"Sick of rumors/But haters do what they do." --Lizzo

Sorry about bringing this up, but it needed to be said:

I recently typed a long letter to someone in the fandom whose behavior is getting more atrocious. I was originally reluctant to post it because I didn't want to re-open old wounds or have this person's butt-kissers come after me. I decided to post it to FurAffinity after this person decided to drunk-message my friend on Telegram after midnight last night with endless insults and lies, followed by a Tweet today attempting to file either a lawsuit or a restraining order.

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46849629/

I also messaged one of the other conventions this person attends asking for him to be banned. Losing one con chair position apparently didn't teach him his behavior is problematic; he needs to lose more privileges, like a child who misbehaves.

I overslept again today. The first thing I did when I got up was to drink a big glass of water. I haven't been drinking enough water, and I need to do that even more now that Summer is pretty much here.

I am very thankful that Romeo Rabbit is still with us. The furry world almost lost him this week due to someone being selfish and disrespectful. Over the years, Romeo's music show has introduced me to many past and present furry musicians I may not have heard about otherwise. I also hear an occasional pop or kids' song and think about how long it's been since I first heard it. I've been here for Romeo through all of his ups and downs and will continue to support him, because that's what a real friend does. I'm also not going to be a middleman for the person who attacked him anymore. If he makes a mess, he'll have to clean it up himself.

My last GrubHub order took longer than expected. The customer had ordered a pizza, but the app didn't specify which size. Calling the customer's number led to a disconnected voicemail, and I never got a response to a text. I just chose a small pizza and delivered it. The customer actually wanted an extra-large and discovered she had put the wrong phone number in her app. I ordered and paid for the correct pizza, then picked it up and delivered it.

A few days ago, I read about a radio company with stations in Wyoming and South Dakota. The company has been fined repeatedly by the FCC for various violations, including using unlicensed studio-transmitter links and not keeping their public files up to date. Only two or three of the company's 11 stations are actually on the air.

According to an article, the company CEO hasn't put any effort into the stations. The ones currently running have skeleton crews since the FCC has stated it is highly unlikely their licenses will be renewed. The CEO has also threatened to sue the FCC over the fines levied. Current and former employees had told the CEO about problems with one of the now-silent AM stations years ago. The CEO allegedly shrugged it off, saying "no one listens to AM anymore."

I see attitudes like this from so-called radio "professionals" and think "...and I can't find a weekday radio job." The licenses for the Wyoming stations expire in October. Maybe by then I can buy them at a garage sale for a buck apiece ;)

I got rejected by another employer Thursday afternoon. This would have been a great position for me since I would have been able to handle customer service calls from my home computer. The only reason I was rejected was I don't have cable Internet via Comcast. The company requires that instead of DSL or satellite Internet.

When I first moved into my condo nearly five years ago, I compared the costs of bundled cable/phone/Internet service through Comcast and Qwest (now part of CenturyLink.) I got the Qwest/DirecTV bundle because it was both cheaper and offered more of the cable channels I wanted. I don't want to go through the pain of canceling one service and signing up for a new one just for a job.

This scenario reminded me of a Lee Camp "Moment of Clarity" video about how products don't last long and newer technology isn't always compatible with old technology.

The FCC's search engine for available LPFM frequencies returned no available frequencies. Since Colorado Springs is 50-60 miles away from the Denver metro area, there are very few frequencies in either area without a station. However, the frequencies which should be available are not because of another problem. I refer to this problem as "frequency squatting." A Christian broadcasting company called Educational Communications of Colorado Springs is particularly guilty of this. Here are the Colorado Springs stations this company operates (in addition to repeaters in other cities):

KTLF 90.5
Translator 105.9 serving Manitou Springs/western Colorado Springs
Translator 94.7 rebroadcasting Denver classical station KVOD

In addition, Educational Communications of Colorado Springs has filed construction permits for the following frequencies in Colorado Springs alone:
92.3, 93.3, 93.7, 95.5*, 97.3, 97.7**, 99.3, 101.1, 101.5, 102.3, 103.5, 104.9, 106.7, 107.3
*Same channel as KPHT, which serves Colorado Springs/Pueblo from an antenna near Rocky Ford
**Same channel as unlicensed station KAFA, which serves the Air Force Academy

The FCC considers these applications (which will never become actual stations) when deciding if a frequency is available. Companies like Educational Communications are filing apps for these frequencies just to thwart competition from other individuals, organizations, etc.

I visited another site which lets visitors search for LPFM frequencies without as many restrictions. A search of my neighborhood found 93.5, 93.7 and 97.5 could potentially house an LPFM station. At least two other frequencies could open up if the FCC allows LPFM stations on second-adjacent channels (e.g. a station could sign on at 93.9 in a town with a full-power station at 94.3.)

