, one person called in to say he hated the music. About an hour later, another caller said he loved the music and asked for the artist and album name.

I heard a dog constantly barking outside the studio for an hour or so. I was worried someone had left it in a car (It was 84 degrees outside at the time.) Thankfully, it was outside on a leash under a big shady tree.

My puppet "family" just added a new member. Meet "Ace":

I was browsing eBay for Folkmanis puppets a few nights ago and found a German shepherd puppet for sale. This is one of the discontinued puppets I had been hoping to get.

I took a Zyrtec for my allergies tonight, something I should have done this morning. I went to a fur meet at a home which has a dog and a few cats. I felt okay at the meet and most of the drive home. As soon as I got home, I took the Zyrtec, put my clothes in the washer and took a shower.

I was offered another fill-in slot at KRCC next month. This will cover the remaining two hours of missed work time from my Orlando vacation, along with four of the ten hours I'll miss during RMFC.

Happy 2013!

My New Year's dinner with [livejournal.com profile] vrghr was excellent. The dinner included shrimp for the appetizer, pork roast with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, dumplings and black-eyed peas. We rounded out the evening watching various movies and animated specials. Vargr even gave me a few days worth of leftovers to take home. Many thanks for being a wonderful cook and host!

For New Year's Eve, I went up to Aurora for the "Danewood" party. I went to the wrong address at first, but I called the party and got the right address. The house contained a few Great Danes and one or two smaller dogs, hence the "Danewood" name. One of the Danes and a smaller dog had cuddled up next to me on the sofa for a while. I made the mistake of drinking on a nearly-empty stomach (only having a couple slices of pizza) so I became buzzed after only two drinks. I drank only water after midnight and felt clear-headed again around 1 AM. I stayed until 3:20 just to make sure I was completely sober.

My old job counselor e-mailed me to say she would resume working with me instead of the new counselor, who never returned my calls. She asked me to come to a job fair tomorrow for Service Source. She obviously forgot I already worked for this company for a month or so in 2011, had a horrible time with them and was laid off due to cutbacks at the Army dining hall where I worked. Much of the work also gave me back pain, so I always had to bring pain relievers along with my regular medication.

I'm still a bit stuffy today. I had forgotten to take any allergy medication yesterday, when a couple of people brought dogs to the studio. It looks like there may be a third weekend of pledging since the drive started on a Saturday instead of a Wednesday. While I'd love the drive to end sometime this week, going until next Saturday or Sunday would also add more money to my July 15th paycheck.

Last week's calorie average: 1,880.9
Days above 2,000 calories: 3 (2112, 2045 and 2150)

I was able to balance out the excess-calorie days with four well-behaved days (1,500-1,900 calories each.)

My new Folkmanis collie puppet arrived yesterday. I tried to upload the pics from my cell phone yesterday, but they took forever to reach my e-mail for some reason.

I had trouble falling asleep last night. That, coupled with an early morning doctor's appointment, have left me in need of a nap.

The co-worker who follows my shift at KRCC told me the general manager won't allow her to bring her dogs to work anymore. I know the GM is allergic. I'm also allergic, but I always take Zyrtec so they don't bother me. My co-worker said the dogs were always excited to come to work since I always pet them. A couple of my past co-workers also brought their dogs to work with them.

I can't wait to hang this up! I also can't wait until I have a similar-looking fursuit (and a full-time job to pay for it!) The calendar can act as a sort of motivational device for that.

Also, a very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] diegowolffox !

I called the Flamingo Hotel today and made my reservation for the singles cruise reunion. The vacation is now halfway paid for. The Flamingo only charged me about $60 for the first night plus a deposit, and my plane tickets are completely paid for. The rest will be paid when I arrive.

I finally downloaded a collie graphic off a website to go with my main fursona. I might wait until I lose more weight before getting a collie suit made. I still have my idea for Kukido Leopard, which would be better suited for a fat person.

I don't know if a stray dog has been roaming or if someone else has been walking a dog near my condo, but if it's the latter, CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR DOG, FFS! I saw one pile of turds along the walkway three days ago, and another pile appeared near my front porch yesterday. I don't want to go near them, but I'll buy a scoop just to get rid of them if they're still there over the weekend. Most of the community's dog owners are responsible enough to carry bags/scoops when they go for walks.

This past Sunday, one of my co-workers threw a pre-Labor Day barbecue.  Here is Pepper, an Australian shepherd belonging to one the guests.

From my calendar at work:

84 days until the cruise! I made the final payment earlier this week. Now I can work on bringing my credit card balance back down by paying $200-250 each pay day before the trip.

There's a cute little Westie on my calendar at work this month.

A friend e-mailed me this video. I added the intro and the music ("Dance of the Hours" by Spike Jones.)