Last month, I had applied for an on-air position at local radio station KKLI. I hadn't received a call back from them even after leaving messages with the general manager. When I called the station today, I was told the position has been filled. I don't care how many applications the station gets, if you're responsible for hiring employees, you need to contact all applicants. If you're not able or willing to do that part of your job, there are others who would be glad to do it.

I can't wait until I can afford a house of my own. Living in a condo just 10 feet away from some neighbors and below/right next door to others offers very little privacy.

I've tried to list things I'm interested in to see what type of work they could lead to. The only suggestions I came up with are impossible for me to accomplish since I lack the financial resources in some cases, the proper skills/equipment/license in others and do not live anywhere near where I could do the others.

I wish I could make this pain go away.

See, folks? *This* is what happens when I'm not hired for a job. I have lots of free time at home to basically vent my frustrations on LiveJournal, Twitter and other sites. Unfortunately, it also gives a handful of people the opportunity to be offended by an occasional comment.

Just because I say a small percentage of a particular group behaves a certain does not mean everyone in the group behaves that way. To borrow one politician's words, it is also "not intended to be a factual statement;" it's JUST AN OPINION. If 100 people whose bios identify them as Christians post messages on a site and 2 or 3 of them post inflammatory messages, I have every right to express disappointment in those 2 or 3 people. Don't take offense if you're part of the other 97-98.

I made an appointment for next week with Vocational Rehab. The counselor said the customer service market isn't looking good for me since most companies require working on weekends (when I work at KRCC.) I've been looking and applying for jobs every week for the past 2-1/2 years. Some of the companies advertised a flexible schedule, but their idea of flexible is "You can either work from 8-5 or 9-6, and you still have to work Saturdays/Sundays."

My account is about $40 in the hole. My dad had set up his account to be used as an overdraft account for me. I don't know if he stopped that or if there's a limit on the number or dollar amount of overdrafts per month. My Luce paycheck tomorrow will pay back part of the deficit. I'll look up the local plasma banks tonight to see if I can earn enough for the rest.

I think the lower and middle classes need to form a new political party. The parties in power now aren't doing enough for us. Well, at least Independent Senator Bernie Sanders is speaking up for us.

"The fastest way to become an old dog is to stop learning new tricks"

I wanted to keep this post separate from the last one since I tried to keep that one as positive as I could. I need to find something I'm good at which is also marketable/in demand. I've always been denying this fact, but I'm not worth shit to anyone outside of my family, friends (both furry and non-furry) and some of my co-workers. I'm never going to be able to live a good life by working part-time at two jobs with no real health insurance.

I'd like to learn something new to make a living, but I'm too afraid to risk losing money and being stuck with excess inventory in case I'm not successful. I failed miserably at the past business opportunities I tried because they required me to get my friends and family (who either had good jobs already or didn't fall for the sales pitch I did) to join under me.

I guess I'll try to figure something out when I get home.

I watched the Larry King Live interview on CNN tonight with the Imam who wants to build an interfaith community center two blocks from Ground Zero, along with reactions from others on Anderson Cooper 360. Somehow, I think I got a different feed of the interview than some of the folks who commented on it. I read several comments on the CNN site saying "he should make it an interfaith center instead of a mosque," even though the Imam had already stated that's what the building would be.

To be honest, the panelists calling the plan insensitive came off as very insensitive themselves. One of them (a woman whose husband was a firefighter killed on 9/11) kept cutting off the others who tried to give an opposing view and even suggested the Imam "build it in the Middle East."

The jaw-dropping moment of the night, however, came from a man who objected to being called a bigot. He then suggested the interfaith center should have a Christian church on the top floor ("because Christians built this great nation,") a Jewish synagogue below that and the Muslims on a lower floor. I thought for a moment I had switched over to "TV Land" and was watching Archie Bunker. Of course, this person whined that he was being "attacked" when another panelist questioned this so-called logic.

Bill Hicks was right. Some people need to "squeegee their third eye" and not blindly form an opinion without hearing both sides. Perhaps more people need to study this chart which explains things rationally:

I finished writing my Toastmasters speech after watch these programs. I'll go over it tomorrow morning and make an outline on note cards.

I think I've got a local fur meet version of PCD. I'm also about to write a "depressed rambling emo rant," so I'll put it under a cut to save everyone the pain of scrolling through it.

I apologize for this in advance. I rarely talk about political matters, but I was so upset by one of my Facebook "friends" I just have to vent.

I'm probably wrong, but here goes... )

I just needed to get this off my chest:

This is who I am. I may not be or have everything you're looking for. I can change and I'm willing to try new things, but I'm not going to pretend to be someone I'm not. Just because someone else says people like me are unacceptable, unfashionable, undesirable, etc. doesn't mean that person is right. You don't have to give the media's Pavlovian response of ridicule and/or disgust when you see me. It takes more than a single dinner/coffee or a few minutes on the phone to get to know me. If you don't wish to see or speak to me again, be honest. Don't tell me to call you then have your answering machine constantly pick up without a response. In short, if you wouldn't want others to do it to you, don't do it to others.
